So I finally got to see the end of Avatar. Pretty good, the fight scene between Aang and Ozai was brilliant- the fire lord kicked a lot of ass! I wasn't expecting it since he wasn't impressive in previous confrontations. Aang was just so powerful in the end and it was great to see him realize his avatar potential :) To think he can actually take your bending away without killing you is the best way to go and I'm more impressed with this than with Katara's bloodbending, which I'm glad she didn't have to use in the finale.
Fight scene between Zuko and Azula was amazing as well...based on their duels in past episodes (Southern Raiders, Boiling Rock, etc.), I could tell that Zuko was already as good as his sister in fighting. I thought it would be a Katara-Azula duel in the finale, but I guess that an Agni Kai between brother and sister was the only way Zuko could win the throne honorably. Maybe it was also good for him. I felt a bit bad for Azula but figured that she would eventually lose it. She was just too selfish and weak...which is ironic, considering that she is probably one of the best villainesses in animation. I think her weakness stems from how she doesn't know how to love people, and in order to get them to stay with her or do what she wants, she has to scare them...I never felt that she, Mai and Ty Lee were a solid group because there was never a sense of equality in their circle. It was a good thing the two other girls left, seeing as Azula might have killed them if she saw them again. In any case, Azula would have ruined the fire nation as firelord (and subsequently, other nations too), so it's a good thing she wasn't made ruler and that she's in that asylum now. Reminds me of how that girl, Nancy, ended up like in The Craft.
Wonder what happened to Ursa though...I loved that scene where she tells Azula she loves her and Azula just loses it. In the end, despite all the ass kicking, devious spymastering and lightning bending, she was just another spoiled brat. One I felt sorry for at times.
Another tearjerking scene was when Zuko and Iroh reunited. I don't like Zuko that much, but I have to admit that he was one of those characters who grew within the episodes. I like it when characters start out as not so good and then improve in time.
Can't believe its over now, and can't wait for the episode specials and the live action movie. :)
