OH MY GOSH I THINK I FINISHED MY WEBSITE

Although there are two or three items that are "coming soon". I'll get on those as soon as I can. Let me know if anyone sees any glitches. Ive looked at it too long to see anything!
Thank you again to Aaron and Jenn for letting me photograph you gorgeous people in my jewelry. And thank you to my fans that sent in photos and let me use them on my site.

As of now I am exhausted. I have been making that website while completing all my wholesale orders and while preparing my jewelry and art for FaerieWorlds next week. Which, I am still planning for.

Who else is going to FaerieWorlds?
Im thinking of doing an you-know-me-from-lj promo thing.

no grandpas guitars! [Jun. 5th, 2008|11:31 am]
[Current Music |DETHKLOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]

I am so excited for tomorrow...DETHKLOK

, which is a fictional death metal band from the cartoon Metalocalypse on Adult Swim. Hilarious. And amazing. They are having a concert (?) and Im going tomorrow!

They inspired me for a beverage package and design project that I did earlier this semester for my graphic design class. I made BLACK tea called BRÜTALITEA that was imported from Scandinavia. It was way metal. Haha. I'll post pictures of it later.

It inspired Vikki to suggest we make "Space Odin" shirts to wear for the show. Odin is the Viking god of war, and space is...well space and for some reason people into metal are really into space...and anything Scandinavian. During the show (the BLOOD OCEAN episode), there was a Space Odin character(that Swisgaar plays) and it is mentioned they must "pray to Space Odin". So, in my beverage project I decided to make a logo for Space Odin as the importer logo.

So I actually threw a "party" on Saturday to make Space Odin shirts(they glow in the dark too), eat metal/metalocalypse themed food and watch all 20 episodes. So much fun. I forgot to take a single picture. For those that know the show: I had a bowl of "Toki Candy" that mimicked to the best of my ability his endorsed bowl of candy, Pop Rocks and Coke(just for Nubbler), and I couldnt find a troll for everyone to eat, so I made pizza. And cupcakes with bloody eyeballs on them. And "black and blue" salad (black berries and blueberries). I put spiders everywhere and filtered threw halloween decor that didnt have pumpkins or ghosts in it- so just skeletons and spiders..put candles in various places oh yeah and the tables had black cloth with glow-in the-dark stars and I put a viking hat on the table (space....odin?). Yeah. fun. Aaron[info]hat0nh3ad, Vikki[info]my_toe_itches, Chris[info]agentoneal, Ryan[info]eulogycallinme, and Ryan's girlfriend Lindsay came, and I hope they liked it?

I cant wait for tomorrow.

Concerts! [Dec. 30th, 2007|12:16 am]

On October 30th I got to see Regina Spektor at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. Im sorta speechless still about that. Everything was perfect that night. I cant for the life of me remember the set list, but she played a lot of songs, and everything I wanted to hear(well, except for "Just like the Movies", but I doubt she ever plays that one anymore). I got to hear "The Flowers", "Après Moi", "Us", and "Music Box" which are some of my favorites. And "Samson" practically made me cry. She didn't have her band with her, so it was just her and the piano- my favorite kind of show! She did do the "Hotel Song" with her opening act- in which be beat-boxed and that was amazing.
She was just adorable. If you dont know who she is, I suggest you YouTube her, and if youre into pretty piano singers with some quarks, you just might like her. (many people know the song "Fidelity")

Here are some mp3's for you to try out:
The Flowers | Us | Music Box | Samson

Then, in November, I got to see Silverchair. Twice. The first show was at the House of Blues in Anaheim, and it was the postponed show from July. It was great to finally see the band that I was obsessed with since I was in middle school (1995..96?). I loved that I got to hear two songs from Neon Ballroom. Again, I cant remember the set list, but I do know they played most of their songs from the new album, Young Modern('cept for "Those Thieving Birds"!!), and a few from Diorama, and Freakshow, and surprisingly, "Israel's Son" from Frogstomp. I nearly cried when they played "Emotion Sickness". That whole album just gets me. (especially the "burn my knees" part sung live- ah!)
"Reflections of a Sound" made me really happy because I had been obsessing over their amazing video with all kinds of surrealism/dada/modern art influences in it. So yeah, then on the car ride home Vikki([info]my_toe_itches), Chris([info]agentoneal) and I decide we must go see their other Los Angeles show that was the following week. So that night we got the tickets. Best decision ever. Now, the House of Blues is pretty small and any spot you stand at you can clearly see the stage well... but at the Wiltern show the following week, we got there early enough and got to be 3rd row from the front. And not to mention the sound quality of the theatre and energy level of the band was just spot on. Oh, and I got to hear "Those Thieving Birds"(prt 1&2/Strange Behaviour). Worth it. And then Chris got one of Ben's drum heads. Grr. Not fair! Awesome show. Please take me to Australia you boys.

And here are a few songs to hear:
Emotion Sickness | Reflections of a Sound | Ana's Song | Across the Night

Haha, heres what they used to look like when my obsession first started.

2007 was such a concert year for me! And I didn't even get to go to all the ones I had planed on.

no lj-cut for art! [Nov. 8th, 2007|10:33 am]
Heres some pictures of what I've done in class:
5 X 1 foot landscape painting

Self portrait vector illustration

Trifold project. Too crazy to explain the concept.

Im working on new projects too: Illustrating the song "Street Spirit" by Radiohead, Making a large surrealist painting(I just finished building the canvas), and making a font and a poster & cd insert for it.
Heres a photo of what I currently have of the font poster. Not done yet. 18X24.

I have a group project with my Zoo class and we need to fully design and plan an exhibit and propose it to the Zoo. Im working on some logos for it (our animal is the Wallaby). Lets pretend I spelled "Barbara" correctly. Design inspired off the Santa Barbra Zoo's exsiting logo, to complement the style.

Not for school, but here are some other self portrait photos I've done:

No, its not obvious how I feel about myself!! :D

I have more projects for each class to make before the end of the semester...which is in a few weeks!

Well, for two parties I was Leela. On Halloween I had school and I didn't want to be in costume. But still. I sorta dressed up in something else on my birthday/halloween too. Oh mygod I'm 24 years old now.

So here are some photos of Halloween/My Birthday and Vikki's Birthday party.

I should be writing a paper.
But I'll do my updates now, otherwise I probably wont for another month!

So I left off at the Pirate Faire, which was the end of September.
It was fun! Rainy the first weekend, and then ok the next. I brought my mushroom stools. I got offers and lots of questions about them...but they are mine!
David has all the pictures on his post, but heres one:

And you can see the rest on his post here
So much has happened, that I don't have too many other detailed memories of that weekend.

I had an exhibit from school featuring my surrealism photos from last semester!! It was awesome. The exhibit was a 3 person thing, which is not common, usually its for the whole art department. The theme was: "The Weird Worlds of". I was on the school website, and the county's newspaper and everything!
I have a few photos )

My vector self portrait for my Digital Illustration class. We were supposed to create a vector portrait of ourselves with things we like. I think I covered it? That was really really hard. Im getting a little more used to the pen tool now. First time attempting Illustrator. Still looks like cut out construction paper to me!! :) But it was still fun, and I think Im proud.

For my next project I've decided to do a recreation of a piece by Sylvia Ji as a photo and mixed media. Should be fun.

I think Vikki convinced me to portray green with violence for my Graphic Design project. Still not sure how Im going to do it....but I'm sure it will work out somehow!

My Digital Illustration class... for Project 2, we have to recreate a piece of art that inspires us. Im having a hard time at the moment finding some neat images that I could recreate. (we are supposed to bring in a bunch to class to show possible ideas)
I want to keep the theme of self portrait. We can recreate photos (especially those that have been digitally altered), or Im pretty sure I can take a traditional art piece and by using photos, mixed media and photoshop I can recreate it that way. Does that make sense?
Well Im kind stuck.
So let me see images that inspire you guys and maybe it can help me with ideas?
Or what would you like to see me recreate with myself in?

So what have I been up to?
Its the end of the 3rd week of classes and already I want to pull my hair out :|
However its fun!
-I have just finished building my first canvas! Its 5 feet high by one foot across, and its soon going to have my paint on it.
-Ive done several little projects in Graphic Design: re did the colors of the Burger King logo, did my first ever vector(Ive never used illustrator before...arghh its frustrating!!) art of a mushroom and created different color pallets based on a set of emotions/themes. Ah, but now its time for the official Project 1. Im dreading it right now since too much is going on and my mind isnt clear to come up with a good idea: We have to take a color and deify people's expectations of it. Hm. Green. Of course. But what? Meh!
-Digital Illustration has proven itself to be quite interesting. I struggled for 3 weeks to get Adobe Illustrator on my computer so I can work from my room. Finally I did, CS3, however my computer is NOT happy as its crashed several times and just runs s l o w and freezes up numerous times while I have the program open. Not to mention it take approx 10 min (not joking) to just LOAD Illustrator. Maybe there is something wrong with this program rather than my computer...
Anyway, the class. I have never worked with illustrator or the pen too or vector stuff before. Wow what a challenge to learn it and be expected to know what youre doing. Im not in beginner program learning classes, so this is tough. We have to do a self portrait with things we like. I'll post my art as Im done of course, but wow its terrible looking right now. I dont know WHAT I am doing, and it looks like I took construction paper and badly cut out layers of what makes up my face. Haha. However my teacher....likes it? Says its "organic" looking. Ok, sure! :) EEk, but I have less than a WEEK before its due and Im about 10% done. Woops. And hes already talking about Project 2. Crap.
-The Zoo class!! Its all about learning about how Zoos are run and all the things that make it up. Contrary to belief, the course does not evolve about us learning about animals or how to BE a zoo keeper. Its as a said all the behind the scene stuff: the business, economics, biology, and education aspects. I go to my third class tomorrow morning. The class takes place at the Santa Barbra Zoo, which is about 45 min from here. I got to see the River OTTERS cuddling again. Aaaaahh they are to die for.

So yeah that is what Ive been up to...school-wise.
Take the rest of my life and mix with above= aaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!

Im going to be at the Ojai Pirate faire the last two weekends in September!! Be there!!!! See if I cracked yet!!! :D

LOVE LOVE LOVE:

This is the version I saw live. The original of course is nice...but I prefer the full piano one MUCH better. Haunting.♥ Love it.
(I hate myself for stopping the piano playing in 8th/9th grade..I wish I could learn again!!!!)

Only a few days left of my summer break...ah! What break?
I'll never be done cleaning and packing before I move and start school again.

Just for fun....here's my before/after of this image:

(click)

I want to do more photomanipulations! I think Im gonna post all the ones that I did for class that didnt make it for the project. With pretty much all of my images I had at least 3 fully completed images with different poses to choose one from, and then from those I had 20-50 shots to in each photoshoot. And I made a whole surrealism book...of 17 photos!
Yeah..it was a lot of work. (I enjoyed it! It was something new.)
And maybe I'll post more before/after images too.

(once again, I owe Liselotte credit big time for the mermaid shots)
