AI-<3 Jordin
Jordin Sparks was at the Six Flags near my house today! I live like 10 minutes from there! (and it's in Largo, not Bowie like the article says.) I wish I had known. I was just sitting here all day doing nothing, I definitely would've gone there and been in full STAN mode. Y'all know I love me some Jordin.

Anyways, I'm getting ready to see her tonight, along with Alicia! I'm so excited! Smooches!

Friday Five and Idol Thoughts

Jordin-Love Shirt
I know I rarely do these Friday Fives anymore, but this one is about TV so I can't resist.

What's your favourite TV network? Lifetime. No matter what time of day it is, if there's nothing else good on TV I can always count on Lifetime to be showing either a cheesy movie or a Golden Girls rerun.

If you could create your own channel, what would it be? It would show classic sitcoms like Full House, Perfect Strangers, The Cosby Show, Roseanne, Martin, Friends, Saved by the Bell, Golden Girls, old cartoons like Jem, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Duck Tales, other old kid shows like Ghostwriter, Fraggle Rock, and the Elephant Show. Oh, and all the good shows they used to show on Nickelodeon like Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, Double Dare, Clarissa Explains it All, Fifteen, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Guts, and Wild and Crazy Kids. And of course I'd order endless seasons of Veronica Mars to be shown in primetime.

What TV show did you watch as a child, that you wish they would bring back? Ghostwriter! (even though I think I was like 13-14 when that was on, so not really a child) But that was such a great show, well up until the end when it started to suck a bit.

What show have you always hated, and wonder why they ever made such a dumb show? Pretty much all the reality shows on the CW (except ANTM), like Farmer Wants a Wife, Beauty and the Geek, and Pussycat Dolls. It's a shame they cancel good quality shows but crap like that gets to stay on the air.

What TV show's seasons would you buy on DVD? I've bought all 3 seasons of VM, the third season of Golden Girls, both seasons of Chappelle's Show, and the first season of One Tree Hill. I'll probably get a couple of Saved by the Bell, Martin, Salute Your Shorts, Golden Girls, and maybe the first season of Gossip Girl.

American Idol thoughts...this season isn't really interesting to me. It's not that I don't still enjoy watching it, I just don't really care who wins anymore. I like David C. ALOT better than David A. (in fact, I really wanted Syesha to make it to the finals instead of David A.) but I don't really care which one of them wins. Speaking of David A, I was indifferent to him before but now I kind of hate him just for the fact that he sang that Chris Brown song. I LOVE that song and now he's kind of ruined it for me. I'll watch the performance show, and I'll try to make myself watch the finale. I hope Jordin performs so I'll at least have a reason to watch.

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to.

1. Love Story-Mariah Carey
2. With You-Chris Brown
3. I Stay in Love-Mariah Carey For the Record-Mariah Carey
4. Beautiful Nightmare-Beyonce
5. Next To You-Jordin Sparks
6. Lollipop-Li'l Wayne
7. The Way That I Love You-Ashanti

Baby I swear it's deja vu...

So apparently my most favorite celebrity couple got married yesterday. I still need to see pics or hear an official confirmation before I really believe it, but I'm just going to pretend it's true for now. I'm so happy for them (and not jealous at all!*). Seriously, you'd think I was the one who'd gotten married.

More pics of the lovely couple )

I love them! I wish them a lifetime of happiness and a couple of cute babies!

*P.S. Okay, maybe I am just a tiny bit jealous. I want to get married! I never thought she'd get married before me. I need to find me a Jay-Z!

Voting!

B-If She Were a Boy
I think David Cook is my new favorite on American Idol. I'm not usually into the rocker types, but there's something about him these past two weeks that I've really liked. Please don't get voted off on Thursday, bb!

And I'm still mad about Alexandrea getting voted off last week. She was the closest thing I had to a favorite back then. (I guess I can't complain, though, since I didn't call to vote for her, and I didn't call to vote for David tonight.)

These primary election results are making me sad. I'm going to bed. Goodnight.

