3rd Anniversary Trip! [Apr. 6th, 2008|08:24 am]

Shining Layers
Originally uploaded by Uffdah.
We got back from our 3rd anniversary trip on Friday, and I went through the many many photos I took and uploaded quite a few to Flickr. We drove down I-5 over to Highway 101 in Oregon, starting our coastal tour in Tillamook, OR and Pacific City, OR, and heading down 101 to Highway 1 in California, driving that all the way to San Francisco where we stopped for a couple days. After that, we drove down to San Jose to the Winchester Mystery House, and then back over to I-5 where we drove all the way home over the course of a couple days.

After the trip I found that I really really love the Oregon coast, but Highway 1 much less so (although there were some stunning vistas!). Highway 1 for those who don't know is a extremely curvy road which has you turning back and forth over and over and over. I do already miss the ocean though. I'll have to plan another trip to the Oregon coast sooner rather than later. :)

You can see all the photos in this set with this link!

[music |Sailor Moon JP Theme Song]

So, in the last few weeks a few things happened. As per usual I shall put them behind a cut so as to not make anyone's friend page ginormous with just this one post. So yes.

Small (Hopefully) Update! [Mar. 16th, 2007|09:32 am]
[mood | happy]
[music |O-Zone - Dragostea din Tei]

So the big thing this week - SCHOOL DONE. At least for the next couple weeks. While I could be going on to my statistics class website and posting fixes to responses made about homework questions I answered, I am so done with school for the moment it hurts. More good news is, spring quarter for me is just one math class and then I will have earned my second AA degree. Purdy neat huh?
More update after the cut! )

Guinness!! [Feb. 11th, 2007|10:22 pm]
[mood | bouncy]
[music |Brobdingnagian Bards - Johnny Jump Up]

Grah, I've been listening to all these drinking songs courtesy of the Brobdingnagian Bards and hearing talk of guinness via their podcasts and thought immediately OMG NOW I WANT A GUINNESS.

And here I sat thinking "aww but I don't have any" when apparently I DID but it was not cold. So it's kinda sucky, 'cause while I do have some, it is 100% unrefrigerated. Well, maybe now it is 1% refrigerated.

I also learned that in other beer news, Mac & Jack's is of course a local beer (which is quite good) but it is not bottled and sold! It comes only in keg form (or sold at certain local eateries). This news makes me sad.

I also want to know what the brand of cider that is sold at the irish pub in the U-District is, 'cause that was freaking delicious (but also freaking expensive!). I could drink it all night, but I'd likely pass out eventually, nevermind how light my wallet would get. ;)

Lastly, while I know Valentine's day is coming up I am much more interested in St. Patrick's Day, especially now that I have Guinness on the brain. On a related side note, guinness merchandise is expensive.

So yes. Tomorrow I shall have my Guinness. I hope. Also it needs to warm up more so I can wear my freakin' kilt again. KIIIILT. Want more kilts. (>.<)

Hooray for pointless posts. ^____^

Not sure what this indicates. [Jan. 17th, 2007|03:21 pm]
[mood | confused]
[music |Johnny Socko - Old School Master]

I've done some self-analysis but I don't know what it means. I've noticed myself enjoying many a stereotypically stoner sort of thing or media, be it a movie (like Harold & Kumar or Jay & Silent Bob stuff), some sort of music / band (such as Tripping Daisy or Stara Zagora) or even now lava lamps and such things. The oddest thing is that I don't do drugs. <.< Well, aside from the odd drink now and then, but certainly never pot or anything of that sort. So I dunno if it's just some weird coincidence or if there's some other sort of weird reason as to why I would be drawn to these things. ^^; Obviously I don't enjoy ALL stoner activities, and I lack black lights and black light posters and any sort of marijuana leaf merchandise, but yeah. I dunno what it is that draws me to these things.

