Ok, guess what? I started watching Buffy, S4-S6. And? I think I'm in love with Spike. And Buffy. So hot. And pretty. And emotional. I made icons.

Also? I bring you a tutorial for this icon:
1.This is the original picture:
I sharpen it and set the blend mode to screen. I create a new image (100x100) below the original one and fill it with #F6EAE5. Then I add a few brushes set to multiply or screen to make the bacground more interesting.
2. Then I create a new layer above and fill it with this gradient (my fav, btw):
and set the blend mode to hard light. If the image is barely visible, you can always reduce the opacity of the gradient.
3. I create another layer above all earlier ones and draw the fram-y thing around the Sawyer pic (omg so pensive and hottt! lol) using the Polygonal Lasso Tool and fill it with white color. It looks like this:
4. I flatten all layers. The icon looks like this:
5. I play around with duplicating layers and setting it to "color burn" or "linear burn" modes. I duplicated this icon two times with color burn and once with linear burn. This is how it looks:
Easy, isn't it? Hope I helped!
The L/L and Love Actually icons were made in a very similar way, I just changed the gradients to blue/red or orange/yellow or pink/green - these are ones I use the most.
