1. i talk about the fandoms i love. battlestar galactica is my current addiction of choice.
to a lesser degree, there is also stargate atlantis and a reawakened interest in the x-files.
older fandoms include jurassic park, the west wing, lord of the rings, and stargate sg-1.

2. i'm an aviation geek. i love discussing airplanes and other matters of flight.
i attended PAC and have nearly completed their aviation management program.
i have just finished my bachelor degree in management.

3. i don't do much in the way of politics and religion. to each their own beliefs.

I'm finally starting to get my notes together to post some meaningful discussion topics, but the last few weeks have been a bit nutty so I had delayed the discussions. I'm starting with a relatively easy one tonight and hope to post some more interesting topics down the line so bear with me. :)

Since it's been almost a year since I've done this, here's a refresher: definitely want to keep this spoiler-free. Everything from the miniseries to Revelations is fair game, so if you haven't yet caught up on season 4, you may want to stay away from any comments posted here.

The first half of season 4 has finished airing and the final episodes of the series are in the process of being completed. What did you think of the first half? Loved it? Hated it? Why? Do you have any expectations for the back half of the season, particularly considering that those ten will be the final episodes of the series?

When did you first notice Battlestar Galactica? Were you a fan of the original and decided to give the new one a try out of curiosity? Did you take the persistent pestering recommendation of a friend? Or did you find it by complete accident while you were channel surfing? Whatever the case may be, share your story.

I'm pretty sure I've told my story a number of times, but seeing as that I have several new people on the flist, I'll go ahead and tell it again.

It was December 2004 and I was getting ready to move to San Antonio. It was maybe a week or so before Christmastime and I had quite a bit of free time between making my plans to enroll in a new school and making sure all of my apartment stuff was taken care of. I noticed a buzz about a show on my flist, mostly from those of the UK variety. They kept gushing about something called Battlestar Galactica, going on and on and on about how wonderful and amazing it was...

Me, being the naturally curious being that I am, decided to see what the fuss was about, imagining it couldn't possibly be as brilliant as people made it out to be. I, um, acquired the episode through some means... and found myself glued to the screen the entire length of the episode. As soon as it finished playing, I immediately set about trying to find additional episodes.

What was the moment that hooked me? I actually enjoyed ALL of '33' and it has remained my absolute favorite episode to this day... but the very last scene of Laura being able to add one to that meager-looking number on the white board and that look of hope on her face as the camera faded to black... I KNEW I was in for the long haul.
