FilKONtario

April 6th, 2005 (09:00 am)

FilKONtario was ........ I'm not sure about which word to use. Lets try a few. Exhasuting, I came in utterly tired. We had to commute, and I wanted to stay up late. Naw, those things are true but don't reflect the real feelings. Oh oh oh ... magical... thats the word. On Saturday evening during Michelles request filk and during the poker chip bardic that followed, I sat and listene. there was (for me at least) magic in the air. I din't do as much wandering as I usually do mostly because I had offerdto host the filk that night. But there was magic, it carried over from Friday night, during Judiths workshop I kept on hearing snatches of Irish music, I wandered around a little and kept on getting whifs of magic. And On Sunday after the offical closing I wandered through the funcion space, it seemed that I could still hear echos of music, many times during the weekend I felt much the same as I did during FilKONtario (No number) It may have been the second best filKONtario ever. thanks to all who attended, we can't have a con without you. Thanks to the con com, we've jelled amazingly this year, thanks Peggi for herding us so well, thanks to my Mom and Dad for surrounding me with music as a child and that it is such an important part of my life.

The only thing I regret is that I left just early enough that I missed the choir, that sounded WAY cool!

See ya'll next year!

The best FilKONtario.....

was the first one, not FilKONtario 1 as some people say, because I never envisioned that I'd do it more than once. There are several reasons it's my favourite. One was the generosity shown by the community, it still stuns me. Another was watching things come together and building something that worked form the ground up. Mostly it's because on Saturday night I was staniding in a corner trying to figure out if we could cover our costs and trying hard not to cry and Bob Laurent came up to me and said "it's all your fault you know" I said "whats is" He said "these people are all having a wonderful time and it's all your fault" then I did dry

Perhaps it's a selfish thing, but it felt good to know I'd done someting poeple had enjoyed.
