Hello, lovely people.

In neglecting the comic, I have also neglected to post updates here. I haven't been as inactive as it looks. We have three more pages of chapter four, starting here. And a Sleep in the Fire page. I've been intentionally neglecting Sleep in the Fire, which is a little silly considering how few pages are left. But I'm really enjoying the adventures of Victor and his pale friend.

Chapter Four: Copper and Stars has begun! The Victor fans will be happy to see that he's back after disappearing for a chapter.

What has he been doing in the downtime?
Pissing off bartenders.
Notice, he's sitting at the bar, but not ordering anything. Bartenders tend not to like that.

Victor will be the focus of the next storyline, as we meet the people he gets his blood from (he is, afterall, a vampire).

I'm thinking I'll update with another regular page next week (instead of Sleep in the Fire), since Sleep has really been frustrating me lately. The week after that, I'm going camping. I'm not sure if I'll be back in time to update, so I might just post some of the lovely fanart I've gotten lately.

Oops, this certainly is a trend, for every two weeks I update this thing. Oh wells.

Last week, Sleep in the Fire updated.

This week, the interlude continues, still grayscale (of course).

Oh, and we have a new vote image. So go vote for SoaD. We're hovering in the 190's as it is. Awesome.

Ha, I didn't neglect LJ for a WHOLE week this time.

So, first and foremost: the main page is all rearranged!
You'll now find thumbnails to the left and right of the most recent updates (main story at the left, Sleep in the Fire at the right). Clicking there takes you to the new page.

Hopefully I'll be ambitious enough to fix the rest of the html pages, but gosh darn does HTML frustrate me!

Secondly: oh yeah the new page I suppose if you read my comic, you care more about that than the html for it.

And last and least, new vote image. Warning: contains Xan as a zombie nurse. Because I've been playing too much Silent Hill. Is that a bad thing?

Sorry I was gone a while. As some of you may have read elsewhere (including my personal journal), my grandfather fell ill and shortly after passed away.

So, I'm back. The break was necessary, but I'm happy to be back at the ol' tablet, sketching and drawing again.

Here's the update.

And, d'oh, before I went on brief hiatus, I forgot to post here that the final page of chapter 3 went up. Whoops.

I meant to update this last week, after I got some sleep. Yet sleep cleared my brain, and poof, I forgot.

Things are bleak in both storylines.
Sleep in the Fire has blood and final words.
The main story has a dead body being dumped in hell. Also, the love birds are getting a bit agitated.

Additionally, the vote image is new.

I've changed my mind about the upcoming interlude for the main story. It'll be (thankfully) shorter, but my plans for chapter four are completely rearranged. Chapter four, as previous envisioned (Cossack, fighting, etc) will be turned into chapter five. Chapter four will now feature a scene about Victor that originally was going to be very brief to fit in the interlude. And there will be a Lu and Drake scene. Not sure what else will go in Chapter four. Maybe some Xan, just to check in on her, and a scene to establish Hanna becoming a depressed alcoholic.
Wheeeee.

New page. A little late. Phooey.

It features what happens to Sergei. No blood or gore, but he's still messed up.

There should only be two pages left to this chapter, unless a character or scene SCREAMS at me. Then the interlude (one scene, with Niabi and Arthur again, and another visiting what Victor's been doing, and his new friends). And then chapter 4. Cossack vs. Angel. FIGHT!

So, in review...
Last week:
Main storyline. Hanna, Drake, and harsh words.
This week:
Sleep in the Fire. Young Hanna, her little sis, their uncle, and bloodshed. Warning: bloodshed! Not my most graphic page, I think, but still, if you worry...um... I can't help you there.
Voter Reward Page. Hanna from a few years ago, Richard, and awkward flirting.

Oh yes, it truly is a Hanna-rific time in SoaDoubt.

My plan now is to say the comic updates on Monday. I used to say Sunday, but I tend to update around midnight, if not a bit later. If I say Monday, it's on time, if not a smidge early. Took me how long to come up with that brilliant plan? Oh well.

The playlist I've been listening to while drawing is a mix of Matson Jones (especially "Dirt Sea" and "Sabotage"), Kubicheck, Metric (just found out about them, and love them), Editors ("Munich" is top of my list), Tokyo Police Club ("Citizens of Tomorrow", and "Cut Cut Paste"), and bits of the Run Lola Run soundtrack.

Subject:	I need to make a new Hanna icon

Hanna and Drake, reunited for the first time since about the middle of the first chapter (his appearance was VERY small).

Warning, a bit of violence.
Poor Hanna. I do beat her up so.
If you're a Hanna fan, I hope you forgive me for abusing her. She's got lessons to learn, and a thick head to get through.

It might help to be reminded that Hanna doesn't know about the bombing. She's been unconscious for most of the day, then was bumming around reading or napping. She hasn't watched the news, and no one (not even Sergei) has told her what happened. Hanna will get that across to Drake in the next page.

I probably made her bruise too fast, but that's a tricky thing to draw.

I forgot to post here last week-
The comic DID in fact update, on New Year's Eve no less.

Plus, today, we have new Sleep in the Fire.
And, as a little after-comic mint, there's a mini comic up for the vote reward. Well, it's part one of several pages of mini comic (three, at least). And, it's the very shabby rough draft. But, meh... maybe you'll enjoy it.

AND...in that gap in December when I wasn't making comics, I was making filler. Double filler, actually.

I should warn you, I'm not sure if I'll have the time to update next week. There's a big project at work that will take up my weekend. I'll try my best to get one ready during the week, though. I'd really hate to break the weekly run I've been doing. Cross your fingers!

While the violence in Sleep in the Fire was a bit more bloody, most of the violence in the main story will be light, off panel, or internal/spiritual and thus invisible to the reader's eye. So if you were looking for blood and guts, well... not quite.
We'll check back on Lu and Sergei after visiting Isobel, and then Hanna.

I slept in, watched a little of the stuff I recorded (Journeyman is surprisingly good!!), and even got distracted by the 30 Rock marathon on Bravo (how did they know my weakness?!).

Yet, somehow, I managed to finish the update for this week.

Tonight, I present to you Sleep in the Fire. The eleven page long scene is over. With a bang AND a whimper, I believe.

Next up, Hanna's messed up childhood.

I took a nap today, and watched 20 minutes of Silent Hill (the movie). Yet, I wasn't TOO late in updating. I am proud.
