HOLY SWEET FUCKING JESUS
Bell Mobility has recently changed their billing system. I know this, because their statements which are 2-3 months late, tell me this. When I received the statement for August, on WEDNESDAY, it said I had an unpaid balance from JULY.
This is not possible for the very good reason that I have authorised them to withdraw the funds from my bank account, come collection time.
So I called Bell Mobility, to find out what the fuck is going on. When I call, I find that my account balance for some reason is a CREDIT of around 26 dollars. Having worked on a billing system in the past, I know that an unexplained credit means ONE THING, and ONLY ONE THING:
Bell Mobility FUCKED UP, and over billed me.
So I hit 0 to get an operator. After the wait, I ask for them to explain to me as to why there is a credit on my account.
"Sir, you do understand what a credit is?" the man asks me in a condescending manner
"Of course I understand what a goddamned credit is. I want to know WHY I have one to begin with."
He goes away, comes back, and tells me that in short, they over billed me. Fine. At least they're being honest.
That was Thursday. Cut to about 15 minutes ago, when I go into my back account to make sure I have money in my account (which is linked to my bank card) for the tattoo tomorrow. I notice there's more money than I expected -- the GST refund had arrived, and exactly like every other time, it arrived at the exact moment I had stopped needing any sort of money.
While reveling in this, I glanced up, and noticed two withdrawals from Bell Mobility, labelled as "Bill Payment." The trouble, was that they were 9 days apart -- on one the 20th, the other on the 29th, and combined, they were the amount I would pay for about 5 months of service.
I scanned farther up, and noticed the earlier mentioned "unpaid balance" was also deducted in September. Which means I was billed for SIX MONTHS in a single month. Before you think that I pay my bill semi-yearly, I do not. I pay MONTHLY.
So I call those goddamned fucking thrives. and demand to know why the fuck I am being billed all this money. This time, the woman tells me I have a credit of nearly $150 in my account, due to them DOUBLE BILLING ME FOR TWO MONTHS OF SERVICE (one of the months was $40 more expensive due to my trip to Minnesota -- JESUS). The billing on the 29th, was for August and September's bills. I am going to be billed again on the 8th, for October.
So obviously, I wanted that money back. $150 is worth more to me now (especially since I was operating under the impression I had it to begin with), then it is later as a fucking CREDIT for October, November, and December.
"Unacceptable." I said.
"Sorry?"
"This is unacceptable. I want that money refunded back to me. You had no right to double bill me due to fuckups in your goddamned billing system, and the only way to keep me from canceling my account, is for you to refund my money."
"We can send you a cheque, but it will take 4 to 6 weeks."
Their ploy is obvious: In 4 to 6 weeks, I will have been victim to two billing cycles. By the time I see the money, I would have paid them 2/3s of it back (and thus been about 5 months worth of service money short, for 2 months). They cannot deposit it into my account, even though they have all the required information.
REGARDLESS, While on hold, I came up with the idea to CANCEL the direct withdrawal, until get their fucking shit together. BUT THEN, considering I don't receive statements until 3 months AFTER THE FACT, I'm going to have to pay all sorts of late payments fees. So I left it alone. If this happens again during October, I will be canceling my service with Bell. When not working, I realised I have nearly no use for the fucking thing.
Christ.
