5:44 pm - Remind me I need to buy bootleg at MicroCon --;!
I have to remind myself that I need to buy that bootleg copy of Spellbinder from the bootleg DVD guy at MicroCon --;. I wasn't sure if his copy contained series 2, Spellbinder 2: Land of the Dragon Lord. Fox Family Channel only showed part of the series before it was completely pulled off the air for some unknown reason. I NEVER got to see the end of the series o~O, so I was surprised to see it at the bootlegger's table at FallCon. Unfortunately, I had no idea how many episodes series 1 lasted, so I wasn't sure if the copy he had was just of series 1 or had series 2 in it. I'll have to check out his last DVD of the set the next time he's in town.

Another bootlegger said he had copies of W.I.T.C.H. season 2 on DVD. I have half of season 2 on DVD thanks to Chris/[info]lambertman, but I would like to get the rest of season 2 on DVD as well. I don't think my VCR editing will do the job too.

2:15 pm - Okay, now I'm &%(#&_%&*!
I just called Source to see if they got my e-mail with my blackmail-able photos okay and to congratulate Nick on winning the auction. Nick wasn't there, so I talked to Hans instead about that scum from Cedar Cliff Collectibles selling MCBA sketch cards on eBay for jacked up prices. Everyone knew when they agreed to do this that this would happen, of course. I found out that said scum gave the kid who had the Alex Ross Joker sketch card was only given $200.00 for the card >8(! The kid really needed the money, and the scum offered him a pittance of what he's asking for now!

Hans said Nick was afraid this might happen if any of the dealers got a hold of the complete artists' set which is why he bid so high for it. He didn't want their greedy mitts to break up the set on eBay. Hans also said Nick intends on donating the set to the MCBA to put up on display in subsequent art shows for everyone to enjoy. I'll have to remember NOT to buy things from Cedar Cliff Collectibles EVER again!

6:48 pm - The blue bacon on I-35W's new bridge!
I found some images of the new I-35W bridge at night with the blue bacon in case anyone is wondering how the fat stripes look blue. After I showed these pictures to my friend, Kris, after I had been referring to the markers as bacon, she sends me this graphic:

We both know the whole bridge collapse wasn't funny --;, but considering what the markers look like, this graphic is eerily too coincidental.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, JOE!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DIANA!

I hope you both got/get plenty of cake, ice cream, and presents all around! Any birthday wishes? If so please post here! Joe/[info]gameshowman, I sent something your way yesterday, but processing will probably take a few days. Please let me know when you receive it safely!

I've been trying to catch-up on posts since last Friday all this week o~O! I took half the day off Friday to have lunch and spend time with Barbara, an old graduate school classmate of mine, that I hadn't seen in years! We were supposed to meet at Midtown Global Market at 12:30 p.m., but I didn't get there until 1:00 p.m. because I was caught up in the office at the last minute. Traffic was also a nightmare along the route I decided to take through Uptown X(! I didn't want to have to double back since Midtown Global Market doesn't have an exit to it along any major highway route even though it's right off of I-35W, so I tried a more unconventional but direct route. It didn't work --;. I'm just so glad Barbara waited for me there. We had an awesome afternoon together! The food there was delicious as usual =9! I also found out what was that strangely seasoned corn-on-a-cob I had eaten at TPT's/KTCA's block party was. It was an elote, a Mexican corn-on-a-cob seasoned with mayonnaise, parmesan cheese, and hot pepper powder! Now I wonder if the vendor I had bought it from was the same as the Midtown Global Market food vendor.

This past weekend, I wanted to go to the big antique show and flea market extravaganza at the State Fair, but I couldn't because I needed to help Mom with a few errands. This weekend I have reserved for FallCon! The guest list looks HUGE this year, but I guess that should be expected since they moved FallCon from the Education Building to the Grandstand this year. I'm not even sure if I can spot the must-see guests this year from it. Ooo! I just noticed Don Rosa is going to be there again! I've got to see him again! I got an awesome large sketch of $crooge McDuck from him last time X)! Awww, it looks like Matt Feazell isn't coming though.

I've already been booked as a guinea pig for McKenzie/[info]nidarichards this year for my stunt with Gene. I just hope McKenzie's request doesn't scare Gene ^^;. I also plan on staking out the Grandstand area around 7:00 a.m. or earlier to see if I can get a spot on Adam Hughes' list, again --;. I think this will be my 10th try doing so, but it's actually been 11-12 years since Hughes wasn't there last year. Since it's a new venue, I have NO idea where everyone will be, so I hope someone will point me in the right direction once I'm let in o~O! I plan on bringing With the Light Vol. 3 on the long wait before opening. I think that should be enough for me to read. If not, the other trade paperbacks I'll be bringing for signing, which I keep forgetting to bring, will entertain me as well!

Any autograph or sketch requests from the guest list? If so, PLEASE let me know before Friday late afternoon!

3:52 pm - The secret meme and too-much-information tales ;b!
Kristin/[info]kurisuu posted this on her LJ: Ben & Jerry, please PLEASE don't listen to PETA's plea!

When my sister was here for the funeral, she told me some 'interesting' tales from her ER duties in NYC. Cut for the squeamish, but I guess text is safe for work? )

Now the super secret Jeopardy!-like meme which I got from Kelly/[info]kwsapphire! Here are my answers! There are several LJ friends among the answer, but can you guess what I'm answering?

6:42 pm - The funeral and the Emmys.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, ROBERT!

I hope you got plenty of cake, ice cream, and presents all around! Any birthday wishes? If so please post here! I miss you on LJ ;(!

I'm SO far behind because of the funeral, and I will probably not catch up until tomorrow or Wednesday --;. The funeral was okay I guess, but there were several bad awkward moments which I'm not at liberty to discuss publicly. Now I feel even sadder for his mom though ;_;.

I watched both the Creative Arts and Primetime Emmys on Saturday and Sunday. As usual, the Creative Arts ceremony had to be drastically edited for time by editing out the nominee list announcements and all the acceptance speeches except for the ones for outstanding guest actors and actresses, which I myself felt was completely unfair. They should have gotten the editing cuts as well >;b! I was pleasantly surprised to see the made special mentions for recently departed animator Bill Melendez and voice-over legend Don LaFontaine during the presentation. As Kristy/[info]cornrelish already mentioned on the Voicechasers forums, Gargoyles fans should be happy and proud to know that Keith David won the Emmy for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for his narration work in PBS' The War miniseries! I was wondering if that was Keith I saw in one of the audience shots I had seen earlier, and it really was him 8D! Sadly, his acceptance speech, like all the others, were cut to a bare minimum though. For some reason, I can't find him listed on the Academy's website among the winners =/. I also couldn't believe some of the categories the Academy bestows awards onto like the one for Best Commercial o~O? WHY?! Also, E! interrupted the broadcast a couple of times for news about a plane crash involving the drummer for Blink 182 and then resumed the show IN PROGRESS instead of replaying what was missed during the interruption. It was already an edited program, so why cut it even further with the 'breaking' news?

The big Primtime broadcast was quite entertaining despite the length. I loved Josh Grobin's TV theme song montage tribute. He even nailed the voices used in some of the theme songs perfectly like the one used for South Park. Probably THE best moment of the evening though was when Ricky Gervais demanded Steve Carell give him the Emmy he had 'accepted' in his place last year XD! Supposedly, according to Gervais in the segment, Carell 'kept' the Emmy instead of giving it to him because Carell has yet to earn an Emmy of his own. Carell's deadpan face looked priceless during the whole thing while Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert were giggling after seeing the replay of their 'celebration' with Carell last year for Gervais' Emmy. While it looked like an impromptu skit, it really wasn't since in the end, Carell reached under his seat to pull out the Emmy he had supposedly 'kept' from Gervais. Later, when Stewart and Colbert went up to present an Emmy, I was a bit sad Gervais, who was nominated in one of the categories they were presenting, didn't win that Emmy. I would have LOVED to have seen what would have happened if Stewart and Colbert really did have to present another award to Gervais while Gervais was actually there X}!

I was happy to see Colbert FINALLY win an Emmy for his show for Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Program or Series, but The Colbert Report lost to The Daily Show once again for Best Variety or Music Program or Series. Also, sadly, Colbert correctly predicted that he would lose Best Performance for a Variety or Music Series to Don Rickles. I guess the phrase, "RICKLES!" will be echoed along with, "MANILOW! BENNETT!" and "RAIN!" I can't wait to see The Colbert Report tonight or whenever they start taping it again after last night's Emmys.

2:04 pm - I drove across it.
I drove across one of the new I-35W bridge last night on the northbound side on my way home. I didn't get to drive across it yesterday morning because I had a dental appointment, and the clinic is closer if I drove the detour route on the 'back' side. You can see photos from the opening ceremony yesterday morning here from the Associated Press. The new bridge has a slight arch now, so it's somewhat hilly to drive across. I don't know if they made a slight arch for more support or design purposes though. The lights are situated from the center aisle now to give a fountain-ish look to them. Finally, the bridge's ends are marked by strips of blue bacon, which you can see from the AP's photos which look white, like fat stripes, in daylight. At night, they light up blue. They're supposed to represent the Mississippi River, but they still look like strips of bacon to me, complete with fat stripes ;b! There are now 5 lanes on each bridge instead of 4, but the extra lanes all disappear once you drive off the bridge.

It was somewhat surreal driving across it again for the first time since I started avoiding it when MnDORK was doing shaky work on the bridge's surface. It almost seemed normal, but the new arch reminded me it wasn't the same old bridge I had driven across for almost my entire life. I felt the same when I drove on the southbound side to work today. It was also weird seeing I-35W expand to 5 lanes just for that small stretch before going back down to its usual 4.

