I've realized that I have a terrible work ethic. Once I get started it's not so bad, but it's just getting started that's the problem. I'm too easily distracted by pushing daisies, or fantasy football, or useless internet junk. Must have more discipline!
On a completely different note, I was so happy when it started raining on Saturday. I love fall. I love curling up and just relaxing on the couch while listening to the raindrops patter outside. There's something about that chill in the air.
Too bad the temperature is going back up to the 80s-90s this week. That's LA weather for ya ):

Also, school has started again and it's already KICKING MY ASS. It's been but a mere week of classes and already I'm picking up my 5 hr/night sleep average. Woe! I need better time management.
One particular stress spot is my Intro to 3D animation class. This is a pretty accurate description of my troubles:

Hmmmm I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I saw some production art on a studio tour in May and it was all really lovely, though, so I'm sure it will exceed my expectations. I do love how rich her voice is...yay for Anika Noni Rose.
Her expressions remind me of Ariel. Or Mulan. Gosh, it's just familiar.

Also, I finally saw Wall-E and it was completely adorable. Wall-E and Eve are truly the perfect couple. I've read a lot online about the environmental controversy, the gender controversy, the obesity controversy etc etc in the movie...but to me it was just about watching those two. When they were "dancing" together outside the Axiom...that was beautiful.

I'm trying to watch Atlantis: Milo's Return aka Atlantis: Sequels Suck and it's literally hurting my brain. Arrrrggghhh why does it suck so much.
and I like how it seems like they're using the Mignola influence as an excuse to produce particularly cruddy drawings.

I don't have high hopes, but it's worth asking...
Lately my scanner has been leaving this noise/these lines on all of my scans:
and it's really irritating, since it compromises the quality of my images. I'm not sure if it's a fixable problem or if my scanner is just getting along in age. I have a Canoscan N650U and it's at least 5 years old...if anyone has any clue as to what the problem is I'd appreciate any advice (it's kind of like shooting in the dark though...) I hope it's fixable; I'd be a little heartbroken because I'm rather fond of my scanner and I'm accustomed to how easy it is to use. It's also nice and portable. I don't even know what to shop for if I have to get a new one, I'm not really in the loop when it comes to good scanners.

I have to admit, when the teaser first came out i had my doubts. They're slowly being chipped away, though. I didn't know how they were going to pull off 2 hour of robot dialogue, but this clip is amazing! so much emotion! who knew robots could be so adorable? (:

one of the things that drew me to Victorian pigs as an animation concept was the clothing. I LOVE Victorian clothing, so elegant and intricate! So besides trying to animate over the summer, I also want to do some more concept art/illustrations with the Pigs, just to explore more of the clothing and architecture. I'm excited (:
