killed my laptop [19 Sep 2008|12:51pm]
[ mood | stressed ]

FYI, my (work) laptop hdd died. Couldn't recover any files, it had this ticking noise already. IT guy has called supplier for a replacement but not sure when it'll get here. It's SATA and IT guy didn't have a spare SATA drive, only IDE.

I'm relatively okay with it coz I have most of my files (downloads) stored elsewhere all the time anyway. It's just the work stuff that are important which I never backed up. Ah well, no use crying over spilt water milk.

Using my old desktop which luckily has not been formatted. Unfortunately this damn thing power cycles so I'm on a merry go round every few minutes. It seems to have stabilized now but you never really know with this thing. Could just be lulling me into complacency. In any case, limited movement and all so yeah.

Just an FYI so you know why I'd appear and disappear a lot online.

Fall TV [16 Sep 2008|02:02am]
Listing these down mostly for my reference so I know when to expect episodes.

Picture has nothing to do with this post. Just found it pretty and nostalgic when I was looking through the CBS site. This showed up in their Weekly Top 5 Vintage Shows banner, whose video content is only available to the U.S. Too bad, they had Beauty and the Beast in there too.

Fall TV Schedule )

Will most likely keep current with the series in bold. Still need to catch up with last season's episodes for some of these so will most likely not watch til they get to about 12 episodes and I can archive.

Need to catch up on these )

Not bad. Looks like I'm not too far behind after all.

[R.I.P] Coffee Prince's beloved Min Yeop [24 Aug 2008|08:09pm]
[ mood | sad ]

Lee Un (February 5, 1981 - August 21, 2008)

Local folks may be more familiar with him as Baldo in the local dub of Coffee Prince. He died in a motorcycle accident on his way home from the wrap-up party of what will now be his last drama series.

Seeing that drama reminded me of a couple of series I wanted to check out, so listing them down now before I forget.

Strongest Chil Woo (20)
Hong Gil Dong (24)
Iljimae (20)
Time Between Dog and Wolf (16)
Cafe Kichijouji (to air end of Sept)

Notice the majority of sageuk (historical) dramas. They're not exactly wuxia, but they just tend to interest me more than dramas in modern settings, which tend to be inundated with lame soapy, romantic/drama cliches :/

company volunteer day [18 Aug 2008|11:08pm]
[ mood | glad ]

Got a company missive last week about Company Volunteer Day coming up in October. Looked through the local region's planned activities and was disappointed at the lack of any for our country.

Today I got a call from one of our people asking to have the sign up sheet distributed to the rest off my team. Apparently they haven't updated the site yet on their plans. Also, things seem to be up in the air as they need to gather a hundred people before the event could be approved or something. In any case, I was still glad we HAVE an activity and have the chance to contribute. Tentative plans are to plan trees at the La Mesa. We can bring a guest and are being asked for T-shirt sizes, lol.

Hope they get the details ironed out and this pushes through coz I'm definitely signing up for it.

fast service is fast [06 Aug 2008|01:07am]
[ mood | amused ]

So there's a Starbuck's right outside our office building. It's sort of located in the building proper actually.

I'm a frequent customer especially these past few days what with the rainy season in full swing. So unless they're new, pretty much everyone knows me there now.

Well I'm also a creature of habit so I pretty much order the same things. Today when I went down there they had no customers in queue and there were 4 baristas/cashier people who all knew me. And as soon as I reached the counter pretty much everyone shouted my orders for me, all I had to do was nod and confirm.

Tall Decaf Mocha! Honey-glazed Donut, warmed, to go.

Lol, fastest service I've had ever.

In the Sabrina the Teenage Witch tv series, there's a Room of Appreciation where you open the door and people applaud and praise you. Dropping by this particular Starbuck's and being greeted so warmly always reminds me of that XD

puppy on a bike [23 Jun 2008|07:50pm]
[ mood | random ]

You know how tricycle drivers sometimes have their babies along for the ride? This morning I was on a tricycle where the guy had an adorable wittle puppy riding with him.

I was actually worried it might fall off, it kept moving around and looked like it wanted to get off, but the driver was pretty good at taking care of it so it didn't slip out of his lap. Totally made my day :3

HP TouchSmart IQ506 PC [18 Jun 2008|03:34am]
Good Christ Almighty! o_O

I'd post pictures but the flash link above does a better job of showing this absurdly sleek contraption that's a Mac (screen), PC (Vista OS with TouchScreen software?), and Entertainment (remote control, tv tuner) system all in one. Note: The flash page takes some time to load.

Where's the CPU? It's flat on the back of the monitor. Yes, there's a dvd drive, card reader, and ports crammed into that flat space. The speakers are at the bottom of the monitor. It has a wireless keyboard (which can slide under the monitor) and mouse. And there's only ONE cable for all of this - the power cable.

new shows to watch out for [15 May 2008|10:09pm]
[info]fallpreview just came out with a list of new shows for the major networks for the coming fall season.

Biggest buzz I heard of was the new Joss Whedon entitled Doll House. Premise is interesting enough, but not fond of the actors involved so not very excited about this. Also have a feeling this will spiral into one of those conspiracy shows in a bad way. Or maybe I just don't wanna invest on another show that may easily get axed. And this sounds like a series that needs to be done for the long haul to do it justice.

CBS on the other hand, has some new shows that interest me, particularly the Eleventh Hour with Rufus Sewell and the sitcom Project Gary with Jay Mohr and two children - Louise, a politically correct and environmentally conscious 11-year-old, and Tom, their socially awkward 14-year-old son who is nervous around girls. Definitely checking this out for the kids :)
