All those who love Girl Scout cookies, say AYE!!!

So, my daughter is selling Girl Scout cookies. If you or anyone you know would like some Girl Scout cookies, please let me know. (I'm trying to help her reach her goal of 150 boxes sold... we're halfway there already, and her newly-formed troop could really use the money.)

For a list of the available cookie flavors, click here. (The ones on this list that we don't have are Thanks-A-Lots, Cinna-Spins, and Lemonades; everything else should still be available.)

Boxes are $3.50 each, and the money's not actually due until we deliver the cookies to you. There's also a donation program in place, so if you don't actually want any cookies, but still want to support a good cause, you can order a box to be donated either to a local shelter or to troops stationed in Afghanistan.

Thanks for your support! (My apologies for the shameless solicitation.)

(Here's some information about the Girl Scout Cookie Program, what it's all about, where the money goes, etc.)

So, LJ has announced (in [info]lj_biz, a community that very few users subscribe to!!) that they are collecting data from your entries (hits to a page, where the visitors come from, where they exit to, what browser they're using), in addition to the data they collect from public pages.

Now, the good news is that you can opt out by going to:

http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console

and entering: set opt_exclude_stats 1

If you run any communities, you can opt out the communities by entering:

set for community opt_exclude_stats 1

My car was broken into two nights ago... which didn't really phase me. Nothing broken, nothing stolen. No big deal, right.

Besides, there are things like THIS to get phased about. *cries*

Nov. 19th, 2006 @ 11:15 pm An interesting variation on the ol' "Give a man a fish" adage.
About this Entry
Skirt
"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Explain why he needs a fish, explain that you are better than anyone else at fulfilling his fish requirements, and leave him your number and the website address of get-a-fish.com. Having stimulated his need for fish, both you and the venture capitalists will believe that there is no possible way he can get a fish online without coming to you. 100,000 people sign up in the first month. Your market cap goes to $50M. Now, quickly, sell up. Whilst you weren't looking your marketing manager thought it would be a great idea to turn your fish site into an 'Online Fish Portal'. As a result, everyone who signed up in the first month has followed the link to learn-to-fish.com, and taught themselves to fish online. Your company is now worthless, but you've walked away with $10M, and you still don't even know how to fish yourself..."

And many other examples of such silliness here.

Some of you locals got my recent email; others, whose address I may not have, probably did not. Since there has been minimal response to my email, and the job is still open, I've decided to post here in the hopes that someone might take interest.

Here's the text of the email I sent out:

As most of you know, in the early fall each year I work at the Maryland Renaissance Festival in the booth of Allen ye Printmaker. This year, Allen is looking for someone new to join us in his booth as a contract worker. (This would, of course, require a commitment to work for the full run of Faire.)

I'm happy to give more information regarding hours, expectations, pay, etc. to interested parties. If you or someone you know might be interested in this opportunity, please comment here or email me directly.

Feel free to pass this email along to anyone you think might be interested.
