Reality, and what is it? part 1 Reality, and what is it?
If you were to ask me if I Believe in reality my response would probably be ,“I believe in what WE perceive to be real.”, just because I believe in what is real here does not mean it is to be an actual reality. People I believe should hold reality itself in question, though people tend not to think about why?, where?, how? and most of all what reality is. Every individual holds a undoubtedly different perspective of reality making no two realities the same what we hold to be reality and information we gather on reality is likely only .02% of what may be of our actual reality, and by actual reality I mean the reality of which inhabits humankind as a whole. So most of humanity will not question that in which they see, take for example:
“The grass is always greener on the other side”
However we know grass is only green as the refraction of light off chlorophyll as it same with say a red firetruck where light only refracts off of chemical compounds giving the illusion of a red firetruck. So lets say for example we have this red firetruck into a pitch black abyss yet somehow without light we can see then most likely the firetruck would not be of any color that resembles red as there is no light to refract. So in this example what makes that real? most will simply say because it is obviously green grass and it is a red firetruck? I Contend that its the mind that creates the illusion, as the grass is no more green than the firetruck, as the firetruck is no more red than the grass. The mind can easily be tricked by our five senses, so then the mind should easily be able to trick the senses like wise, much like you cannot call black a color without having white or vice versa if in fact these colors exist beyond our minds perception. This all adds up to what I call,“the blind man from birth Paradox” ...What color does he see? What would happen if he acquired vision? the age old question in which you can't ask. Theoretically by the people with a visual cortex would say they see black. Well if black is a color than a man is not blind as he can distinguish something only logical to the minds perception therefore he sees nothing but what is nothing to one who doesn't see. Nothing is a descriptive term which is described by that in which is not there,so if a man is born blind than nothing is a meaningless term, if the blind man sees through touch and sound, than what is his true perception of us seeing past basic shapes. If the Blind man gained vision having never used his eyes,would he ever trust that sense of sight? Would he find it a hindrance or understand what he sees?could it throw him into a loop of insanity? It would first off be in question if his mind would recognize impulses to his brain, but lets say his mind does. Would his perception of the world and reality be greatly altered? Given that reality is all of perception than senses being stimulated would in general alter ones perception, would the altered perception alter ones reality or would the new senses be distrusted therefore making it surreal? Would the surreal then blend into the real making one insane? I do not have answers but only the questions. Are we also fooled by our Perception of touch? Our entire sensory system is made up of electrical receptors sending electrical charges to the brain making the perceptive reality of a texture being true but may not be definite. take for example having nerve damage in your left hand and having a normal right hand, thus is my reality to prove my point. now normally if I were blindfolded and held my right hand over an open flame I immediately know its hot and not in my best interest to keep my hand there,however my left hand perceives it as cool and might hold it there for a few seconds before I perceive it as being hot, who feels like eating a fully cooked hand? So perception of touch is only that a perception not a way to be positive of what is real, though in the perception of our mind it is as real as one can get. and if a perception of touch can be altered than what says it cant be tricked by the mind or be slightly different between all people. therefore can we really trust what we feel?
