In the Valley...
We are in south Texas.  I have managed to take some great photos already.

:-D

Will update more this afternoon.

This is why I do what I do.  This is why I am in the Army.

Anyway, that's my morning.  See y'all in a bit.

Oh for the love of...
Bob, y'all.

Hello Dolly. You can leave nao, kthxbye.

Have to get packed. Have to get unpacked from the trip I took this weekend.

Need to get a pell up, because at this rate, I'll barely be authorized for
August, to say NOTHING of actually better than horrible.

Need to NOT kill my roommate, because she's waffling on whether or not she's
moving. I wouldn't have brought so much shit with me if I'd known she
wasn't moving.

AGH!

It's kind of one of those days.
I'd be screaming, but that would take energy and right now...I ain't got it.

I do have smiles, because a very dear friend brought me a pretty candle and a sweet card to brighten my day.  It helps, and that horrible wet blanket on my head is a bit lighter and drier now.  Thank you.

Right now, I'm looking at paying down debt.  I've got one card that's no interest until 28 Sept. 2008, and I while I can pay it off now,I'm wondering if I should take that and put it to the other cards we've got.  The interst rates on those will drop as soon as I get the deployment orders and memo ILO orders faxed to them, but until them, we're still paying the regular interest rates, which aren't bad.  Gah.  I'm going to take the two payments that I would be paying to other things and put them toward the payment on the smaller card...crap.  I'm not making any sense.

Okay.

Card One-  $1000 (no intersest until Sep)
Card Two- $1500 (10%)
Card Three- $1650 (14%)

So, I've already paid off two things that were about $250 per month.  I'm going to throw that at Card One, too.

It's a debt snowball, sort of.  I'm suckin' at this though.  Very frustrated, but also working it out.

*sigh*  Need to bulk our emergency fund back up and literally freeze the credit cards again.  I hate that I have to do that, but at least I can recognize when I'm being dumb.

I've gotten everything out of the Killeen house, with two exceptions, and that stuff will be picked up from Diana as soon as I can manage it.

Yay.

Okay, I have stuff to do and I'm babbling.

It's a sleepy babble, but it's there...

Workin' for a living...
But I think I'd rather be sleeping...

I'm working on the newletter for OLS, again. This is nothing new, as I've
been working on this forever it seems, but I'm slowly working out the fiddly
bits of the layout, such as page headers, spacing and other little boxes
that I'm sure will have my tearing my hair out before the operation is over.

Right now, I'm just tired. So tired. You ever have one of those days when
you're working up to something big, possibly something you think will be
terribly unpleasant, and when it all comes go a head, it's just not as
horrible as you expected? Yeah, that's my day. In fact, not only was it
not horrible, it was downright amazing. There are still some things going
on, but really...I'm so incredibly lucky in my life. I have a job I like, a
husband I flat-out adore and friends who just make my day.

Back to working on the newsletter. I'd like to talk about more than I have
been lately. I'd like to talk about sewing more, and getting the house in
Austin set up. I'd like to talk about the photo challenge I'm doing with
the quebecs in my unit. I'd like to have my body stop hating me.

We'll see how I do with those, shall we?

My husband is funny...
I've gotten a request to blog about something other than the girly bits.

I am so tired that I'll figure something out tomorrow.  Trip to Killeen on Wednesday.

Going to fall over now.

So. Not. Amused.
Girly bits,

This is the last time we're having this discussion.  The.  Last.  Time.

Learn to read the damned calender.  Srsly.  I'm no longer amused, not that I ever was.

Not happy with you, so no love,
The rest of the body

Dear self:

When you answer the phone, it is "Public Affairs, Sgt. Atkinson speaking, how may I help you sir, or ma'am?"

NOT "Public Affairs, Spe-Er-Sgt. Atkinson speaking," etc.

Can we please remember this?  We are supposed to be in the communications field...

I have a sinus infection, I think...
And right now, I need that like I need a hole in my head.

I spent most of last night freezing and roasting, with my stomach threatening to abandon ship at any moment.  About three a.m., it finally did, and I felt much better and finally got some sleep.  This morning, I woke up feeling like I'd had my sinuses forcibly injected with a 50 lb. sack of concrete and am sitting here sweating.

This has been one of the hardest moves I've ever done.  I'm overwhelmed and sick, now.

Just kill me.

Yesterday, I was cleaning out one of the many weird little cubbies in the house, and got stabbed with something.  I yanked my hand out and saw this fuzzy reddish-brown thing sticking out of my finger.  I screamed when I realized it was a roach leg.  I was in the corner telling my mom I wanted to go back to Iraq instead of packing and dealing with a damn dead roach.

Isn't this fun?

My Fourth Of July...
Was spent packing and loading.  It was a good day, but tiring.  I'm at [info]brandyeileen's place, and have had a shower and am about to nosh on some cookies n' cream ice cream.  I miss my beloved [info]sappersgt, but God I am so proud of him.

To our nation.  May she continue to thrive and may we try to live up to the ideals for which she stands.

You know, there are some times...
when I just can't muster anything but cynical amusement.

Evidently, Rep. Anthony Weiner thinks the military should be paying New York (and other cities, to be fair) because they're calling up reservists.

Part of it is that New York evidently makes up any shortage a reservist might see when he or she is activated.  That's really pretty cool, but as far as I know, it's not required by federal law, is it?

From the article:  "The loss of first responders poses a particular hardship to New York City’s ongoing effort to keep 8 million residents and 4 million daily mass transit riders safe. Rep. Weiner announced a new comprehensive revenue sharing bill, which will provide $40 billion in Federal aid to economically-challenged cities, including localities incurring costs when first responders are called to active duty.

Rep. Weiner said, “Dozens of New York families have lost loved ones in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But all New Yorkers have paid in economic price for this foreign policy folly.”

MUCH better...
There was good company, good alcohol, dogs playing and a good movie.

My life, while sometimes frustrating and depressing, is mostly...really good.

Thanks, [info]brandyeileen.  I needed tonight.
