IDVP - Day 3
I'm worn out today and I seem to have misplaced my "I know this method works" exporting notes, so now I'm ticked off, too. I did export a file, and it's decent enough quality and pretty small, but I'm not sure you guys are going to be able to see it. Nonetheless, until I figure out my old way again, I've linked to that one here. Please let me know if it works for you. I'll edit the post when I get the other version up.

Day 3 of the IDVP brings me my first movie vid, ever. [info]poshcat suggested a Jurassic Park vid set to Guns N Roses "Welcome to the Jungle." Awesome idea.

Welcome to the Jungle (7.8 MB)

ETA: In case that doesn't work, you can try this link. Same size file, a little worse in quality though. Should run as a QT file with no problems. WTTJ. Really, though, try the top one first.

As always, right-click, Save Target As... please!

Lyrics
You know where you are?
You're in the jungle, baby
You're gonna die
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
watch it bring you to your knees, knees
in the jungle
welcome to the jungle
feel my, my, my serpentine
In the jungle
welcome to the jungle
watch it bring you to your knees, knees
in the jungle
welcome to the jungle
watch it bring you to your
it's gonna bring you down
Ha!

I'm by turns pleased and disappointed by this vidlet. I didn't do anything fancy this time around (see above: worn out & frustrated), and the original idea I had for it didn't come to pass at all, which is disappointing because it looked a lot cooler in my head. However, I like that the T-Rex is the narrator. It's like a little love story between Sam and Rex. Hee. Well, it amuses me, at least.

The first part is trying to introduce Sam's character and how he gets to the island. Then when the lyrics start up, that brings in our narrator, the T-Rex. They encounter each other over the course of the movie/vid, Sam is a hero (aw, catching the little boy!), and then T-Rex is a hero (aw - he eats the velociraptor!). They both end up alive and happy, although they are separated.

Theirloveissoprehistoric.

I'm tired. Leave me alone.

I learned one big thing today and that was how to get widescreen bars back on a shot I've zoomed. There's a Matte filter called 'widescreen' that you apply to the clip, and then (in this case) select 3 to 1 ratio and use the offset tool to center the clip better. Voila. I was extremely pleased to find that.

I only ripped source up until today, so tomorrow morning I expect to go on a source-ripping frenzy. I made a list of when I'm going to do each vid, and this afternoon I wrote down what episodes I need for my next two vids. The week after that is still wide open, though.

Actually, this is going to be a busy weekend in general. Lots of Christmas-preparation activities and we have to clean out the other half of the garage so I can finally pull my car in as well. Because OMG it's COLD up here. Highs in the *40s*. My SoCal blood runs thin.

This is a marvelous study you're doing. If I weren't neck deep into vids of a different color right now, I'd jump on this bandwagon and do vidlets too. You're learning stuff left and right, and it really shows.

It's already been tremendously educational and - most importantly for me - creatively very freeing. I think I was starting to get stuck in my own process. It's tough, but loads of fun. Thank you!

I thought it was a pretty cool vid.

That was so fun! You used a lot of my favourite scenes - I only wish it was the whole song. Not that I'm greedy or anything. Thank you very much for doing it.

Hee. I'm glad that you liked it Posh. I tried to put as much Sam in there as possible. And I know I focused almost exclusively on the T-Rex, but it's amazing all the things you're forced to leave out with only a minute available!

Is it just me, or does the T-Rex seem to be swinging the doomed lawyer around to the beat of the music? Heeee!

LOL! Go T-REX!
The alt worked for me but the fisrt one didn't. Hopefully those export problems will get resolved soon =D

Heeeheheh. Her face mirrors mine exactly. *loves* Thank you!

Also, good news: I found The Matrix. Yay! And thanks for letting me know which file worked for you. At least I know I have an option.

LOL!
You found the Matrix JUST as I figured out what else I would ask for.
LMAO!!!

YAY for finding the DVD. You kick butt!

In case the Matrix goes missing before the 14th (anything is possible), my second request is a Never Ending Story vid to The Birthday massacre's Imagica bonus track.

ROFL! That is so typical.

A Never Ending Story vid! Ack. *wavers* We'll just have to see which one turns up. ;)

Well, you know how much I adore the way you hit the beats of music with your clip choices, like the T-Rex shaking that man and also how the T-Rex chomps the other dino right near the end. I also like how you're experimenting with titles. Go you!

Thanks chickie! I love the T-Rex shaking the lawyer. I get a really sick thrill out of it being on beat. lol

I'm glad you have been sharing these projects with us. I've enjoyed watching them and reading what you learned.

I have to say that I love this one. I thought the intro was great and showed the viewer how they got to the island. I really liked the Rex shaking the lawyer to the beat, that was great. And another thing I like, but can't really explain so bear with me, is the way the clips fit the mood of the song, if you follow me.

I usually just watch Jossverse vids but this one just worked. I wanted to let you know that I was disappointed that this was one of your learning projects and not a full length vid because I loved it!

Oh, and Theirloveissoprehistoric.

Tee hee!

Sorry it took so long to get to this, I'm catching up on old comments while my Mac is broken. *kicks machine* Anyhow!

Thank you for commenting. I think this one might be my favorite right now - or at least the one that I find most re-watchable. :)

Theirloveissoprehistoric.

HEE!

Always loved this song and the movie rawks so, of course, loved the vidlet!

Not much I can add that has not already been said, the timing of the clips is tremendous! Especially the T-Rex shaking the lawyer...but so many other perfectly timed moments...like them running down the hill and into the trailer at the beginning, and T-Rex 'kissing' Sam right when he's singing welcome to the jungle, Sam landing on his ass after catching the boy right when he sings 'knees'.

Ok, so ass and knees are not the same thing but it still fit...LOL

This movie totally kicks ass. I saw it an obscene number of times in the theater and I still love it. And you know, I never thought of that scene as the T-Rex "kissing" Sam, but that's perfect and fits with their unrequited love. Thanks! :D

I never saw it as a kiss before either, until you shed the light on theirsoprehistoriclove. ;-)