Whatever the reason, I guess I like what I like and I plan to continue enjoying them drug-free. :P

OMG CHOCOBOS [Jan. 10th, 2007|10:24 am]
Japan recently saw the release of "Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book", a lil' adventure game for the DS filled with mini-games and whatnots. It looks massively cute (and as it features chocobos and mages it is of course irresistable to me) and I had considered importing it, but just now I learned that it would be having a US release, in April this year no less! Well, guess I'll just have to be patient for it, in the meantime enjoy FF3 and Castlevania on mah DS (and of course Pangya aka Super Swing Golf and everything else on the Wii).

If you's curious to see stuff about it, check out the Japanese site here, or the US site here, although the JP site already has wallpapers and stuff on it if you do a tiny bit of searching. ;)

Zomg New Year Update~ [Jan. 3rd, 2007|09:58 am]

[music |Stuff on iPod]

I neglect this thing purty darn good. I'm still not sure that many people other than myself read it (and I use it mainly for my own reference of my life's events of course, what with it bein' a journal and all) and I keep myself busy doing all sorta things, and thus it doesn't get updated. :P

I shall cut this here post for length (because my posts generally end up being much too long). )

Sony bad. [Oct. 24th, 2006|08:51 am]
[mood | pissed off]

So this weekend I picked up a lil' game called Rhythm Tengoku, a fun lil' rhythm game for the GBA that is so far (and only going to be so far as I know) import only. I found my copy at the only local game importer left that I know of, Pink Godzilla. I've had a history of importing games, and obviously knowing a fair amount of Japanese helps in actually playing them.

Now, when looking into importing I know my options. There's Play-Asia, National Console Support, Himeya, of course the earlier mentioned Pink Godzilla, and Lik-Sang... only, wait.

As of today, Sony has effectively shut Lik-Sang down for selling Japanese PSPs and for taking pre-orders for Japanese / Asian PS3's in other countries!

Wow. Here I thought the worst Sony could do was make themselves look like arrogant retards, but this latest development really takes the cake for me. The rest of it was just stupid grandstanding, but this? Ugh. Lik-Sang sold much more than just Sony crap. They sold cool lil' import toys, other systems, other systems' games, etc. They were good at what they did, and now Sony shut 'em down by draining their funds through legal fees. Lovely. Well if I needed any more reason to not get a PSP or PS3, there it is! I mean I had already pretty much decided against the PSP since I lub my DS so much, but I was kinda on the fence about the PS3 (definitely not for launch, I'd have waited for price drops and games I actually want). But this... it brings me to a new level of disgust. Sure, I can get the some of the things I want to import elsewhere, but each retailer seems to have their own differences in stocked merchandise, and this will decrease the amount of reputable options.

Oh well Sony. I know you guys have such high hopes for your new system. I'm sure someone else will be glad to take my spot, right?

Oh FFXI how I miss thee [Oct. 10th, 2006|02:32 pm]
[mood | nostalgic]
[music |Nobuo Uematsu - Sarutabaruta]

Long has it been since my virtual self walked the lands of Vana'Diel, and time and time again since then my mind wanders back to those days of joyous bliss. Bliss comprised of sitting on my butt for hours on end staring at a computer monitor / tv screen talking to people I don't know in Japanese and trying ever so desperately to hang onto those experience points I spent countless hours collecting. Gone are the days of parading as a short stubby Tarutaru with a big straw Black Mage hat. And yet listening to the music brings me back and makes me wish for the ability to run around thwacking Yagudo, crawlers and all other manner of palette changed beasties. I know if I went back the game I missed wouldn't be there. Sure there would still be running around and thwacking, but gone would be all my past achievements as well as the lazy days of working part time and living with family, essentially eliminating game time altogether. Nevermind the monthly fees that would be re-instated. Ahh but I long for the past, ever vigilent in my nostalgic musings.

At least the music and the memories still remain.

Accomplishments~ [Aug. 9th, 2006|11:33 am]
[mood | accomplished]
[music |Killer Instinct - Freeze]

Since Saturday, I have accomplished the following:

- Hit the 50 Lb mark on the weight loss front.