Thank you to the anonymous person who gifted me with the extra user pics! What a sweet thing to do.

My laptop is almost officially dead. The problem is it's been overheating because of the fans and then that caused the motherboard and power supply to get all messed up. So now the power supply doesn't work and the battery will no longer hold a charge. Every so often I can turn it on and it'll work for like 10 minutes, but then it shuts itself down. Apparently this is a problem that all the old Dell laptops have, because there was even a lawsuit about it. All Dell will do is send someone out to replace the motherboard (for a fee, since I'm no longer under warranty.) Since that computer was old, I decided to get a whole new one. It's the Dell Inspiron 1520. I was assured that the new Inspirons don't have the same problem as the old ones did, so I should be good there. Plus I do like Dell and there service, so that's why I decided to get another one from them. I didn't get any of the pretty colors, though, since they didn't have anymore pink, yellow, or red ones (the only colors I would've gotten). I got the plain black one. And I was able to get it with Windows XP instead of Vista (thanks for your advice with that, [info]thegirliscrazy.)

It won't be here until January 16, so I'll only be able to use my mother's computer (like I'm doing now) every now and again. Now I'm hoping that my old computer will stay on long enough for me to transfer my iTunes library onto my iPod so I can transfer it to my new computer (with play counts and ratings and everything.) I started doing some of the transferring last night and it was taking forever (all those Veronica Mars episodes!) and then it shut off :( I also need to transfer over all the icons and pictures I saved on the old one. Now I can actually use all those icons I saved, but I have no way to get to them!

I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!

It's a Matter of Extreme Importance...

Alicia Keys’ new CD=LOVE. Especially Teenage Love Affair and I Need You.

I got Jordin Sparks’ CD, too, which is okay. It’s actually better than I thought it would be.

I think I’m going to have to get a new laptop soon. I’ve had this one for about four years now (I think) and now it keeps spontaneously shutting down whenever it gets too overheated. Which is like once an hour. Plus it’s so incredibly slow. I’ll probably get another Dell, since I have an account with them. I hate the thought of how long it will take to transfer all my files and music :(

I’m trying to decide if I should sign up for [info]vm_santa this year.

I really want to go shopping this Friday, although there's really nothing that I need to get.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

At the end you need to choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks.

10 Things )

And here’s another one I’ve already done, but since my userpics change on the regular, it’s okay. I got this one from [info]stickykeys633.

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, what significance does it have.

B-If She Were a Boy
I got my first ever warning on TWoP today. I've been posting on the boards since December '05 and I've never gotten a warning. And of course it would come in the VM media thread in a post about Rob Thomas. Someone posted this:

"Oh no. Why does this make me so nervous? Just that every time RT gives an interview (especially in person like this will be), he always seems to say something to unwittingly set off a firestorm among fans. It's so exhausting. I'd rather he just not give interviews."

And I responded with this:

"Well, some of us do want to hear what he has to say. There are some that, no matter what he says, will find something wrong with it and will complain (starting off that firestorm). Maybe they should just not read the interviews."

Miss Alli tells me to "lose the attitude." What is she even doing on the VM boards? I guess someone reported me. Couch Baron wouldn't have warned me. I just need to stay off of TWoP, specifically the VM boards. No good will come from that place.

American Idol spoilers... )

See, another reason for me not to go to TWoP. It just kills my buzz. NO GOOD.

Jordin Sparks is my American Idol!!!!

I just adore her. I've always liked her and every week I love her more and more. I said I wouldn't call and vote anymore after the Nikko and Jessica curse of Idol S4, but I went ahead and called to vote for her tonight. I don't even care if she wins this thing (although that would be nice), I just want her to get a record deal.

I also liked Melinda tonight, of course, and surprisingly enough, Phil was really good, too. But it's all about Jordin for me right now. :)

Just when I get my computer fixed, now our modem is broken. It's going to take a few days for a new one to come so I won't be online or able to keep up with the flist until then. On Thursday and Friday the students don't have to go to school but us teachers do and I'll probably spend the whole time online instead of doing the million of other things I need to do in my classroom like cleaning it up and report cards. The library computer is going to kick me off in a couple of minutes so I'll catch y'all on the flip side. Smooches!

