My poor car this morning. They got John’s car too. Either we specifically were targeted, or we’re just the convenient ones who don’t park RIGHT in front of our building.
You have to admit, the artistry IS a little funny. My other windows say ‘Ass ho’, ‘Ass hoe’, and ‘Withyo Bitches’. ::shrug::

Too girly

Let me just preface this by saying this: I hate makeup.
There. Yes, I hate makeup. I wear it as little as possible because it makes me feel sticky and sweaty on my face. In the heat down here, it all tends to melt off in 15 minutes when I'm working outside anyway, so why bother?

When I do (about once a month) put on makeup, I wear Mary Kay. It feels smoother and silkier than anything else. So when I met a client who sells Mary Kay, I asked her if they had anything new. She replied "Actually, we've just introduced a new mineral powder line!" I've always wanted to try it, but it looked too easy to be true and I told her so. She said "No way! Come by my office on Thursday night. We do makeovers every week and we can get you set up with how to apply it and what types of things you'll want to use!"
Dubious, I made my appointment and told myself it was going to suck.

The appointment was last night. I showed up at 6pm and sat down. I expected that my 'beauty consultant' would actually one-on-one with me and show me how to apply things and work with me picking out thinks and colors I'd like to wear. What actually happened was 7 other women showed up and we were all seated around cards tables and given oral instructions on how to apply said makeup. It was all very step-by-step and helpful but I still sat there without a clue for most of the night while the other women chattered around me like magpies.

They all knew what they were doing. I felt like a kid on a first date. I haven't had any makeup instruction since I was 13, and that was one of those mall counter makeovers. I was at a total loss with how to use the products. I did my best to follow the instructions and such, but I still felt like all the other women were going to point and laugh at me when I was done.

Even though I felt like an idiot, I still bought some of the mineral makeup because it felt so good on. I also got cleanser and moisturizer because they didn't dry me out or goop me up. I'll just have to practice a lot with the mineral stuff. ::sigh::

I got home three hours later and the estrogen was still clinging to me. Uhg. John took one look at me and asked me if I needed to scratch my (non-exsistant!) balls while he got me a beer.

Talking about accounting:

John: So, it’s all nitty-gritty rules. I can remember D&D rules like that, but acounting is more trouble.

Heather: Yeah, but you also read your D&D books in the bathroom and I’ve yet to see you take an accounting book in there.

John: Yeah, they’re usually full of enough shit already.

I'm so in love with newborn sessions. When we get ahold of babies under 2 weeks old, it's like a magic time when they're asleep and curly. Unless you're this poor girl and your photographer's noise machine breaks while shooting. Yeah, this sweetheart was not happy with me at all. Destroying your Flist again because this girl is the new baby of a friend of John and mine.

Let me preface this by saying that I freaking hate political anything. No, I'm not watching the news, no I don't care who you're voting for, no I don't give a crap about the mudslinging commercials and no, I didn't see the debates.

Meet baby Tang. I had to spotlight this one (and destroy your f-list) because he's the gorgeous baby of a friend of ours. We showed up and he was awake. He nursed and was still awake. The room was a sauna and he was still awake. I began to fret that I'd lost my touch at getting babies asleep when his mommy finally knocked him out with another nursing.

orly bush
Omg, the cat likes strawberry yogurt. This gets added to the list of other odd things she eats like Doritos, salmon jerky, Parkay and raisins.

What's up with the recent trend of trumpet and mermaid cut wedding dresses? Ick. I don't want my knees strapped together, I want to dance!

I'm STILL pissed about not making up to Ohio for smushy baby photos of my brother's son.

Pregnant dreams suck.

Vent

My vent for this month/week/year/something:

I'm a new aunt. My brother's wife just had their first baby, a son, on Monday the 18th. It was always understood that i would come do a newborn session for them. Too bad hurricane Fay didn't understand.
First, we were going to drive (an 8 hour drive from Ga to Ohio) but then John's dad said he could fly us in his Cessna in only 3 hours. The baby was born with a nasty conehead, so we were going to wait until Sunday to go. The with the nasty weather, it was Wednesday. Then Thursday. Then friday. Then sunday again. Then back to friday.
Come Friday, the weather is just too nasty and he can't take us at all and tells us to fly commercially because the big jets can get through it where little planes can't. So, I book for today.
How my day was supposed to go:
10am: leave house
12pm: arrive and check in at airport
1pm: get lunch
2pm: depart
4pm: stopover
6pm: arrive in Ohio

How may day actually went:
10am: leave house
11:30: arrive at airport and check in
12:00: lunch
1pm: flight delayed from 2:10 to 2:40. Not an issue, still have time to connect at stopover.
1:30pm: flight totally canceled, I am moved from the 2:10 flight to the 3:25 flight, putting me in Ohio at 9pm.
1:45: call airline to whine and see if i can get on a different flight. while on the phone, the 3:25 flight is delayed to 3:55 and again to 4:40, putting me into Ohio at 10:30pm, when no one can get me.
2pm: airline cannot get me on another flight so I cancel whole trip for a refund and go get my bags. Obviously, I'm just not supposed to be in ohio this week. Go wait for John to pick me up again.
3pm: wait
4pm: wait
5pm: wait
6pm: wait
7pm: finally leave airport. as i am leaving, I check the flight info. That 4:40 flight is not an 8:15, putting me into Ohio at 3AM. Yeah, so not happening.
I'm so DONE with travel right now.

If you could pick any TV show that has been off the air to come back for one more season, which show would you pick and why?

Hands down it had to be Time Squad. A thug and a robot sent back from the future to keep the past from unraveling. An early example of this shows Eli Whitney failing to invent the cotton gin, instead creating a horde of flesh-eating robots. I mean, you really can't go wrong with this show, it's just so damn funny.

McCain staffer slams Dungeons and Dragons players

Jimmy sez, "Michael Goldfarb of the John McCain campaign oddly disses gamers in his post yesterday on the John McCain blog."

"It may be typical of the pro-Obama Dungeons & Dragons crowd to disparage a fellow countryman's memory of war from the comfort of mom's basement, but most Americans have the humility and gratitude to respect and learn from the memories of men who suffered on behalf of others."

I know I've been quiet as of late. The problem is that there's just plain nothing going on. It's crazy back to school time for all of our clients, which means I have no sessions booked until September. I'm headed to Ohio for a couple of days to do squishy newborn photos for my brother's baby when he is born, but that won't be until the end of this week or so, and that leaves another pretty much two full weeks of nothing for work.

It's sad too, because we're doing free sessions for August if people donate to www.team-angel.org, but it's just really the wrong time of year. I'm disappointed for the donations we'd hoped to help out with, but also sad to let all these wonderful cool weather evenings pass by.

I do have to share some recent photos though, of course.

I think we talked to about 150 people that day, and we were stuck all the way down on the furthest end of the last aisle. I seriously had a LONG day because I'm so introverted.

Recent work photos. Lots of babies recently.
