| Real Snow |
[Mar. 7th, 2008|07:48 pm] |
It's finally here! Real midwestern snow. There's at least 4-5 inches down already. The first report yesterday was 4"-8", but it's been changed to 6"-10" with 40-45 mph winds. I almost feel like I'm back in NEO or Southern Michigan. |

I just shaved Clifton's head. No blood, no yelling at each other. Did I mention, I've never taken anything sharp to anyone else's head, let alone shaving someone's head. Yeah..... |

So, I'm having Bible Study here. I think about 11 people are coming. I've never had more than about 2 other people here at any given time....... This'll be fun. |

| Story Time!! |
[Feb. 11th, 2008|07:53 pm] |
Well, on Saturday, Clifton and I went to Steak 'n' Shake for a really early lunch/late breakfast. The waitress was trying to hit on him. I'm sure my face was priceless, but I don't think she picked up on it. That was after going to the bank. She was saying how the Edinburgh Outlet mall is better than the one here in seymour (she asked what we were up to this weekend). So we went up there cuz I wanted a new pair of running shoes. The clothing store was amusing. They had some baseball team shirts (cubs, cardinals, white sox, and yankees). Clifton wandered over to them ans said, "Maybe I should get a Yankees shirt." So, I reply, "Well, then, I'd just have to kill you." This older guy nearby just laughed as he heard this conversation. Clifton asks a few minutes later is a White Sox shirt is ok."Well, it's better.... but at least you'd live" The guy almost said something again. I shoulda told him I'm a Cleveland fan through and through.
I was also informed last nite that I'm going skiing this weekend. I don't know how I feel about that..... |

| | content | ] | Well, I figured this was a much needed post. If you want to be mad at me, fine. Yes, it's true that things have been over with Andrew for several months. I chose not to say anything because I didn't want to yet. Some lingering questions were answered last weekend. I also met someone - Andrew seemed to think we "are a good match". That seems to be about the only thing he's gotten right lately. Anyway, Clifton's good for me. |

We had a 2-hour delay today. It was nice, but yeah, it was for the country roads, so I was confused going into school. Oh well. It was nice having more time in the morning....... |

| How hypocritical..... |
[Dec. 22nd, 2007|10:50 pm] |
I just realized something. I'm really picky about movies based on books being accurate. So, why is my absolute favorite movie The Wizard of Oz? That's hardly accurate.........
Oh, also, my other grandfather passed away last week. Both inside 2 weeks. |

| Time for another update. |
[Dec. 9th, 2007|10:12 pm] |
Yes,I know, it's been about 2 months since I last posted. Sorry about that. I've been busy. I know, likely excuse. So here's some of what's been going on:
1) I rode in an event at the fun rodeo with Jacob. It was the egg-in-spoon one. You have to keep an egg in a spoon while riding a horse around the arena. I lasted about half the time.
2) I went the Jacob's family's farm for a hayride followed by a 5-hour horse back riding venture that was very hilly and steep. It was fun and I was really sore for a few days afterwards.
3) Went to Columbus, OH for Natalya's 1st birthday party.
4) The Indiana District Teacher's conference (beginning of Thanksgiving weekend) had Ken Ham. He's an Aussie and founded the Creation Museum down in Kentucky over near Cincinnati and www.AnswersInGenesis.org. I haven't been, but I got some of his books.
5) I was in Ohio for the other half of Thanksgiving at home. Saw Beowulf with dad, saw snow, celebrated Grandpa's 92nd birthday, and found out I could hold both those squirmy nieces at the same time. They're both heavy too. Also saw Jamie's new house.
6) Made several trips to Louisville, KY to see friends
7) Drove up to Nashville, IN, just to see what it's like. It reminded me slightly of what it would be like if you combined Frankenmuth, MI with the attitude if Hudson, OH.
8)The adult bell choir at church performed in a concert that put money in the FOP scholarship fund. We then played in the Advent by Candlelight, which the children's choir sang for also.
9) I got new glasses.
10) I'm now in Michigan for my grandfather's funeral.
11) My other grandfather is in hospice. |

| Fishies have been named |
[Oct. 7th, 2007|10:04 pm] |
Ok. I named my fish. Boy is Orion and Girl is Diana. Yes, I went with mythology again. First of all, I decided to go with constellations and Orion has been my favorite since Italy. Hey, Orion's was said to be the most handsome man around and also the best hunter there was. (Wouldn't that somehow fit into the category of a girl's prince charming, knight in shining armor, etc?). Anyway, and girl became Diana because she was the goddess of the hunt (aka huntress). Apparently she hunted with Orion or something along those lines and she favored him. According to one particular myth, she almost gave up her vows of chastity to marry Orion.
(hmmm....... interesting..... sounds like that could almost be vaguely similar to something else....... in an odd sort of convoluted sandy thinking sort of way......)
Boy being Orion also seemed fitting as according to 2 different myths, Neptune was Orion's father, or Neptune, Jupiter and Mercury gave Orion to a pious peasant.
I love the confusion of mythology.................. |

