The cable genie came and took away my (free) cable while I was in Taiwan. Of course, this was incredibly distressing for me, since I'm such a TV junkie.
However, when George came over to install the antenna that I had once used (before realizing I could actually GET cable) and started flipping through the (limited) channels, a strange thing happened.
The screen was incredibly nice-- not at all like even the clearest cable channel. That was when I realized-- my antenna picked up ABC ON HD!!!!!!!
Thursday will be a Grey's party with all the peeps and the inauguration of my awesome HD-ness.
SCORE. This is practically the same as getting bumped up to business on the awesome scale.Current Mood: cheerful Current Music: An-Jing

It's been a long time since I've posted. Lots have happened, but the main reason that I'm posting today is to let all of you know that google now lets you pick a theme for your google homepage. The best part is that the theme changes as the day changes. I picked the fox (he's cute, the theme is asian, and there's tea involved!) and you should all go pick something out for yourselves so you can be happy when you navigate to google!
In other, not so happy news, I miss Taiwan. A lot. But, I've made a big life decision. I'm done with this horrible winter weather. It can go away, or I will. I've decided as soon as I'm done with my obligations here, I'm moving out West. Perhaps Seattle. It sounds nice. Not that I've ever been, but I hear it doesn't snow. Score.Current Mood: jet lagged Current Music: 周杰倫

I have a brand new Macbook Pro! I got it just in time for school to start. I'm still getting used to it and, thus far, I'm not sure what the hoopla is about. It's a little blurry, but I'm not sure whether that's just the font, or whether it's a real problem. I've grown comfortable and set in my ways in terms of an OS, so there's definitely an adjustment period.
My last semester here has started. Classes are alright. I'm done applying for programs for next year, and I hope Yale-New Haven calls me back, mostly because I really don't want to work in Bridgeport. Cross your fingers for me.
It's cold now, which really sucks. But, George is getting me warm shoes for my birthday and they're on their way here now. I should stop buying shoes or just buying in general, but that's just never gonna happen. I'm a spoiled, materialistic American. I should renounce my worldly ways and join a nunnery.Current Mood: undecided

My grandfather bought tickets to Opening Ceremony for 2008. For whoever wants to come. We'll probably stick around for a few more days, and then we'll probably make a trek around China afterwards. MJY is going to be my guide.
Olympics, here I come! This is the dream! My obsession! I'm so excited I could pee in my pants.Current Mood: Super Excited

I'm a bit late with this, but it's forgiveable since the internet here kept sending me to www.starwoodhotels.com. Anyway, if you don't know already, I'm in Puerto Rico for a few days. It's about 80 degrees here and we're right by the beach. Sweet deal, yes.
Hope you and yours were happy and joyous!Current Mood: cheerful

I went to Ft. Lee yesterday to visit the [amazing] man, Jay, who apparently is the most fabulous Asian hair guy *ever*-- so much so that when someone needs to do hair, they are willing to leave Manhattan for New Jersey. A shocker, I know.
Anyway, I'd been really tired of my hair, so I wanted a change. I always liked the idea of having curly hair, but it's never worked out very well for me. Since MJY so highly recommended him, I thought I'd talk to Jay about it and see what he could do for me.
3.5 hours later, I came out of the salon with a fabulous perm that was totally low maintanence. Jay said that I don't have to blow dry, I don't have to curl or anything else. Simply scrunch and it'll look nice. It'll last from 6 months to a year.

Yesterday, George and I went to the taping of the Colbert Report.
Unfortunately, it started off rocky because I had forgotten to take my phone along, which wouldn't have been bad, if I hadn't been meeting Flo for dinner. So we missed the train that we were supposed to take. We didn't get there until 5:15, at which time we ended up at the end of the line. Of course, George was bitching the whole time about how we weren't going to get in.... Until I told him to put a sock in it.
Finally, at 6:30, we were told that we were going to get in. We were packed into this tiny room and waited until after 7 to actually get into our seats. However, since the theater was small, we actually pretty good seats.
The warm up guy was a bit crass, but since everyone was so pumped for Stephen, everyone got totally into it. They were runing very late, so they gave away T-Shirts, but sadly I didn't have a bitter story to tell, so I didn't get a T-shirt.
Anyway, taping finally started around 8 (I had to sneak texts to Flo so that she knew we were going to be late. Because of my lateness, she just had to go to Bloomie's and get some shoes... I'm a bad person). Show was awesome. Super, super funny. We were able to ask some questions to Stephen, and this guy asked about the flag of South Carolina and Stephen went into this long thing about it. Smart man, that Stephen.
The taping only took about 20 minutes, and there was only 1 mistake that they had to retake (the Tivo segment). Because it ran so late, we couldn't stalk Stephen like I wanted, but we met Flo at the restaurant and the food was totally yummy. All in all, a very good night!Current Mood: enthralled