- Beat Final Fantasy XII. There are of course still side-quest things I can do, but they all involve grinding with the leveling and the killing and the stuff. Already got 104 hours out of it. Considering youtube supplied me with vids of all the stuff I haven't seen / got yet, not sure if I'll bother. It was fun while it lasted though.

- Beat God of War. I apparently only had a couple hours worth or less of gameplay left. It was worth the players' choice price, definately.

Next up for video games to play / finish are Metal Gear Solid 3 (a friend has been bugging me to borrow this from him for a good while), Hot Shots Golf Fore! (just got it last night, used for $15, yeehaw) and Dragon Quest 8. DQ8 is a looong game too, but I think I was somewhere between 40-50 hours in last time I played.

In other news, I just ate me a good helpin' of veggie chili (home made).

Also, yesterday I went to ze mall in my new-ish Utilikilt. Seriously these things are COMFY. I haven't seen too many gawkers, and haven't received any comments, positive or negative (only comments are from friends & family so far, definitely no LOL SKIRT comments from the peanut gallery). Standing in one spot for a while did give opportunity for some ladies to walk by (from behind) with interesting looks on their faces (as in they were looking behind them as they walked on). There was also a group of guys that came by and stopped for a minute but I dunno what they were doing. General shuffling around. Anyway, I loves me kilt. Highly reccomended. ;)

Ahh, the power of complaining. [Jun. 29th, 2006|01:16 pm]
[mood | relieved]
[music |King 98.1 FM - Classical]

Once upon a time, in an apartment not too long ago, there was a refrigerator. Not just any refrigerator, but a magical one. It had its own personality, and one day, it became angry, frustrated that it had been condemned to a life of hard work with no thanks paid to it. It decided one day that it wouldn't work as hard, and in turn spoiled all the dairy and meat held within. ... ok this story is too much work.

*Ahem* The damn fridge stopped working 3 weeks ago, and so we tossed all the perishables and defrosted the fridge. Afterwards the fridge worked excerrent, at least for the last 2.5 weeks. I would have had the apartment staff check it out but I figured since it was working there was no need. Then it began rapidly becoming un-cold again, until we had an even warmer fridge than before. 70 degree milk isn't my idea of delicious. So we once again tossed all our dairy and meat and called up the front desk once again, and they did come by the next day. They said "it felt cool to me?" Ha. The thermometer was in there to counter effect this line of thinking, and it was hot outside. Of COURSE it feels cooler. Anyway. They told me to call again the next day if it was not working still, which to me was just kind of silly since I told them we'd monitored it for days. We waited anyway. Called them up yesterday, and by that afternoon there was a new (well, possibly new, possibly yanked from another apartment, I dunno) fridge where the old one used to be, re-filled with all the stuff we had kept inside it even though the temps weren't satisfactory (although the freezer was okay-ish). The magnets and papers had been re-applied, everything was in working order. I was beaming because I was sooo happy that I could once again store cheese and actually make my own lunch for work again! Then it was just a 2 hour visit to the local albertsons and our food was stocked once again.

It feels really nice to have problems really, fully and actually resolved. That is, unless this is a dud. But so far, so good. We just have to keep an eye on the freezer door as it didn't like staying shut so much last night apparently.

Cats can be a pain in the ass sometimes. [Jun. 19th, 2006|01:42 am]
[mood | tired]
[music |Gimli purring]

Hi, my name is Gimli. I'm glad you enjoyed your two nights away from home, and I'm so happy you got someone to feed me and clean my litter box while you were away. Now that you're home however, I am choosing the perfect time for me to tell you all about the things that went on while you were gone. That time is approximately 1AM until whenever the hell I feel like shutting up. After I have given you 1 to 2 minute breaks between meowing and scratching sessions behind your door, negating any chance you had of keeping your eyes closed in the forseeable future, you will have no choice but to come out and visit with me instead of doing whatever it was you wanted to do in that bed thing you guys like to go in every night. Except the last two nights of course, which is why I'm going to bug the hell out of you. And now that you're up, you wouldn't mind getting me a can of tuna would you?
