Current Music: Countdown
I was watching Dan Abrams' show on MSNBC and he was discussing the Sean Bell case with civil rights lawyer Ron Kuby.
Understand that I have longer hair that likely anyone reading this....certainly any male, and maybe any female. And while I'm not the biggest geek amongst us, I can hold my own. With that in mind, an open letter to Ron Kuby.
Mr. Kuby,
Cut your hair, you damn hippie freak! Looking like you came in from 1969, you have 0 credibility. I understand free-expression and all, but by looking like, well, me, you make it so any argument you might have is lost in your appearance as the cliched liberal lawyer.
Also, while I do feel that Stan Lee is truly one of the greatest Americans ever, having created dreams for generations of children around the world, and bringing surprising depth to what is one of the few truly American art forms, quoting Spider-Man in your legal argument, again, reduces your already low credibility. The Spider-Man movies are some of the most successful films ever. Do you think "With great power comes great responsibility" isn't going to be noticed?
Finally, reducing a controversial legal decision to "It's a matter of Black, Blue, and White" ---the black victim, the blue cops, and the white legal system, you insult anyone who might have ever thought that you might be a man of intelligence and integrity. When Dan Abrams of all people slams the door on you by pointing out that cops were not all white, but were also black and hispanic. Your argument against the decision ignored any of the facts presented, but instead just focused on color. Besides dismissing truth and facts for sound bites, it makes anything you say easily dismissible.
The fight for equality is not an easy one, and the last thing needed is someone who supposedly stands in the front line disarming himself in front of any opposition. |
