Heck yes. I finished the second chapter and I'm working on the third. I really want to finish this.

Title: Bitter Pill
Pairing: Sonny x Travis
Rating: PG-13 for now I suppose
Summary: Oh, he was a beautiful broken boy with his cut up wrists and bruises. Oh, he's a hero with a Jack Daniel's tee and he's going to save that broken boy. Yes, he's going to save him, he's going to love that broken boy. Oh, why can't this be a fairy tale with a happy ending? Because he's living in a nightmare.
Warning: Ermmm, abuse, rape [later chapters], self-mutilation.
Disclaimer: This is fake. It never happened. And I don't own anything.

Chapter 01: Start & Pause

Chapter 02: Seek and Destroy

Sonny inhaled sharply as he dabbed at the cut on his lower lip with a crumpled paper towel. He stood in front of the smudged mirror in The Coffee Bean's men's restroom, trying to fix himself up before his shift at the cafe started. He gently stroked his bruised and slightly swollen cheek. His face didn't look as bad as it had the day before, but the bruise wasn't hidden from view and was noticeable, but that didn't really matter because most would just ignore it anyway. Sonny sighed and applied a fresh line of black around his eyes. He took a step back once he was finished with the eyeliner and looked himself over. He didn't look so bad.

Beyond his black T-shirt, arm warmers, and baggy black Dickies cutoffs Sonny saw someone else, someone that no one could really see or maybe they just didn't want to. This someone was a broken boy that was abused and picked on that held his head down and never stood up for himself with a self-esteem that didn't seem to exist anymore. He had basically given up on life, abandoned eating and taken up self-mutilation, doing himself in. His dignity and self worth was long lost as well as his reason to keep living because deep down inside, no matter how much he tried to look on the Brightside, he knew that he wasn't going to survive much longer in this world when all of its inhabitants seemed to be against him. He had no friends and had given up on trying to fit in because he would never be accepted and the reason seemed to be stamped in bold red letters on his forehead: FAG.

Sonny pulled down his shirt to cover up the large dark purple mark on the pale skin of his exposed lower back. He shut his eyes at the painful memory of how he had gotten it. Opening his eyes again, he tossed the damp tissue he had been using into the waste paper basket near the door.

He glanced at the black watch on his wrist, his eyes widening at the time as he mutter an oh shit to himself because his shift started at three-thirty and it was now 3:29. Sonny quickly put the cap back on his eyeliner pencil and grabbed his badge from the sink top before shoving them both into his back pocket. He dashed out of the restroom, nearly knocking over one of his co-workers as he rushed into the back room of the cafe. He dropped his things off and clocked in. His boss, Tony, threatened to fire him for being ninety seconds late. Sonny apologized over and over. He couldn't afford to lose his job. Besides that, it was the only place besides school that he had to go to keep him away from the hell most would call home. Sonny pulled on his green apron, picked up his pen and notepad, then headed out to take his first order.

The five hour shift went by achingly slow. It usually did, but today the minute hand on the old clock seemed to stop working. The night was uneventful except for the typical yelling from Tony, who watched him like a hawk, and his co-workers as well as some customers for screwing up an order. The snickers and sneers and taunts from the people around him that made tears well up in his eyes didn't make the time pass by any quicker either.

It was nearing 8:15 when Sonny looked up from the album cover he had been looking though at the sound of bells tinkling as the cafe's door opened. He looked toward the door to see who had just entered. His eyes widened ad his jaw went slack in shock. It was him. They guy that worked at Jay's who had sold him In Love and Death. Travis R. that was his name, the one who was going to rescue him.

Sonny watched Travis walk smoothly toward the counter which Sonny stood behind. God, he's beautiful. Sonny thought. His heart seemed to beat faster when Travis looked in his direction and they locked eyes. Travis's eyes seemed to light up at Sonny's familiar face and he smiled at the teenager. Sonny almost smiled back when he remembered that he didn't have a chance. Travis would never be interested in him. There was no point in smiling back especially when his blonde, Barbie-doll like co-worker was batting her eyelashes at Travis and giving him a full red lipstick smile. With that thought, Sonny turned away, hiding beside the blender.

Travis simply smiled at the babbling girl who took his order in her attempt to start conversation. The girl wasn't unattractive, she was far from it, but Travis had been with girls just like her and had had enough of the same old thing. Besides, his interest in women had been fading away for quite some time. His interest in this girl was completely gone after she barked Travis's order of coffee to the boy beside the blender, who obediently began to fix it with shaking hands.

Travis leaned against the counter as he waited for his order, watching the boy closely. He had immediately recognized him from the day he had bought the Used's latest CD days before. It was hard to forget a face like the boy's because he was quite cute and Travis had found it hard to get his mind off of him, having spent most of the day's shift thinking about him, wondering if he'd see him again. Travis let his eyes fall low on the boy's figure, enjoying the view of the boy's ass. The boy turned back around. He was blushing a deep pink color as Travis stared at him. He's beautiful. Travis thought and bit down on his lip ring to hide the seductive smile that had formed on his lips.

