Severus Snape was being held hostage by a height-challenged man with over-large spectacles, a hyperactive toddler, and a puppy card. He should have stayed with Voldemort. At least he would be dead now.
Why should Snape suddenly become all soft and cuddly and nice only because he has children of his own? In 'Garments and Critters' Natt paints a wonderful portrait of  sarcastic Canon!Snape in the face of romantic anniversaries and cute congratulation cards. He's not happy with 'Potter' and 'the spawn'.
