Salma Hayek is too cute for words. Also, Gwen Stefani was a whole lot cuter before she started dragging those Japanese girls everywhere.
I assume you've seen the trailer for Hitchhiker's Guide by now, if you're into that kind of thing. I like Mos Def as Ford and I think Alan Rickman as Marvin is AWESOME but I'm not completely sold on Rockwell as Zaphod. I'm glad now that I never watched The Office, because I don't want to think about that actor as anyone besides Arthur Dent.
I'm not going to completely geek out on this right now (April 29th is still a long way off) but I'll say this: I think a lot of fans are not going to be pleased with the adaptation. There are a lot of changes (I'll spare the spoilers) and there'll be plenty of people up in arms about any variation from what they think HHGTTG should be. I'm not sure yet whether there will be a huge backlash from existing fans, or if there is enough in the movie to attract people who aren't familiar with the books, but I know I'm going to enjoy it. Even if it's in a Harry Potter-esque "This isn't anywhere as great as the book but look at all the pretty CGI!" kind of way.
2/19/05 ETA:
I think it looks okay, and I'll be seeing it as soon as it opens (unlike, say, Episode 3 which I'll watch begrudginly and only for closure). The last Harry Potter made me more comfortable with saying "This isn't anywhere as great as the book but look at all the pretty CGI!" (Never read LOTR but enjoyed the movies and will eventually read the books because of them).
I like the casting of Mos Def and Alan Rickman, but Sam Rockwell and Zooey whatshername don't seem very well suited to Zaphod and Trillian.
Not really spoilers, but kinda I guess:
They're taking Trillian and Arthur in a more romantic direction, which does really irk me. I think it could work for a one-off movie adaptation, but if they have any intention of continuing the films as a series it raises a lot of conflicts. (I'm thinking of the scene where Trillian brings Arthur instead of Zaphod to confront Hactar, NTM a dozen others).

Thanks for the link!
They've added a new character (an Adams addition) and more of a love story between Trillian and Arthur. The new character intrigues me, but I dunno about the romance angle. I always sorta thought they belonged together, but it could turn out corny.
It also seems that they're calling her "Tricia" instead of Trillian, which kinda irks me since they almost never called her that. I'm allowing myself one fannish nitpick, so that's gonna be it.
I was looking through your entries to find something more on topic, maybe a comic entry, but didn't see anything. You like comics, yes? Jhonen has a LJ, but does not post alot. Roman does the Lenore drawings also has a LJ, and posts a little more; he cracks me up. Yes, comics, I know....I have promised myself to grow up someday; just not today.