Whitney. I can't find a more recent picture of her, but I love her makeover weave. If I were to ever get another weave again I'd want it to look like hers. I hope she makes final 3. That's all.

I got my luggage back, yay!

B-If She Were a Boy
This has been the most boring weekend. The only thing I did of note was go to the gym on Saturday and work out for an hour and a half. On Sunday I went to Target and got an iWake clock radio for my iPod and season 1 of Martin on DVD. Oh, and I also got a Cinnabon which totally negated the hour and half at the gym.

I hate that American Idol and America's Next Top Model are coming on at the same time. I missed ANTM this week, but they showed a repeat tonight, and it looks like they will next Sunday also. I hate that I'll have to wait all the way until Sunday to see the full episode and find out who gets eliminated. And if someone spoils me beforehand, I might just kill them. And I don't mean that as euphemism.

What I hate even more is the stupid CW is taking VM off for 8 weeks for the stupid Pussycrap Dolls. *Hugs season 1 and 2 VM DVDs tightly*

Music Meme
Leave a comment and I'll assign you a letter. You are to list your ten favorite songs that begin with that letter in your journal.
[info]jwood614 gave me the letter R.

1. Ring the Alarm-Beyonce
2. Rock Your Body-Justin Timberlake
3. Rock With You-Alicia Keys
4. Run It-Chris Brown
5. Right Here-SWV
6. Round and Round-Tevin Campbell
7. Rain on Me-Ashanti
8. Right Thurr-Chingy
9. Resentment-Beyonce
10. Red Light Special-TLC

I'm going to catch up with flisting this week. My computer is getting so slow I can barely do anything on here anymore. Have a good week everyone.

I'm so happy that I'm actually excited for this year's Idol. Here are my favorites of the Top 24.

In no particular order... )
I'm probably not going to actually vote for any of them, though, because whenever I do, the people I vote for always end up voted off far before they should. (see: Nikko Smith. Also see: Jessica Sierra.)

One of my former student's parents came up to school the other day and we talked for a few minutes in the hallway. The very first thing she asked me was if I was pregnant. I really hate people sometimes.

In happier news, I went to the movies today with some coworkers. We saw Stomp the Yard which I thought would be some terrible rip off of You Got Served (and really, who wants to rip off You Got Served?) but it was really quite good. I mean, the acting was mediocre and the storyline was predictable (a cross between You Got Served and Drumline. By the way, I LOVED Drumline) but it was still entertaining. Thanks to this movie I now have two new celebrity crushes, Columbus Short and Brian J. White. I'm going to need for them to be shirtless in more movies more often. Even Ne-Yo was somewhat tolerable in this movie.

Speaking of movies, [info]squishysquidgy tagged me for this meme ages ago, so now seems like a good time to do it:

Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to list 10 movies: your 5 Favourites & your 5 Guilty Pleasures. Then, pick 5 of your friends and tag them. No tag backs. This explanation should be included.
Hey did you know that we're off to see the world... )

And [info]soulandscript tagged me for this 10 random facts meme.

I hope everyone's having a great weekend.

Happy New Year!

B-If She Were a Boy
I hope everyone had a lovely new year's! I had to go back to work today, which sucked, especially since a lot of other school districts don't have to go back until next week. One good thing about coming back from long breaks is that the kids are all subdued and quiet and well-behaved. And they act so happy to see me and tell me all about their Christmas gifts like I'm their most favorite person in the world. And one of my kids when he first saw me said "Ms.(My last name), you look like one of them Dreamgirls."

I was going to do resolutions this year, but then I realized that it would be pointless because I already know I'm not going to keep them. So I'm going to just try to work out more and drink more water. Oh, and I also want to read 50 books this year, which should be doable, even though I only read 40-something last year. I'll try to keep track here in an LJ post.
