| HP Art: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun |
[Aug. 12th, 2008|07:57 pm] |
divinemum asked for a happy picture of Hermione and Ginny during their seventh year at Hogwarts for her daughters, whom she calls "Hermione" and "Ginny" on her LJ. I loved this request because it was a fun opportunity to show Hermione and Ginny being carefree and just being the teenage girls they are (and finally get to be now that Voldie got PWNED).
So this one's for "Hermione" and "Ginny" and Hermione and Ginny:

| HP Art: Complete Faith |
[Apr. 21st, 2008|11:05 pm] |
penny_sieve asked for an picture of the Granger-Weasleys around the time of the Epilogue so I drew my inspiration from this short exchange:
"Parked all right, then?" Ron asked Harry.
"I did. Hermione didn't believe I could pass a Muggle driving test, did you? She thought I'd have to Confund the examiner."
"No, I didn't," said Hermione, "I had complete faith in you."
"As a matter of fact, I did Confund him," Ron whispered to Harry, as together they lifted Albus's trunk and owl onto the train. "I only forgot to look in the wing mirror, and let's face it, I can use a Supersensory Charm for that."
( *Complete* faith )

| HP Art: Big Damn Emotional Journey |
[Dec. 14th, 2007|10:21 pm] |
After the Big Damn Anvil dropped back in August, I was commissioned to do something similar for Harry and Ginny. I like to think of it as a gift from a flock of canon-thumping sheep some H/Gers to their fellow shippers.
So you should all thank: angua9, carissa_lynn, connielane, divinemum, ginnyhermione, harryswheezy, hymnia, laurel_potter, lunalovepotter, miss_eponine, mrs_bombadil, peachespig, penny_sieve, thelittletwin, wahlee_98 and white_cerussite.
"And I feel that Ginny and Harry, in [HBP], they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They've both gone through a big emotional journey, and they've really got over a lot of delusions, to use your word, together." ~ J.K. Rowling On that note, I give you...

| Deathly Hallows art: Nineteen Years Later |
[Dec. 3rd, 2007|05:55 pm] |
I've been commissioned to do several epilogue-set or epilogue-era pieces, two of which I've already posted. These pieces definitely present a challenge. First, there's the aging of the adults. After aging the Trio and Ginny year-by-year, it's quite different to fast forward 19 years! Second, the kids -- there's very little to go on as far as physical description. Obviously, they will look something like their parents, but I also wanted to give each their own look.
Anyway, Gerry commissioned a piece from the epilogue showing both families. Oddly, there's only one scene where everyone is present...

| Art: Lazy Sunday |
[Oct. 30th, 2007|03:48 pm] |
A couple people commented on the fact that none of the kids had glasses in the last Potters pic. I considered giving one of them glasses like Harry, but I decided not to because I figured, even if one of them did need glasses, that they could always get contacts. And they've made amazing strides with that Occularo Lasikio charm.
;)
Anyway, for this Potter family pic, Maxime asked me to do a low-key scene of them at home. Enjoy.

| Art: The wand chooses the wizard |
[Oct. 20th, 2007|09:28 pm] |
:: confession time ::
So I actually like the epilogue. At least, I do now (I admit it really made me groan on first read). It grew on me and now I think it is funny and touching. And it's reassuring to know that all is well with characters I've grown to love.
Anyway, I especially like that the epilogue revolved around such a seminal moment for Albus Severus (oh gosh, what a name!) -- leaving from King's Cross for Hogwarts for the first time. So when penny_sieve requested a scene of the Potters circa the epilogue, I was inspired to depict another important moment for a young wizard...
( The wand chooses the wizard )
There should be a pic with the Granger-Weasleys sometime in the future...
Regarding Jo's latest bomb, I just have this to say after reading some reactions: she just cannot win. It's just bewildering. |

| DH Art: A Different Kind of Bravery Part Four |
[Sep. 20th, 2007|03:45 pm] |

Until, of course, you turned the page! Which had...naked Harry? A disfigured child? DUMBLEDORE? WTFBBQ?

| Commission: NOT in a galaxy far, far away |
[Sep. 10th, 2007|02:55 pm] |
We got so much information on Dumbledore's past in Deathly Hallows, including insight into his family and his relationship with his siblings. So when I got this commission request from Annie, I was intrigued. She wanted a random scene of the Dumbledore siblings before the attack.
So if this is before the attack, what year is this picture set?

| DH Art: A Different Kind of Bravery Part Three |
[Aug. 29th, 2007|03:20 pm] |
Accompanied by loved ones, Harry made his slow march to death. There was never any doubt, of course, that it would come down to Harry and Voldemort. But to have Harry fling "himself across Voldemort's path" without raising "a wand to defend himself" was truly awe-inspiring.

| [DH Art] A Different Kind of Bravery Part Two |
[Aug. 21st, 2007|10:12 pm] |
Having quietly resigned himself to his fate, Harry understood.
It did not matter about bringing them back, for he was about to join them. He was not really fetching them: They were fetching him.
Chills! Though Harry realised "it would have to be his decision" to move on, it was so poignant to have them all with him "until the very end."
( You've been so brave. )

[Aug. 20th, 2007|10:15 pm] |
As much fun as CLANG! was, it's time to Get Serious again.
Sacrifice is a powerful theme throughout the HP series. And Harry's journey -- his "cold-blooded walk to his own destruction" -- at the end of DH was positively heart-wrenching. It truly required a different kind of bravery.
Let the journey begin...
( I am about to die. )
More to come soon. |

