Large list of H/D recs
The Big List of H/D Recs!!!

Okay, people! I sure have not read all the H/D fics in the world, nor am I likely to anytime soon. But this is a compilation of a lot H/D fics which I have rec'ced in previous entries, put all together for your convenience. Skip if you're not an H/D shipper! There are 49 stories listed here, and I look forward to finding even more to add in the future. There are no WIP's listed here, because I am (occasionally) merciful. :)

These are listed in alphabetical order, because I'm also anal-retentive. :)

Amanuensis/[info]amanuensis1:

Rituals and Traditions. NC-17. This is a wonderful little story, which the author herself calls a “goofy plot device”, but it’s one of my favourite stories around. Draco is shackled to a pillar, waiting for Voldemort to come and inhabit his body, when his be-socked rescuer appears. Everything you could want in a H/D fic – snark, smut (sex-magick smut, too!), a touch of non-con, and – marriage?! Like all of this author’s work, this fic is riddled with lithely-worded phrases, humour, and perfectly-done quirk. Read it here.

Waking in Light. NC-17. About as fluffy as this author ever gets, and I love it! Harry is unconscious for whatever reason, following Voldemort’s defeat. Draco finds a way to persuade him awake again. Read it here.

Fait Accompli. NC-17. Sequel to Droit du Seigneur, which must be read first, and which is not listed here because it is primarily H/L. Some residual hints of past H/L in here, but really wonderful portray of the H/D pairing. Read it here.

The Worst Happiest Day of His Life. NC-17. Hysterically funny and altogether wonderful. I love weddings! Drinks all around! Read it here.

[info]angelgazing:

And We Are At Our Apogee. M. A really beautiful story about post-war Harry/Draco, set on a beach, with Harry's memory damaged. Really lovely.
Read it here.

Anise/[info]anise_anise:

Open Surrender. NC-17. Draco surprises Harry in the night. Deliciously smutty! Read it here.

Pretty in Pink. NC-17. Cross-dressing, done in an absolute breathtaking way! Read it here.

Snow Angels. R. Nothing but sweet! Snow romp-age, kissing, gingerbread, and everything nice. Read it here.

Anj/[info]anjenue:

Subtle Nuances. NC-17. Harry never notices Draco until Draco is forced to masquerade as a woman for a night. Very, very nice! Read it here.

Green Eyes. NC-17. Breathtakingly wonderful! Jealous!Harry takes what's his. Read it here.

Breakfast in Bed. NC-17. The title says it all. Wonderfully insecure!Draco! Read it here.

BaronNomaw:

Seeker to Seeker. NC-17. Kind of a strange concept, but worth the while. Harry and Draco find a new way of training for Quidditch. Starts off with sex/humiliation, develops into friendship, then love. Draco is wonderfully snarky throughout. Once you’ve read it, you’ll be clawing at the screen for the sequel. However, avoid: it is unfinished and will, by all signs, remain unfinished. But Seeker to Seeker is wonderful. Read it here.

Calico/[info]ukcalico and Julad:

Lustre. R. Really beautiful story with a very dreamy quality to it in places. Draco has to learn what happiness really means and what it means for those he loves. Read it here.

[info]chiromancy:

Right Through Him. R. Very nice! Featuring one of my favourites, alley!sex! :) It's a good time. Read it here.

cmere/[info]cmere:

The Best Way to Wake Up. NC-17. Draco's favourite way to wake up involves Parseltongue!!! Read it here.

Duinn Fionn/[info]geoviki:

A Thousand Beautiful Things. R. One of my all-time favourite stories ever, on paper or otherwise. JKR should be considered fanfic to this author. It’s intensely compelling writing; you won’t be able to stop once you’ve started, and if you do, you’ll just spend all your free time thinking about it anyway. Wonderful themes of betrayal, forgiveness, sacrifice – the great H/D epic of our time, thus far. Well-written throughout, with all the themes weaving together nicely. Worth your time, I promise. Read it here.

Delicate Sound of Thunder. R. Sequel to A Thousand Beautiful Things, and wonderful in slightly different ways. Fast paced, thriller feel. Reserve several hours for this one, you won't be able to tear yourself away! Read it here.

Telling Hogwarts. M. A nice little fic about Harry’s plan to make shagging a little less splintery. Read it here.

