IDVP - Day 15!
You may ask yourself, "What does SDW do when she wakes up at 2:30 in the morning with cramps and can't go back to sleep?" Well I'll tell you what she does - she does her IDVP vid for the day.

Today's vidlet was suggested by [info]scarlettgirl. She asked for a Season 4 vid (especially Wesley) set to Kid Rock's, "I'm A Dog."

I'm A Dog (6.4 MB)

Please note that there is naughty language in this song, so watch/listen at your own risk. :P

Lyrics
Freedom or death, nothing left to do but fill it up
Triple x eyes and lust
You need to give it up
Live it up sucker
cause their saying my days are numbered
Who wants to live long anyway?

It's a goddamn shame
people that look at me
but I know in the end you give a fuck about me
that's the reason I spit fire
that's the reason I'ma set your ass on fire
I should've never left the bottom
and if they want the truth then tell them bitches I shot 'em

I'm a dog baby
See me riding 'cross the country
I'm a dog, bitch
big suitcase full of money
I'm a dog, woman
And I'm roll in an El Camino
I'm a d-dog

My Thoughts
If you know this song, then you know that I juggled verses like a vidder with a God complex. But there were just some lines too good to pass up and they were in vastly different areas and I wanted to bring them together. And lo! I saw that it was good. There's a little audio jump at the end when it cuts to "I'm a dog" that bothers me and would be fixed if it was any day not today. Heh.

I can't decide what I think about the vid. I like it just fine on the one hand, but I feel like it's missing something on the other. I messed around with text within the vid today because that's something that I've never done and there are moments I like it and other moments I think it fails, especially the "sucker" and "freedom or death" sections. I was trying to teach myself Motion this morning and spent a good hour and a half trying to figure that out and how I could work with it and my vid and then finally realized that was a battle for another time. But at least I forced myself to open it up and randomly click stuff, which is always the first step.

My final thought: Season 4 Wesley is hot.

What I Learned
Not too much this time, honestly. I used the Bars and Tone generator for that bit at the very end. I played around with keyframing the scale of an overlaid clip for the text, and for the lust clip I used a drop shadow set to 100 opacity, 100 softness, and colored yellow instead of black. I also messed around in Motion but the fruits of that knowledge was not borne by this vid.

Now it's time to go to work. Oh boy! *cough* Also on the agenda for today: decorating our tree, taking pictures, getting the light timer to work on the outside lights, cleaning out the garage so I can pull my car in, preparing for our vacation, and ripping source for the last IDVP vid tomorrow.

Guh...

Guh....

::thud::

That was just too hot and sexy. It's inappropriate for Prime Time and just what I wanted.

Very, very nicely down. I see what you mean about the cuts, but you're right, some lines were just too good not to squeeze in. Although now I'm salivating for the whole song! The choice of clips was perfect - all those cocking guns...::fans self::

Wesley should always be packing heat. ALWAYS.

Yes, S4 Wesley is off the charts hot.

And in one of the "Excuse me while I kiss this guy" lyric confuzzles, I always thought it was "I should have never left the bottle" which is, you know, also perfect for Wesley. He was thisclose to twelve-step for a while.

I absolutely love you for doing this!!!

Yes. It should be mandatory accessory for him. Shotgun or pistol is good, they both have their moments. ;) I'm so very glad you liked this! It was lots and lots of fun to make. This is one of the few I enjoy re-watching.

Y'know, even when these haven't lived up to what you could see them being, there has to be something refreshing about trying out as much as possible and seeing results so quickly.

There is an exuberance to this one that I really got a kick out of. That first shot and the "Ha"s had me grinning right away. I also really dug the quick cuts to all of the other characters in the middle.

Hee. See Wesley kick ass. Kick ass, Wesley, kick ass! :D

Oh yes yes yes. It's really wonderful to try something and get immediate feedback on it. And to put it out there knowing that it's a trial, so if it doesn't work, there's really no pressure. It was a great release valve of vidding angst.

I love the description of it as exuberant. That's really quite appropriate. Thank you!

Well, you don't know me or anything, but I'm a huge fan [see also: lurker] of both your icons and your music vidoe's. Anyhow, I'm just leaving a comment to tell you I am taking and crediting, one of your Andrew icons. You can see it in my icon list, I've said it's by you.

...I never know what to say in these things...

Ah, just remembered I hadn't feedbacked on the last two IDVP's...and Oh.My.God!! I never knew Wesley was so smoking!!

Um, yeah, me likes the bad boy Wesley very much.

I actually think the text usage works very well for this vid, it adds to the edgyness of it. I love the slowed down shot at .52 when he's pulling up the shotgun, very nice touch coming so soon after the fast cuts at .42.

Mm-hm. He's a hottie. Thanks for the feedback on the text. Upon re-watching now that a month has passed, I find it worked a lot better than I first thought, so I'm glad others agree. :)

Can't argue with the hotness of Wes on this one -- loved all the gun scenes (hmm, I wonder what that means?) especially the "spit fire" lyric matched with the double-pistol pack shot. I seriously couldn't tell that you messed around with the song that much -- I thought you found some kind of remix that I hadn't heard, so great edits all the way around.

I'm glad the song wasn't too choppily edited. The song's stanzas are pretty standard, so cutting at certain points doesn't throw off the rhythm as much as in other songs. The guns seem to be a big hit. ;)