| just an update |
[Oct. 7th, 2007|07:00 pm] |
well, i was gonna go to early church/bible class today, but i was still really tired and decided to sleep then do bible class/late church. church went an hour and a half because of it being lwml sunday, a baptism, a children's sermon and communion. is it bad that my butt fell asleep in church by the time the sermon was over?
well, so i woke up this morning and heading to put some food in the bowl for neptune, although he hasn't eaten in a week and looking sorta grayish. anyway, he was dead on his plant this morning. but hey, neptune was a well traveled fish for those 3+ years. I think he's traveled somewhere between 7000-10,000 miles with me. And dad says he was a well-behaved fish.
this afternoon i cleaned the 2 bowls i have good after i got a new male and another female. i need names though. any ideas? i was thinking of constellations this time around....... boy's got a blue/purple/red body, blue top fin and red bottom and back fins. girl's mostly white with a couple brown stripes.
Here's a picture of boy and one of girl. Help me name them please. |

So, the Indians are 1 game away from sweeping the Yankees in the ALDS. It'd be great if they do. Especially since game 3 is in NY. |

| [ | music |
| | random playlist | ] | This is what happened this week in SandyLand
1. Was sleep deprived and continued deeper into that hole because I had a cold the week prior and wasn't able to get enough sleep this week due to the following happenings. 2. Last weekend -> made shrimp fried rice. Rode a horse at the church picnic. Turns out it belongs to one of my students. 3. Took my car into Goodyear on Monday for a tire rotation, front and rear end alignments/balances, and to get the check engine light off (having been on for a week and a half). The light came back on driving back to Seymour after spending some time with Andrew, thinking that'd be the last time I will see him for quite awhile. 4. Tuesday was a full day at school, followed by having to take money for the volleyball game, then going straight to Bible Study with the Blackwells and others at the Duffy's house. Only to get home around 9:15 p.m. 5. Wednesday was a regular school day with a "Cinderella" performance the Windy City Players. After school, I took my car to Indianapolis to a Hyundai dealership to get that light off because it was annoying me that badly. Had Andrew been in Jeffersonville, I woulda gone to Loiusville instead because he knows that area far better than I do. He was in Indy for Orientation for his new job, so I went up there to drop my car off. Then I had to get a rental car as they'd have my car overnight, and i kinda needed a vehicle to get home and to school Thursday. I went to the store with Andrew and had dinner with him before I left. 6. School on Thursday and then drove back up to Indy to return the purple PT Cruiser (purple herse, whatever), get my car, and ate dinner with Andrew again. Also had a really bad headache. 7. Friday was a half day with a meeting in the afternoon and other work to be done. Discovered that I had the flu, maybe that's what that headache Thursday was related to. Hurt all over, exhausted and had a 100* fever. After going to the bank, and buying milk, I went home and laid down for a couple hours, had chicken noodle soup, crackers, ice cream and lots of water. The flu finally went away and my fever broke. Went to wal-mart to get yarn to make hats for mattie and ashley to match the scarves i made them during college. 7. Saturday morning, I got up and went to the Salem fairgrounds for Jacob's last rodeo of the JR. rodeo season (the one who's horse I rode). Was there from 10am-5 pm. That was fun. I'll get pictures up later. Was informed that I had given the flu to Andrew, and he wound up getting it worse than I had. He was also in Missouri at the time. 8. Today, I agreed to take up the childrens choir and children's bell choir at church.........
That's what's been going on lately. |

[Sep. 13th, 2007|10:17 pm] |
got my car fixed. the check engine light is finally off. i had to drive up to indy because having to go to a hyundai dealership. and the closest 3 are all an hour away. if andrew had been in louisville, i woulda gone there. but as he's up in indy for training with werner, i went there. i managed to see him 3 times this week. monday, yesterday and today. In the end, it was much time, but I don't know if we'll be seeing each other for who knows how many weeks. anyway, this week i got my tires rotated, front and rear end alignments. that was all on monday. today they fixed the oxygen sensor (covered under the warranty grandpa had gotten) and my oil changed. :::sigh:::
tomorrow is a half day at school. and on saturday i have a rodeo to go to. yes, I said, I have a rodeo to go to........ |