Sonny's hands shook as he handed the steaming cup of coffee to Travis. The two locked eyes and Sonny quickly turned away, blushing again. Travis smirked, handing Sonny a ten and telling him to keep the change. He walked away from the counter, coffee and receipt in hand as he moved toward a small table in the back of the room. Sonny couldn't help but to stare at Travis, finding it hard to keep his eyes off him. He spun around at the feel of being smacked on the back of the head. "Get back to work!" his boss demanded and Sonny complied, moving from behind the counter to clean off a few of the empty tables.

Travis took a sip from his coffee as he watched the boy who had handed him his coffee bend over to wipe off a table. That was a nice sight. He almost chuckled as the boy's ass wiggled as he moved back and forth with his wash cloth. Travis was waiting for the right time to approach him. The boy straightened and turned meeting Travis's stare. Travis was unabashed and he smiled slowly. The boy looked a little embarrassed as he moved to the table beside Travis's.

"Hey," Travis said after standing up from the table and placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. The boy almost jumped out of his skin in surprise, though he did jump and spun around quickly, bumping into the taller gentleman as he did so, causing the cup of coffee to splash all over him and onto the floor along with the tray Sonny had been holding onto and his cloth as well. The various items fell to the linoleum with a loud clatter and heads poked up from the counter as well as from the tops of newspapers. Travis gasped as the warm, dark liquid soaked through his shirt.

"Oh shit," Sonny muttered. "I'm so sorry," he mumbled over and over again, bending down to scoop of the things that had fallen as his boss made his way to the scene. Travis knelt beside him, opening his mouth to tell the blushing boy it was okay. "I'm so stupid," he heard the boy mumble as he grabbed his cloth. The boy dabbed at Travis's wet shirt in an effort to help and offered him another cloth to dry off his arms and hands from which coffee dripped. Travis accepted the cloth and stood up, wiping the coffee off his arms, feeling rather sticky afterwards. Sonny straightened, dropping the tray and coffee cup onto a nearby table. He wore a fearful look on his face and his stomach turned as he prayed that Travis wouldn't deck him.

Instead Travis placed his hands on Sonny's trembling shoulders. "It's okay," he said, trying to reassure the boy, moving his head a little to look into the boy's lowered eyes. Sonny slowly raised his head, uncertainty playing his soft eyes. Travis nodded. "It wasn't your fault; I damn near gave you a heart attack." A smile spread across Travis's face and Sonny chuckled softly. "I'm the one that should be apologizing." Sonny murmured an, "It's not necessary." Travis patted Sonny's back. "You're the kid that came to Jay's the other day, right?" he said, smiling when Sonny nodded. "I'm Travis."

"I know," Sonny said, going pink in the ears. Travis gave him a curious look. "It was on your name tag," Sonny explained, gazing at the linoleum floor. Travis nodded. “I’m, I'm--" Sonny stammered and his sentence was finished as Eric reached him and Travis.

"Sonny!" He yelled. Eric grabbed Sonny by his collar and pulled him in close. "I should fire you for this, you little fucker!" He said menacingly, spraying Sonny's face with his saliva. "What the hell is wrong with you? Spilling coffee on customers and shit!" Sonny began to throw apologies left and right, but Eric ignored them all, throwing insults back at the near terrified Sonny.

Travis's eyes darted back in forth between the two and he felt anger bottle up in the pit of his stomach. He balled his hands into fists. "Hey," he said aggressively, pushing at the man's large chest. "The kid said sorry."

"You stay out of this," the larger man said before smacking Sonny on the back of the head and pushing him back towards the counter. Sonny looked back at Travis, tears welling up in his eyes before disappearing with Eric into the back room.

Travis sat back down and buried his face in the palms of his hands, thinking hard as anger boiled in his veins. That kid didn't deserve that. Nobody deserves that. He wondered why the boy didn't stand up for himself, though he didn't seem to be the type that did. If the kid couldn't stick up for himself, Travis would. He wouldn't let anyone treat him like that again. He barely knew the kid for Christ's sake, he didn't even know his last name, but that fact didn't bother him. He wasn't going to let that kid get hurt again. No. Not again.

After being yelled at for the remaining minutes of his shift, Sonny gathered up his backpack and school books before heading out the back door of the cafe. He crossed the parking lot, looking around nervously. He turned around at the sound of footsteps behind him. He saw a silhouette standing outside the light of a street light and strained his eyes to make the person out. The figure moved into the light and he recognized the guy he had spilled coffee on, the guy who worked at Jay's, Travis.

