Japango [14 Jul 2007|06:54pm]
I (along with the rest of the world) used to focus on all the things wrong with Japan (or any other country other than America) but I realized, living here is not like some cracked up East Asian studies or anthropology or sociology class makes it out to be, it never is anywhere. You do not experience living xyz from a book, simply because such a large number of "people" cannot be described accurately. Besides, the only people that matter to you are the ones in your life anyway.

People, as generally as I can put it, in my biased opinion, suck. It doesn't matter what country you're in there will always be superficial people (it's human instinct), nationalistic people (again, instinct, the people like me rock more than those who are not notion), ignorant indifferent people (life is easier that way), which leads to people are easily duped. What I'm trying to say is, the freaks in Japan we scrutinize so much exist in America. But in America, that's the norm, so we don't bother scrutinizing.

People will always be frustrating, but it's more of putting the right people in your life. In the end, I don't see the difference between living in Japan or America (note, this thought is prone to inaccuracy since there are more countries than 2) but I have to say THE FOOD IN THIS COUNTRY IS SO GOOD.

The transportation is convenient.
Markets are convenient.
I don't need a car.
People recycle.
Wasting food is a sin.
Portions are reasonable.

This simple difference, will affect where I decide to reside?

weekend was fun

after party fun, free breakfast fun, seeing house for the first time fun, doing work all night and getting 2 hours of sleep alright, getting woken up by someone in uniform telling me I must leave because I cannot sleep in a common room followed by me asking her if I can stay if I stay awake followed by being left alone funny, wondering if someone called the pd on me amusing, drills fun, doing everything well but forgetting to take the knife away from the section 12 pt funny, petersen not interrogating me fun, bbq fun, ice cream fun, dance troupe performance amazing, kelly complementing me happy :)

things to do tomorrow:
- talk to the legendary AndyG ("so he does exist!")
- arranging third riding time with that cool medic
- TOOL lots, I am behind and I do not like it. I hate that adverse feeling to sleep I have in this state (although it saved my butt many a times during the semester)