The Waters of March. M. A beautiful story. Draco loses his mind somehow during the war, and Harry, torn by survivor's guilt, visits him in St. Mungo’s. Beautiful imagery as always, and lovely character portrayals. Read it here.

Emma Grant/[info]emmagrant01:

Left My Heart. NC-17. Be prepared to abandon any plans you had for the day before embarking on this one! Sex in written form. Absolutely gorgeous, plus it pulls at your heartstrings in ways you didn't know they could be pulled. Read it here.

[info]fearlessdiva:

Tissues of Silver. NC-17. Amazing story, beautifully detailed and filled with the kind of poignancy that just makes your heart ache. If you haven't read it yet, go and do so at once, here.

Famous for their Discord. NC-17. Missing scenes from ToS. Very nice! Read it here.

Seeing the Light. PG-13. A sequel to ToS. To come out or not to come out, that is the question. Read it here.

[info]furiosity:

A Gryffindor and a Slytherin. M. Draco POV, set during sixth year. Lots of angsty hate, and a very canon Draco who can't understand what everyone else sees in Harry. Read it here.

[info]jennavere:

Freudian Slip. M. Hilarious! Fluffy, nicely-executed, very tongue-in-cheek. Read it here.

[info]legomymalfoy:

Snow. NC-17. Harry's waiting for it to snow; Draco's waiting for something else. Very sweet! Read it here.

Mark of a Man. NC-17. Draco needs Harry's help to get rid of the Dark Mark, but the spell turns out to be more complicated (and kinky!) than he was anticipating. Hot. Read it here.

Marks/[info]marksykins:

Skirting the Issue. NC-17. A game of Truth or Dare, gone a little sideways. Features crossdressing!Draco! Written for the genderfuck challenge and very hot! Read it here.

The Inner Workings of Coincidence. NC-17. Post-war, and coincidence keeps having Harry run into Draco until it sticks. Read it here.

November Snowflake/[info]novembersnow:

Harry Potter and the Magic of Mistletoe. PG. Very sweet, Christmasy fic! Lots and lots of boy kissing! Read it here.

Ociwen/[info]hydaspes:

A Lesson in Negativity. NC-17. Very, very nice! Draco in denial, done perfectly. Read it here.

Pir8fancier/[info]pir8fancier:

Lettered. R. Seriously one of my favourite stories ever. Draco starts off innocently writing anonymous letters to Harry… and that’s all I’m going to say. Read it here.

Definition. R. Terribly sweet, in the best way possible. There’s a magical spelling bee, and guess who Harry’s partner is? Read it here.

reena/[info]lunacy:

Minute Man. NC-17. This was one of my first discoveries in the world of short, good fics. Love it dearly. Read it here.

Come Morning. NC-17. A sadder, darker ones. Astronomy Tower, and a lot of issues. Read it here.

The Sound of Wings. NC-17. On the existential angst of blow-jobs. Read it here.

Chances Are. NC-17. They’re stuck in a tent, with a lot of snark to go round. Do I have to say more? Read it here.

An Unlikely Pair (Or: Like a Car-Wreck). R. An angsty, hate!sex fic. Glorious. Read it here.

Resonant/[info]resonant8:

Transfigurations. NC-17. Post-war, post-Hogwarts. Wonderful. Hogwarts has been re-opened and Harry's come back to teach, alongside Hermione and Draco, yet the drama is far from over. Read it here.

[info]rurounihime:

Aftermath. R. Post-war, Draco needs healing, and Harry's there with him. Very nice. Read it here.

Nine Days Till Christmas. R. There are, yes, nine days until Christmas. Very, very nice - the build-up is very intense! Read it here.

Meaningful Conversation. R. They talk best in bed. A good time. Read it here.

[info]scoradh/Alvira:

Snakes and Ladders. M. Very sweet story! Draco's a teacher at Hogwarts & Harry's son gets Sorted into Slytherin. Read it here.

Open Season. M. Everyone knows, except Harry. Hilarious! Read it here.