"Hey" Travis called, jogging over to where Sonny stood. "You want a ride home or something?" Travis asked. Sonny gave him an uncertain look. He didn't really know his guy, just his first name and the initial of his last name and where he worked. Sonny remembered his mother telling him not to ever get in a car with a stranger, but Travis wasn't exactly a stranger. He couldn't be that bad. "I'm not going to rape you or anything," Travis said with a smile, putting his hands up in what he hoped was a friendly gesture. "It's not good walking alone at this time of night." That was true enough. Sonny couldn't even count the number of times he had been jumped on his way home from work and just the thought of it happening again sent a shiver down his spine.

"Well, okay," Sonny finally said, accepting the offer. "I don't live to far from here, just a couple of blocks away from the shop you work at," he informed Travis. Travis nodded and led Sonny to his sleek black '98 Honda Civic. He held the door open for Sonny as Sonny climbed into the car and shut the door behind him before climbing into the driver's seat.

Travis started the car and Sonny gave him the directions to his house. Then Sonny leaned back into the seat, sighing, relaxing a little. He slipped the arm warmers off of his sweaty skin, hissing as they rubbed against the cuts on his arms. Travis turned at the sound, his eyes landing on Sonny's arm, which was lined with scars and seemingly fresh cuts. Sonny looked up, feeling the burn of Travis's stare, and the two locked eyes. Travis turned away, focusing on the long stretch of road. "Been climbing trees lately?" He joked, trying to lighten the now heavy air in the car. Sonny opened his mouth, about to explain, but he couldn't find the words. "It's okay," Travis said sincerely. "You can tell me another time." He gave Sonny a warm smile, his hand moving to Sonny's thigh, giving it a gentle, comforting squeeze. Sonny gave Travis a small, appreciative smile in return, closing his eyes as the loss of more than a night's sleep got to him.

After a few minutes of driving, Travis pulled up to a one story house. Sonny sat up in the seat, a frown playing at his pierced lips. Travis got out of the car to open Sonny's door and waited for him to step out before shutting the passenger door.

"Thank you," Sonny said, wrapping his arms around his small frame, shivering a little because of the cool breeze that had just picked up.

"No problem," Travis replied, reaching out and rubbing Sonny's arms. "Well," he said after a few moments, "you better get inside before you catch a cold." He gave Sonny a warm smile and Sonny nodded an okay. "Good night, Sonny."

"Good night, Travis," Sonny said, returning Travis's smile. "I'll see you later." He hurried up the steps that led to his front door and waved back at Travis before entering the dark house and shutting the door behind him. "Better sooner than later," Travis said softly before climbing back in his car, his mind racing. He sped off down the dark street. He had to see Sonny again and prayed that it would be soon.

I like the idea of this story, but isn't this chapter exactly like the first chapter of SLC?

http://www.livejournal.com/community/slashypunkboys/2475609.html#cutid1

Maybe try and think of something more original.

Not everyone reads every story written.

And really, if you think about it- alot of the stories that come across these communities are like identical twins. Only a few phrases and perhaps a change in pairings to tell the difference.

I'm not trying to be a hag or anything [really I'm not], just letting you know. Because I've read stories that are exactly the same, minus a change in pronouns. And you can only change but so many things with a story that has the same plot line before it just gets ridiculous, especially in a story like this where 'emo' Sonny is the main character.

This is a good story and it's only the second chapter..
I think she's doing a splendid job.

It's not the fact that it's similar, I know that a lot of stories on here are very similar. The point is that it's almost exactly the same. There is no way that this could happen by chance. I liked this story, I thought the first chapter was good, and I liked the idea of it, but this chapter lost me because it's blatantly copied from another.

Exactly the same?
Really?
I don't recall copying anything.
But I do remember writing the second chapter in black ink in the back seat of my mom's car.

But if you think it's copied, that's fine.
It kind of hurts, but whatever.

And I'm glad that you liked the first chapter.
The second isn't all that great anyway.

kthxbye

I get you there, but being the writer of SLC, I see the undeniably exact similarities better than anyone.

And she also pulled a trick a week ago when she copied the first chapter of SLC pretty much word for word except substituted names. Alot of people recognized it and were pissed so she deleted it. But she still did it. And it looks like this is another attempt at twisting my fic. Hell she was so embarassed she switched lj accounts cause she posted the fic she stole on her account fcknxcore or something like that.

Sorry to bring this up again and again, but I'm still pretty pissed about the whole thing. You can even check the last entry in my journal if you want. It's proof enough.

And what the fuck. Stop deleting my comments woman.

This isn't a matter of coincidence

Oh dear. Well, terrible sorry for my..long wind.
I really wasn't trying to be a hag, it's just, people have a tendency to say stories sound the same. But I honestly don't think you can come up with any original ideas anymore. Somehow, someway, someone else has tried out the same plot. It's a matter of how you develop the plot. Well, if you asked me.

I wasn't trying to slam you or your readers. Do understand that.
Perhaps I should read yours..