How do I get myself into these things? Well, it all started with an e-mail I sent to redwood7 a couple weeks ago:
Also, my love for R/Hr is growing even more, if that's possible. What do you think of that idea of doing a picture depicting them through the years, from trains to trolls and slugs, awkward hugs, international Quidditch stars, canaries and fangs? Rach is always happy to have something new to nag me about make me do even more work facilitate:
Dude, I love this idea.
OMGITSHOULDBEACOLLAGESHAPEDLIKEAHEART.
Ok gross. I think it should include more than just one scene per book, but that makes it a pretty big undertaking. Are you up for it? Apparently I was:
I BOUGHT HUUUGE SHEETS OF PAPER TONIGHT. IT'S RON AND HERMIONE. OF COURSE I AM UP FOR IT. And thus it began.
Well, after literally hundreds of e-mails; hours of chatting, list-making, canon-checking, and layout-planning (alas, no heart shape!); 28 rough sketches; 57 pieces of paper; 3 pencils, and one jammed thumb, here's what we like to call:
Big Damn Anvil |

| [DH Art] Chapter Thirty Two |
[Aug. 12th, 2007|01:46 pm] |
The Battle of Hogwarts was one Big Damn Action Sequence, but some moments really stood out. And after seeing the Order of the Phoenix movie this week (best one yet - why is Kloves coming back?!?), I was especially inspired to draw this one.

| [DH Art] Chapter Twenty Four |
[Aug. 3rd, 2007|03:20 pm] |
Well, I've done happy. I've done humourous . I thought it time to draw a sad scene, and I must say that this particular scene affected me more than I could have imagined.
( Good and brave )
More next week. Have a good weekend, everyone. |

I realise that Harry got all sorts of memorable gifts for his birthday in Book 7, but who could pass up the opportunity to make him relive an embarrassing moment like this...
( Tastier than Crabbe and Goyle )
By the way, for those who were looking for older pictures... ArtDungeon.Net is back. The new galleries will have to wait a little more, though. Many thanks to edeainfj for helping (again) with the set up. :) |

| [DH Art] Chapter Thirty One |
[Jul. 30th, 2007|10:21 pm] |
Back from vacations, which were pretty nice (albeit short - they always are!) and ended with reading HP7 on a marvelous beach. Heh.
In other news, I've been receiving far too many e-mails regarding my website, which has been down for a month or so. Basically, my host seems to have gone out of business and, as that happened right before I left, there was no time for me to fix it. Now that I am back, I have moved to a new host but it should be a couple of days before the site is back online.
Moving on...
First art from DH -- I am sorry, it's something I had to get out of the way before doing anything else! Many thanks to redwood7 for the nagging the art bunnies. ;)
( Now or never )
More tomorrow!
ETA: Okay, stupid Photobucket resized the image. You should be able to see it properly now. |

| Away |
[Jul. 3rd, 2007|07:39 am] |
Alas, I was going to post some art but I ended up having no time to upload it. :(
Anyway, this is just to say that starting today, I will be away on vacation and I won't have any internet access until the end of the month, more or less. Any pending matters will have to wait until then.
Enjoy the OotP movie and the seventh book! See you on the other side. :p |

| [Art] PoA and HBP |
[May. 18th, 2007|07:50 pm] |
Long time, no post. Was Christmas that long ago?...Oops. I wish I could say it was because of some interesting reason, like running away with the circus or something, but the truth is more boring -- just been busy, busy, busy, both with work and personal stuff. Ah, that pesky RL stuff. Sorry for worrying some of you, and for not always having the time to reply to all the queries.
Regarding that poll -- no need to vote anymore; the Sectusempra scene has won (my, you must be a bloodthirsty lot) and I will get to it as soon as possible. That should be fun.
In the meanwhile, here you have some art:
For Billie: ( ...like a brother )
For ciroccoj:( a bunch of Slytherins )
For Jenny: ( I love you, Hermione )
More next week!
Some of you have asked about commissions -- just e-mail me (seviet at livejournal dot com) but please understand that there are yet a few to be finished first (:: waves to Dee Dee, Jason, Hannah, Gidge and Mike:: ).
Those of you who are at Phoenix Rising -- well, I am not there, obviously, but my art is. Just look for Lissanne/ alissomora in Pontalbon House (follow the Aussie accent, as she says) and she will fill you in.
What else?
Oh, yeah. BOOK SEVEN YAY! ;p
Off I go. Have a nice weekend, everyone. |

| New year, new poll... |
[Jan. 4th, 2007|12:00 am] |
As per my last post, here you have a poll. I just listed the scenes that had been nominated more than once. Lots of good ideas all around, though! I had forgot about many of the nominated scenes.
Poll #900000
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: AllWhich of the following scenes would you like me to draw?
Thanks, everyone!
ETA: I can't edit polls, but it's hands instead of 'heads'. Le sigh. |

( Happy holidays! )
Some art:

For moony: ( OotP: Joint Xmas Present )
For spidergirl30: ( HBP: Courting during Herbology Class )
For Maple:( HBP: Harry and Ginny battling )

I have had a quite busy couple of months, so I didn't really have the chance to do this before. Better late than never, though.
I want you to tell me in the comments which scene (ONE SCENE ONLY!) from any of the six books you would like me to do. The most nominated scenes will make it to a poll sometime next week and all of you will get to vote (yay democracy!). This will be my (belated) Christmas present to you.
A couple of conditions: don't ask for scenes I have already done (in doubt, look in the archives here. (Well, at the time of posting the website is down. Le sigh.) And, er, the following scenes are out as well, since all of them have been commissioned and will be done in the near future:
1. Remus and Sirius' hug in PoA. 2. Ginny taking harry away from Dumbledore's body - HBP. 3. Snape killing Dumbledore - HBP. (ETA: forgot this one...)4. Harry spying the Slytherins on the Hogwarts Express - HBP.
Everything else is fair game, though!

Happy holidays, everyone, and be good. ( Or not. ) |
