More Eliza progress pictures - I'm mostly finished the vest now except for some touch-up painting and stuf.

I fixed how it's falling. :) And interfaced the front.

Thanks for everybody who offered suggestions :D

Because [info]piratess__ asked, here are some progress pictures of my Otakon costume. I thought it looked fairly good on, but then I saw the pictures. /o\ This is without all the shiny add-ons (floating rocks and stuff) that'll hopefully obscure how crappily this thing fits, but. Mrr.

I had to make my own patterns for this, which is part of the problem. The other part? The vest fastens only at that one part and has only ZIG-ZAG SEAMS. THERE IS A REASON YOU NEVER SEE THESE IN REALITY. They are IMPOSSIBLE to get to lie flat... mrr.

Also, I didn't put enough volume in the vest. Oh well.

Somehow, I think the wrong answer to somebody telling you that they hate themselves and blame themselves for everything that goes even the slightest bit wrong is to laugh at them.

Just saying.

SO HEY GUYS.

GUESS WHAT I JUST DID.

THAT'S RIGHT, I BEAT P3FES. ALL OF IT. DAMN THAT TOOK A LONG TIME.

Anyway - Driver's Ed is boring, but three hours of it a day is also draining me far too much to do costume/sewing work aside from prop painting. My life is, in general, a bit boring right now, but I don't have time to make it interesting. Yada yada yada.

'Night!

So, guess who's gotten THREE pairs of cute flannel bloomers/pajama pants done in TWO days?

AND completed all construction on the dress portion of her cosplay?

Why yes, that's me!

Also, obviously, I've rediscovered LJ. Ph34r, people. Ph34r.

Summary: Tybalt needs forgiveness.
Word Count: 751
Other: A present for the amazingly awesome [info]peridium! It's an AU of our two characters, Tybalt and Adeline. It's a bit hard to tell from how short this is, but it's set in medeival Europe (I suppose), complete with monarchs and witch trials!

I called up and got my AP scores today. :D

Macroeconomis: 5
Statistics: 5
English: 5
European History: 5
Latin Literature (Catullus & Ovid): 5!

CLEAN SWEEP. HELLZ YEAH.

And I got all 5's last year, for those just tuning in, so...

Survey says: I pwn at standardized tests. Even the ones where you actually need to know something.

Also, any of my NYC-area friends interested in a steampunk-themed picnic party in August?

So, I got blood-red highlight/streaks/whatever. :D And it makes all the rest of my hair look like it's this dark purpleish red color, even though it's still just brown.

And it looks awesome.

Also, I drove for about two hours total this weekend. I drove for the first time ever! And I've mastered the three- and five-point-turn, can back out of places fairly easily, know how to work blinkers (lulz), and actually went onto the road for all of ten minutes (down to a bridge on an empty country road, five-point-turned-around, and back to the driveway.)

I'm still terrified of going over 20 mph and being around other people in cars, but not too shabby, hm?

Coworker mini-rant:

Um, what part of me sitting on the phone talking business with a potential patient makes it okay to use the pencil sharpener right by my head? Hm? Who exactly thinks that's a good time to use it?

Oh, right, the person complaining about how few new patients we have! Right!

Really, sometimes I wonder... D:

Quick update on my Eliza costume- the dress/nightgown portion is pretty much finished and looks pretty awesome with the partial duster I have :D I'm pretty proud, seeing as how I drafted the pattern for it without any held at all. I had to do emergency panel-adding on the sides, but it actually makes it hang very nicely. I just need to trim some excess fabric, hem it, do all the fancy stuff with the sleeves, and finish the collar and add. :D I did all the construction in one day, along with finishing the basic construction of my last skirt. Now all I have to do on THAT one is add the ruffles!

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed."
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

Skirt and Vest! )

Thanks for looking, everybody! Any suggestions of things to add? :) I'm thinking I need something for my head... but I only have mini top-hats, and they look exceedingly costume-y.

I'm working on clothing again! Sewing machine is now fixed. :) I'm taking a break today, though, because the six-seven hour manic sewing from yesterday really wore me out. I'll probably work on button holes, still, though.

Title: The Princess and the Mercenary (1/?)
Author: [info]serindrana
Series: Last Exile (AU, though - far more takes place on the land and some of the dynamics have shifted)
Pairing: Alex/Sophia
Rating: PG-13, potentially higher in later chapters
Notes: First, thanks to [info]tree00faery for beta-ing! I probably forgot some of your suggestions, but I did keep them in mind as much as possible.

Second, this is at is base a Beauty and the Beast story, and AU. How much is a bit hard to explain, but Sophia was never aboard the Silvana, Alex has a slightly different function and a rather different 'crew', and Disith isn't across the skies - it's across the mountain range. Other than that, I'll try and explain it over the course of the story.

Please leave feedback! I haven't quite finished the next part, so your suggestions will be taken into account :D

I have officially graduated! :)

With the top departmental award in English, no less~

AND I have accomplished one of my life goals.

Background: I saw my fifth grade teacher again for the first time in years recently. She's now teaching at a middle school. She asked to see some of my current writing, since she obviously hasn't seen any since I was 10, and I sent her Fogbound (which I still need to post up. Ahem.)

Here's where the fulfilment of a dream comes in:

She worked it into a lesson plan for her class.

My writing has been taught in a class.

She wrote back to tell me that it had gone over a lot of their heads (no surprise), but still! :DDD

Okay, so, I have two graduation presents (the one or two from the rest of my family are coming in a few weekends at the official party:

iPod nano (I needed a new one, though I sort of would've preferred the normal size >.>; )
Steampunk necklace

The necklace is awesome! It's built around an old optometrist's test lens, and get this: IT IS PRETTY MUCH my EXACT PRESCRIPTION. Obviously meant for me, hur-hur.

In other news: Persona 3 is cracked out awesomeness. I just finished up the second block of Tartarus, and I still have about a week in-game until the next section opens up :)
