Bharatiya LiveJournal Mela! Why Not?
Why do bloggers celebrate the Bharatiya Blog Mela and lj-ers don't? Isn't LJ worth a mela too? If bloggers can, so can we! But have you ever thought how a typical LiveJournal Mela would look? I envisioned it, and I thought it would be something like this.

So here's me presenting the:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

And the winners are...

1. [info]bajuwala_ladka's entry on how his ricksha driver gave him a torn Rs 10 note and the ensuing trouble Bajuwala Ladka had in getting rid of it. Economics + emotions = Great post...

2. [info]sweetsweetie's post on her fight with her mother first thing in the morning. Takes a deep perspective of the doomed mother-daughter relationship in the north-west area of Maharashtra, due to pollution and cable TV.

3. [info]cricketluvah's post on all that he did to drive away his frustration after India lost the test match against Pakistan. You must not miss the bit about him calling strange numbers in Pakistan and yelling "Oye hamara Sachin great hai..."

4. [info]mumbhai's scintillating post about his 1 hour train journey from Byculla to Dombivli and the travails of BO in a train compartment..

5. [info]itgeek's reasons of why he is still single and how to make a computer generated girl-friend who gives you valuable advice while you are programming.

6. [info]supercoolbabe's sugary post on how much she loves her boyfriend and how her boyfriend pampers her. A must read for all those who want to have a better relationship status with their sweethearts.

7. [info]meme_queen's colorful post about
a) What type of underwear she represents
b) Who she was in her past life (Adolf Hitler)
c) What she can be in her next life (Fruit Fly) and
d) Which LJ friend would kiss her if she was better looking.
Very though provoking...

8. [info]confuzedchick's profound questions about sexual preferences like "If men love women, are men lesbians?" Or "If I love myself, am I lesbian??" The open-endedness of the post (i.e the questions are somehow not answered), makes it haunting...

8. And last, but not the least, [info]sampada's private post bitching about people she would not mention, thanking some entity for her friends, and expressing relief about her brave soul. You may think it's just the same'ol, but where else would THAT win if not on her own LJ??

Happy LJing folks!!

The next LJ mela will be hosted at [info]bloggerssuck. So see you there...

Disclaimer 1: All posts and all LJ users (except one) are fictitious, any resemblance to any LJ-er dead or alive is purely intentional (otherwise what's the fun?)
Disclaimer 2: I am a pro-LJer by now and all the fun that I have poked at it above is completely out of love and understanding.

Actually it would be a good idea. Do it. Link to the great LJ pieces written by Indian Ljers or on India.

To be fair, LJ entries have never been barred from being nominated on the mela. Only "personal" posts are not allowed. Why don't people nominate good LJ posts on Blog Melas?

Most LJer's don't really check blogs mostly only friends lists. Hence don't really keep track of blog melas.

Plus there's a confusing clause somewhere that personal journal entries are not allowed.

Yes, "personal" entries of the "I went to visit John today. He's making lots of money in his new job. We had a blast in the evening, checking out all the latest clubs" type are not allowed. If someone writes more insightful stuff that is not diary-like, it will certainly be considered. Alas, LJ tends to have a fair bit of the type I described.

Ah! My favourite topic. Blogs vs. LJ. Its not even 'versus' guys! The divide is overrated.

It is not 'versus'. Who said that? If anyone thinks blogs are superior to LiveJournal then that's stupid. LiveJournal has the word 'journal' in it, so what else can you expect. And I can give plenty of examples of blogs that are journal like, so there. :)

Thats what I said. There is hardly anyone nutty enough to categorise like that. Show me one.