I'm leaving work early today to pick up my sister at the airport. She's visiting for the weekend for a funeral we're all going to on Monday. My Mom's friend's son died suddenly of acute Leukemia Monday 8(! He was fine up until last week when he started feeling a bit dizzy. This past weekend, he started vomiting and passing out. He was taken to the ER where eventually his brain died ;_;. He was only 26 or 27. I saw him grow up, go to school, college, etc.. He was even on KARE-11's Whatever show for awhile as one of its hosts when he was in high school. He was a good kid ;(. I'm worried about his mom. He was everything to her and kept her company while her husband worked at very odd hours. No parent should outlive their kids.

6:02 pm - Any They Might Be Giants fans?
I know this is VERY last minute, but I just got a reply from Target YESTERDAY about their Children's Book Festival for Saturday. It LOOKS like They Might Be Giants will be doing a signing after their performance according to the schedule, but, of course, I'm not 100% certain about it either. Is anyone here a fan, besides me ;b, and would like me to try and get an autograph from them? If so, PLEASE post here and let me know before Friday evening-ish, and I'll do my best! I've got to remember to bring a camera too --;!

I myself blame Tiny Toon Adventures for making me a fan via their music videos ;P!

4:18 pm - When it rains, it pours, AGAIN X(!
Every weekend seems like the 'perfect' weekend for everyone here to schedule big events! I thought that weekend in August with the 3 art fairs, Kakkoi Con, and Jim Lee was already harsh, but I guess organizers have decided to do it AGAIN this weekend o~O! I WAS just going to the Centennial Lakes' Fall into the Arts Fair this weekend, but there's also the Target Children's Book Festival in Bloomington on Saturday with a free performance (and possible signing) by They Might Be Giants, a small record expo also on Saturday (i.e. the Minneapolis Music Expo) which I sometimes frequent to find rare recordings, AND the Junk Bonanza near my workplace with 'junk' for sale from Thursday through Saturday! AUGH O~O!

At least I can look at the Junk Bonanza Thursday or Friday since it's near work during lunchtime and eliminate that off my list. As for the Target Children's Book Festival, for some STUPID reason, NO ONE HAS A SCHEDULE POSTED for it yet ANYWHERE! I'm surprised that both Target and the Star Tribune, which is also sponsoring the event, doesn't have a thing on either their websites about it except for a list of guests, the time, and location. The only thing Target has up about it is LAST YEAR'S festival via a press release with all the information on it for last year! I called both Target and the Star Tribune, and BOTH PLACES ARE CLUELESS about THEIR festival too! They're both 'looking' into it for me, and hopefully, someone will get back to me with a schedule by Saturday o~O!

I'll probably have to skip the record expo, AGAIN, as I have for the past dozen or so because of scheduling conflicts --;! If organizers do this to me again for FallCon's weekend, I'll scream!

6:39 pm - Distractions --;!

HAPPY VERY VERY BELATED BIRTHDAY, JESSE!

I'm SO sorry for the VERY VERY late posting. I've been very distracted lately --;. I hope you got plenty of cake, ice cream, and presents all around! Any belated birthday wishes? If so, please post here!

I've been bouncing around everywhere lately with either catching up on Labor Day weekend posts, arguing on the autograph forum (Why am I making so many enemies lately o~O?!), paying bills, trying to exercise again because my cholesterol is way too high now so I'm worried and am taking medication, etc.. I haven't had a moment to rest until maybe today or tomorrow more likely. I need a vacation from my vacation.

I'm SO glad I'm not in the middle of that mess that's in Saint Paul at the moment. There have been arrests EVERY DAY here for the last week including a few violent incidents. Some radical group is lurking around here to cause trouble o~O! I bet Denver never had this problem last week ;b! I did try looking to see about The Daily Show tickets, but they were long taken before I looked. Supposedly, they were free, but the Star Tribune stated somewhere that the theater was charging $1000.00 each for them with the proceeds going to charity o-O. I don't know if the theater just reserved them all and started charging for them or if that's just a rumor or something. I find it interesting and ironic that, according to the Star Tribune, Daily Show reporters can surprise/pounce on delegates, interviewees, reporters, etc. freely, BUT other reporters or anyone else are NOT allowed to do the same to them! It sounds very hypocritical to me >=/! If you want to make fun of people, fine, but you should allow others to do the same to you!

Since I know there are a lot of Don LaFontaine fans on my friends list, I thought I should post LaFontaine's last e-mail he sent out to his news e-mail list on Aug 11th for all to see.

Don LaFontaine's last news e-mail to his fans on Aug 11, 2008. )

1:14 pm - He's gone ;(?!
Voice over movie announcer and actor Don LaFontaine passes away on Monday. I can't believe he's gone ;(! I was on his general news e-mail list because I had wrote to him for an autograph awhile back, and he did mention he was recovering from 3 major surgeries to his lungs, heart, and stomach (tumors, growths, temporary diabetes due to steroid treatment, radiation pnuemonitis, etc.). It sounded like he would be okay back on Aug 11th when the e-mail was sent out, but I guess he succumbed to one of those things --;.

I had written to LaFontaine shortly after I saw his Geico commercial started airing via his website, and he sent me a nice personalized autographed picture in the mail:

Don LaFontaine

I'll miss him and his voice ;_;!
