IDVP - Day 12!
I don't know if it's because I'm busy doing mostly non-computer stuff on the weekends, but it's been hardest to drag myself to the computer these last two days than the whole rest of the project so far.

Today's vidlet was suggested by [info]catatonic1242, who asked for an Angel character vid set to Tori Amos' "Agent Orange." Cat - I know that's what you asked for but I don't know what happened, it became a sort of bitter Fred/Angel vid. You'll see. I hope it's ok.

Lyrics
Mister suntan
mister happy man
mister I know the girls
on all the world tours
mister agent
he's my favorite
and they don't understand
he's got palm oil fans

yes he's down and there
and everywhere
he's getting an a to z
an underwater city
where she swims and swims

My Thoughts
This vid started out as an unseen "I' narrator. And then I needed to rip source and I thought it would be a Cordy narration. But then I tried to pinpoint who the "she" would be and thought it should be a Fred narration about Angel and Cordy. And then when I tried to rip a key scene from "Offspring," my source kept coming out completely ruined so I had to drop that. And I figured I'd make it a general Fred POV of Angel in season 3, including scenes of Connor and the others. And then I realized Angel kind of leads Fred on and boy I wonder if she's bitter and, well, here we are. So the "she" became innocent Fred and the narration is "dumped" Fred. In case you're wondering, the original end clip was supposed to be Cordy ascending in 'Tomorrow.'

I actually like how this turned out, especially the "they don't understand" part with the quick transitions and the end where it brightens up to white.

What I Learned
A lot of playing around with transitions this time. It opens with a cross-zoom from black, then uses a spinback 3d transition. The four quick shots of the women use Swing transitions with the Angle of Axis either 0 or 180 degrees. I use an Additive Dissolve at 1:18 which I absolutely love. That's an effect I'm definitely going to be putting to use again. There's a random edge wipe at 1:33 and, finally, the last clip I applied a keyframed brightness filter to get that fade to white.

We put our Christmas lights up today along our deck and I can't stop looking outside at all the twinkly colored lights. It looks really pretty and festive. There's also a Tigger Santa hat adorning my work laptop screen and it's making me laugh. Only two more episodes of Keen Eddie left, and no more "new" episodes for me (tonight was the last one I hadn't seen - "Sticky Fingers").

Me love.

I like the cuts on "I know the girls" and "he's getting an a to z" and I *really* loved Fred's underwater city. It's very Tori to have the narrator talking about two different versions of herself. Love! *mwah*

Wow. I thought this one was BRILLIANT. The transitions and the cuts with the pauses in the lyrics and the ending shot is just completely inspired. I hate to say it, but you do some of your best work when you don't *want* to do it! Heheh.

Great job, chickie.

Hee, darn that unwanted inspiration. ;) I actually really love the ending shot, I stumbled across it and it's what sold me on the idea of it being a Fred/Angel vid. *smooshes you*

Hi. I just wanted to say that I really liked this, especially the closing shot and, as has been already mentioned, the cuts during "mister I know the girls".

Brilliant use of the narrative from the song with the visual footage.

I love how you captured the school-girly crush Fred had on Angel after he saved her from Pylea and her finally getting that Angel did not see her in that way.

Poor Fred. He really did sort of lead her on in the early episodes, though. Not to be mean, I think he's just clueless. Heh. Thank you, as always, for the comments. :D

Yes, it did seem like he lead her on in typical clueless male fashion.

And your welcome, as always. :-D

Feeling the same big loves on this as everyone else: The girls, the Fred, and the amazing final shot-transition. :)

Very nicely done. The swing transitions were great.

You have really done an amazing job on this IDVP project. I can't imagine doing a vid a day, and you are doing it while learning a new program. Very impressive.

Thank you. Sometimes the program-generated transitions seem like they're just so cheesy, and other times they work really well. I'm still trying to decipher which is when!

Aww, I think the Fred choice was pretty inspired for this! The swing cuts are awesome (I forgot Angel got around that much, sheesh), also showing how each of the women sort of has her own agenda with him -- even our Fred, who just wants a boyfriend. Closing shot is fantastic (of course, I am biased-girl who loves Fred anyway). Great work!

Angel totally played Fred, it was kind of sad. I'm glad you liked it, thank you!
