She was hanging a flyer for a seminar called "Living Without Drugs". I asked her when the "Living With Drugs" seminar was being held. "No, no" she said, "It's Living Without Drugs." "That's too easy" I replied. "Living with drugs is much more difficult." |

I'm thinking about changing my lj username. I've got an idea for a new name that I think is way more hilariouser. Should I go for it? |

Poetry family, There's already been some chatter about this, but Christopher Lee has gone missing for some days now. Last anyone heard from him, he had gone to Dallas. Without going too deeply into it, a Missing Persons report has been filed. If anyone has heard from our boy, or has info / ideas, please respond. Also please spread the word far and wide to anyone who knows Chris. The message below is from Chris' mother, Carol. Thanks y'all, Mike Henry FROM CAROL: "I am Chris's mother, Carol. I'm sure you've heard that he is missing. This morning I talked to the Missing Persons Detective at the Dallas Police Department, Det. T.D. Smith, and he asked that we let all of Chris's friends know that he is missing. The direct line to Det. Smith is 214-671-4245, if anyone has information. Chris will be put on the national missing person list today. Thanks, Carol Spaulding" |

last night R & I came up with a new trick & I think it's hilarious go to a restaurant & ask for a namesake drink "welcome to opal divine's can I get you something to drink" "uh yes I'd like an opal divine" q: "what's an opal divine?" (I imagine the waiter saying) a: "a glass of water with a green bean in it" I can't stop laughing over it it doesn't even mean anything I would hope the waiter wasn't a spitter I guess if questioned, we could claim that we're secret agents exchanging passwords with a possible contact |

I found this book in the Poetry Center last week & my mind is blown. It's 541 pages & it's called the battlefield where the moon says i love you a poem by frank stanford a motherfucking poem. Long long longass lines & not a stanza break to be found. Here's the first few lines: tonight the gars on the trees are swords in the hands of knights the stars are like twenty-seven dancing russians and the wind is I am waving goodbye to the casket of my first mammy well that black cadillac drove right up to your front door and the chauffeur was death he knocked on the screen he said come on woman let's take a ride he didn't even give you time to spit he didn't let you take the iron out of your hair you said his fingernails was made out of water moccasin bones and his teeth was hollow he was an eggsucker you said he reached up under your dress and got the nation sack you said the conjure didn't work he didn't smell the salt in your shoes I am in love srsly. How come no one ever told me? |

Greetings from Austin 4:05AM CST Tuesday, August 19th. Rainy & I fly out in a few hours. She's getting some rest while I shore up last minutes. Things are hectic. It has been a good trip here in so many ways. Didn't get to see many, enough, but oh the ones I did. We gather here together in honor & love & sadness & that gathering is something no one can take away from us. For those who would want to know, the service was wonderful. The small boat pulled just past the North Jetty in Port Aransas around 7PM. A few words & Sheila asked Blake for the box. She cut the bag & released Shannon shortly afterward. Brave warrior I see the strain. As we coasted back along the pier, we looked & saw the sunset brushed with a stationary rainbow much like a peacock feather, & a lone dolphin in the water. We took these to be signs, & to hear Sheila say "She's on her way to Capetown" made us both smile. The full moon rose over the water as we took over a small patch of beach & just relaxed & had fun. We bodysurfed in the moonlight, we had Olympic speed-walking competitions. We stood around the fire & ate chicken & told a few stories. Maybe some poets wanted to say a poem, but I'm glad we didn't; there have been a lot of poems said already, & it felt like time to let it rest, to let the moon & waves & sand be the poem, & in that space to let go. If you know Sheila, & Ron, if you know a poet, friend, give them a call sometime soon. Cut the bullshit. No one can take away that gathering. It's exactly the help a loved one might need. |
