A fun meme thingy from [info]zombiejam. I even copied her fun huge date-label idea. >_>

"snagged from [info]maiteoida
Instructions:
1. Post 5 old artworks from 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004.
2. Post your most controversial picture -- one you might have received hate mail for.
3. Post your favourite picture so far from 2005."

It took me TWO GODDANG HOURS to find all these drawings and gather them together. Sheeesh.

1) I'm a filthy cheater and started with 1999 instead of 2000. Anyway, it's Aya Brea from Parasite Eve! I had to be about 13 around this time.

2) This is the reason why I started with 1999! It seems that the only art I have from the year 2000 features Sailor Moon characters. From the chest up. Ignoring all anatomy below the collar...AAAAND usually copied from trading cards, back when I thought "fanart" meant "drawing the exact pose that Naoko Takeuchi drew."

3) I came out of my Sailor Moon phase with a rather boring style to show for it! I started getting into Watase (through Ayashi no Ceres), but nothing comes of this for a while yet.

Anyway, I found it hard to believe that this was from 2001 because my stuff from 2002 sucked sooooo much more (or maybe I'm just wowed since I actually USED COLOR). This girl was a character from a small comic my friend and I decided we would write and draw someday. He wrote lots of stuff and I sketched many pages, but like most of my projects nothing was ever finished. >_>

4)

Because 2002 was a diverse year for me, here are two selections:

Random people, probably drawn in class! The sun was quickly setting for my love of DBZ.

But lo, the sun rose to greet some hardcore I-WISH-I-WERE-WATASE action.

5) Watase still reigns strong! This had to be one of the first drawings I scanned and colored in Photoshop. It's also the ONLY original drawing from mid-2003 (besides comic stuff) that I could find. What the hell!

6) My style hadn't changed from 2003, so instead of boring you with more redundant style stuff, heres something that relies more on color. You can see 2004 style-representative stuff here or here.

7) The one on the right is my favorite picture from 2005, thus far. And thank God, I take a turn in style from here. I keep the AnC influence for things like hair and the eyes (sorta), but lots of other things start creeping in. LIKE MY WACOM INTUOS III, BABY <333

PHEW. All-in-all, I'm not neeearly as far along as I'd like, but everyone says that about their work. Oh well, I'll just KEEP ON TRUCKIN'.

[edit]

[edit]

Hold the phone! I totally forgot about the controversial picture. I actually don't draw much that pisses people off, so I'm clearly not doing my job as an artist. This got some people pretty steamed, though.

[edit again]

Now for some COMICS!

2002- This was my first scanned and computer-shaded comic. I used to draw comics about my friends and I having crazy adventures doing whatever, and the people we didn't like would be the bad guys.

2003- A year later, the same comic:

2004- Here's a sight for sore eyes, another year later!

2005- This last one is not much of an improvement in my comicing skills, but I'm not really in practice.

I wanna see y'alls shiz, too. If you're an artist, help spread this meme around!

Man, I totally forgot all the comics I did for my friends in HS, starring us of course XD I should go find them they were AWFUL!

Wow the 2003 page is like, straight up Watase (which is actually impressive to me cause her style is really hard IMO to even duplicate X_X)

Comics for friends are the best! They're done out of love and drawn knowing no one is gonna judge the art. <3

I love Watase's work, but her style is too soft and graceful for me to draw now. :/

It's weird, Watase is one of my biggest influences I think, I mean I loooove her work, but I dont think thats EVER shown in my actual drawing style. Dunno X_X

You've got that cool angular style! The way you draw hair may be a little Watase'd, since your peeps' hairstyles have so much detail.

...Unless that's just anime influence in general. >_>;

*Laugh* You know, Rebecca (Becca?), I can't properly participate in this seeing as how I've only been drawing since 2003! I could pull out some crappy drawings from high school, but there'd be a 2-3 year gap between them am college stuff.

So, is it just me or did your skills take a rather drastic leap upward once you hit Photoshop?

I'd say my largest leap occured when I got a tablet! When I got Photoshop, all that taught me was to erase my lineart mistakes so that things looked better than they originally were. :/

Hey now! Crappy high school drawings count, even if there's a break! I showed my high school crapola, everyone else must shaaare.

Hehe, we'll see. My high school stuff is all in raleigh anyway, so it'll have to wait until I make a trip home.

Same here. I barely drew anything from 1996 to 2002, and if I did, I didn't save it.