[info]setissima:

All His Saints. NC-17. Very hot! Featuring apathetic!Harry and bossy!Draco. Beautiful relational development. Read it here.

stylophile:

Tempus Fugit. R. This is one of the first really good H/D fics I’d ever read, the first one which really wormed its way into my hear It’s beautiful. Takes a somewhat standard sort of plot device – potions accident which messes with time – and makes it into an extremely good story, well worth the read. Harry and Draco are sent eight years ahead in time, and find themselves lovers with baggage. Wonderfully complex. Go read it here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1774120/1/

Tarowen:

Mismeasured Ingredients. R. Very canon!Draco! He's got an elaborate plot, and he very nearly pulls it off. Read it here.

[info]xylodemon

I Don't Love You. NC-17. More angsty, quasi-hate. Sad, but so nice. Read it here.

zionsstarfish:

The Way of the World. M. Post-war; Draco's broke and working as a delivery boy. One night, he has to make a delivery to one Harry Potter. Read it here.

Whew! That was a lot of rec'cing! Happy reading, folks!

I adore fearlessdiva's Silververse stories! Adore them, I tell you. When anyone ever asks me for H/D recs, I practically ram FD's stuff down their throats ;)

I'm glad someone finally put a list of the best H/D stuff together.

SilentAuror[info]silentauror on May 19th, 2005 07:53 am (UTC)
Oh, I don't know if it's even the best, or whatever. It's just what I read and liked. :) I'm all about spreading the love! :)

If it were a "best" list, then I would've wanted to put my own stuff on it, too!

*cough*

Ignore that. ;)

OK, were you doing your Divination or what? Just the other day, I was wondering if anyone would be posting a really good H/D fic rec list any time soon, and tada, here we are! And of course your fics should be on this list too, but well, you know I go to your SH page all the time anyway, so... no need, really. ;)

I'll be saving this to my memories and reading these over time. Thanks so much.

*hugs*

Hi ^^ I just wanted to tell you i'm reading a fic of yours that I casually found on TheSilverSnitch.. "Cold Comfort". I still have to finish it, but I can say it'll became one of my fav fics *__*; it's perfect...Lucius seducing Harry that way..and the cane...you're soo a genius |D°°° and L/H is my fav pairing, too...*drools* all the scenes were perfectly written..it's been a long time since the last time I was so excited about a fic!
It was so great I decided I HAVE to read some other works you wrote, even if I don't particularly like Draco in fics >< (why waste time with the son when you can have Lucius? *_*)
Ah, last thing: since I'm italian..what does "OTP" stand for? O_o beautiful icons ^_^ ..I read we have 2 fav-movies in common too ^_~
Kisses :**

Mirabella's The Shadow of His Wings is not only the best H/D fic I've ever read, it's the best fic, period. Harry and Draco are written spot-on, and the fic also features the best Percy Weasley ever written, as well as amazing chess metaphors and the most, well, magical descriptions of magic I've ever come across. (There's a duel scene which beats all other duel scenes, including JKR's, down flat without even trying - because, again, Mira can write magic like no other.) She's also an excellent world-builder, writing in backstory beautifully, without any fuss and without being tedious. In short, her writing leaves me in total awe.

It's a really fantastic fic (and I know you've no idea who I am, sorry), and any H/D shipper should read it. =) Hope you enjoy.

Oh, my! This is terrific - and quite a few I haven't read too!! Now I won't get anything done for at least a week! ;D

Can I rec some of my favourites for you?? Just ignore me if you want to, or if you've seen them before...

Have you read anything by Beren? Everything by her is wonderful, but I can highly recommend 'Gold Tinted Spectacles' and 'Angels and Devils. Oh, and the 'Corruption' sequence - Corruption, Distortion & Alteration. Also, 'Black Magic by Moonlight' - it's a crossover with the Anita Blake universe, and just as excellent as the first three! (All H/D, btw!) Her work can be found at: http://archive.skyehawke.com/authors.php?no=707

Dayspring's 'Saving Draco Malfoy' is also one of the best H/D's I've read in a while. http://dayspring.skeeter63.org/sdm.htm

Angyl & Rina are a truly wonderful pair of authors; they haven't done much in the Potterverse, but 'Prophecies & Potions' is truly fabulous. http://www.angelfire.com/de3/infinitum/Angelrina.html

And finally, one of my absolute favourites: LightningWave's 'Sacrifices' arc. Five stories so far, all novel-length. (The fifth is still a WIP, but she updates daily!) http://archive.skyehawke.com/authors.php?no=1324
