So last night was the premiere of Bones, the first of my shows to start this fall. Thoughts behind the cut due to spoilers. I did like the episode, it was full of both zany fun and gut wrenching emotional stuff.
( The good, the bad and the OMG, What!?! )

I was reading through a Washington Post article, "Female Characters, Made To Suffer for Our 'Art'" and I was wondering, are female victims more popular because of some short of misogyny/hate/prejudice against women or because crimes against women are perceived as so much more horrible than crimes against men? The large majority of victims on television these days are women or children. Is this because those crimes are seen as more horrific or as a dislike for/prejudice against women and children? Maybe it is a form of misogyny simply because it plays into the "save the women and children, they can't do it themselves" thing. Men aren't portrayed as the victims because men (the audience the advertisers want to attract) so intensely dislike seeing themselves portrayed as weak (able to be victimized) but it's perfectly acceptable for women and children to be weak.
Instead of playing into society's problems and misconceptions, entertainment should strive to break them. To make it clear that there is no shame or blame in being a victim and that victims come in all shapes, sizes, genders, ages, and sexual orientations. It's not okay for anyone to be a victim of any crime but there's no shame in being the victim of a crime.

Apparently there's now a search engine just for finding t-shirts: PleaseDress.me. Kinda fun.
I picked up my Supernatural season 3 DVDs yesterday at lunch from Best Buy and it came with the mini die-cast Metallicar :) Pictures after the cut.
On the Special Features:
- I liked the Impala featurette. Kinda light on content but it was cool seeing just how many of the cars they have and that there's a take apart car for certain shots inside the Impala. The car guys obviously love their job, which is also cool. I love getting to "meet" crew folks through the DVDs.
- How sweet is it that Supernatural has their own visual effects crew? No contracting out, just folks that work entirely on Supernatural. Good stuff about them.
- Supernatural continues to have the best Gag Reels ever. I think at this point though they're doing stuff for it specifically which may let the guys get away with a whole lot :) Goof balls, both of them.
- Haven't watched any of the "Closer Look" stuff yet.
- Wish there was more behind the scenes stuff with the boys but all the stuff with the amazing writers kinda makes up for that.
( Pictures! )
Is it September 18th yet? No? Bummer. But on the upside there is new Bones tonight, two whole hours even :)

Tomorrow is my last official day of Atkins Induction and as of this morning I've lost 7 lbs :) Yay! I'm also so very excited to add nuts and berries back into my diet, it'll help my snack menu tremendously.
It's coming very soon. September is just around the corner and with it comes new TV :) Watch with Kirsten posted the premire schedule.
If you haven't seen the season 3 gag reel from Supernatural yet, check it out here at

From this article on food and weight loss myths:
Myth: Avoid coffee (and caffeine) because it contributes to illness, including cancer.
Fact: For most people who drink coffee in moderation, it's benign, even beneficial, says Harvard's Willett. True, too much coffee can cause insomnia, anxiety, irritability and headache, but coffee drinkers have fewer kidney stones and gallstones and a 50% lower suicide rate than non-coffee drinkers. And coffee isn't linked to cancer.
( Oh. My. Word. What!?! )
Is anyone else really annoyed by the completely overdone and obvious Degree product placement? It's kinda driving me nuts.

Gibb's new team—I'm happy with at least one of those and have no opinion on the others. I just hope that they don't pull what happened with House last year and have to new team all the in forefront and everyone else relegated to the background.
Is good. If you like SG-1 you should so go and buy. Very good movie. Leaps and bounds better than the last one (or, you know, the last three or four season of SG-1).
A very happy birthday to my fantastic younger brother Andrew :) Love you.
Also birthday best wishes to
beatrice_otter. Writer of great fan fic and thought stimulating theological posts. *hugs*

Ironman fic: "The Kids Aren't All Right" by Christine Everhart. Beyond amazing. Hands down the best fan fiction of any fandom I've ever read and I've read a lot. You have to go read it.
Thsrs, the shorter thesaurus. Type in a word and only get synonyms that are shorter than the original.
Liz Warner is back as a recurring regular and there's a new female junior agent played by Sophina Brown (formerly of Shark)
A couple friends just got engaged to each other and announced via a relationship status update on Facebook. I think I'm vaguely amused. I've also seen a couple of wedding invites via Facebook Events. I miss paper.
BTW - RL update with news on the now month old job coming soon. I promise. I'm also working on some Supernatural icons. I'm going to try and make one per episode starting with season one.

'Cause Justin Hartley aka Oliver Queen/Green Arrow will be a series regular *squee* this upcoming season. And yes, I am the girl who bought season six just to have the Green Arrow/Justice League episodes (it's the only season of Smallville I own).
Can you help me out here? I'm going to buy a camera this year and am in the process of figuring out which one I want so I can budget for it.
Quick questions:
- What digital camera do you own?
- Favorite thing about it?
- Least fave thing about it?
- Feature you wish it had?
- Features you consider most important.
Thanks!
