This is a quiet little beta site (I think it's quiet anyway....)
Here's a blurb from their site:
dotSUB is a browser based tool enabling subtitling of videos on the web into
and from any language. There is nothing to buy and nothing to download.
Recognizing the potential of global communication powered by the Internet,
the founders of dotSUB created a web-based tool that enables video to be
accessed in an open, collaborative, "wiki" type environment. The dotSUB tool
gives anyone the ability to translate video content into multiple languages
via subtitles rendered over the bottom of the video.
They have some content already. I really love the international
multi-language concept because so many captioning / subtitling sites are
geared only towards the deaf and HoH. This has the potential to reach a lot
more people (and help the deaf and HoH along the way).

I am way too addicted to my new Stumble
button. I know Stumble Upon has been around for a few years at least, but I
just started playing with it last Friday. I've rated over 50 pages already,
but haven't clicked on to anything yet today.
If anyone has a page they want me to rate and review let me know :)

"Measured Fit" is it! I can't believe that domain was available!
http://www.measuredfit.com/ - it may take some time to propagate across the
intartubes... but I can see it here already.
Things I need to fix:
It doesn't work in IE 7! Ack! Or in Safari!
Things to note:
Target is included in Amazon's search.

Don: We should get an Apple TV
Sara: I was thinking that, since we never watch anything, and never remember
to send the darn NetFlix movies back because we never watch them. This new
rental thing Apple has (announced today) for $4 and less might be perfect.
Don: Yeah, let's do it!
Sara: Oh wait. I forgot, there's no closed captioning. Let me see how
that's progressing...
Progressing? Nope, not that I can tell. iTunes has "supported" closed
captioning for months now, but I haven't seen anything with captions come
out of iTunes. Has anyone?? The last captioned internet video content I
watched was at JibJab.

I don't normally push these gimmicky web marketing things... especially when I feel like I 'fell for' their story.
This time, however... I figured why not - because it actually is very new... Launched August 22nd.
"Exit Explosion" My referral link as they have 10 levels referrals to earn more ad views...
http://www.exitexplosion.com/4980
It works like this, you add a piece of code to your site that can tell when someone is about to leave (mouse overs sense the mouse moving towards the top of the page to hit Back or type in a new address or close the browser). Then it pops up an ad on the screen. NOT a pop-up window, so not really that annoying... The ads are random - and mostly for more web marketing sites right now it looks like. For each ad your site displays (and I think they have to click on it) you get a credit and your ad is shown on other people's sites. It's really just a link exchange.
There is a pay service that gets you 1000 ad views at $15 a month, but they swear it will be limited in who can become a 'gold member' so that it's actually worth something. I might try it - there's a 2 month guarantee, and $15 is cheap for advertising, I've found. It's nice to have a business site that's making money so you can actually pay for traffic! :)
Anyway, sorry if this comes across as spammy :) it's one of those 'I wish I thought of that' ideas.

I've been swimming at the gym 3 times so far. I really am enjoying it. Much better than other cardio hamster wheels and even rowing. I swam on the team in high school - 7th through 11th grade. I haven't done any laps since then really.
So far I've been swimming about 45-60 minutes at a time while Don does weights and cardio upstairs. I got a pair of goggles last time and that really made it even more fun. The pool at ACAC downtown is 4 lanes wide with 2 of them set up with lane lines and 2 open. Usually there have been 6 or 7 people in the pool when I'm there - so you end up sharing a lane with someone. I need to remember to try to stay away from the wall. My stroke of choice is the breast stroke and I have given the ladders a painfully hard kick a couple of times.
Last time I went I was sharing the 2 open lanes with 2 other people. A guy came in and just stood on the side waiting. I headed to the ladder to grab a kick board from the equipment room and I'm pretty sure he said "are you leaving?" No hearing aids, so I'm really guessing. I said no I was just getting a kick board. He still kept standing there. So when I got back into the pool I went over to another lane where there was just one woman in there. I guess he didn't want to join her because he hopped into where I had been. He only swam about 1 lap and then got out and did all kinds of stretching on a mat next to the pool and then left. Very weird. Another guy there was wearing so much cologne I could somehow smell it over the chlorine!
I find myself trying to count the number of laps I've swum and failing miserably. I can't even keep track of the first 4. Maybe I need to swim 100s (4 lengths) or 200s (8 lengths). Thus far I'm letting myself do whatever stroke I want. Anything is better than my previous routine of nothing (or just weight training when we get to the gym). Instead of resting at the end of the pool I'm taking the kickboard for a lap now and then.
I'm a little worried about my hair, even if ACAC says their pools are more salt than chlorine. So I'm buying myself some Ultra Swim. Hurray for Amazon! It makes it really easy to find. Here are the affiliate links for me to click on as soon as I finish posting this! :)

Washington Post writer Rob Pegoraro asked people to comment on What
Windows Software you Miss on your Mac, but I have the opposite problem! After fighting with
Sony's Vegas Movie Studio 7, I really wish I had iMovie on my work PC.
I think I'm going to continue doing shock test movie captures at home.

So my TiVo FINALLY has data. I haven't been watching much TV lately, but I did add a bunch of shows from the internet programming menu. Each one, sent back a response saying that the TiVo didn't have any episodes in it's directory. Weird.
Yesterday I turned it on to find out that the last time it successfully connected to the internet was on Nov 15! And, it ran out of data on the 27th. Oops. Comcadelphia has been causing all kinds of problems lately... So I fiddled with, and reset the router and wifi and all that. A hard reset of the router got its DHCP working again (it was only accepting manual IPs before, which fixed everything except the Tivo)... but the TiVo still wouldn't connect. It stopped with the error that it couldn't get account status. I googled the problem and found it come up on forums a few times, but generally no solutions. It just fixed itself, eventually. The strange thing was, it HAD a network connection, the Test Connection option worked just fine, and I could see the live Yahoo stuff.
One guy on some forum said that he forced his ISP to give him a new IP address and that fixed it. I thought I might as well try that.
I left the router unplugged overnight, but in the morning it gave me the same IP. This afternoon I decided to try a different approach... why not see if the TiVo can connect when we bypass the router. It only has USB ports though, for wifi, and I don't have any other kind of broadband adapter. So I connected my mac to the cable modem, and then shared the connection with the TiVo wirelessly. It was a neat idea, and I read on a forum that someone got it to work with his XBox... but it didn't work here. I don't know why.
About this time I noticed that my IP from Comcadelphia was different. So I switched back to the router to try the new IP. But the router IP was still the same original one! Of course, by now I realized (and you probably would have known it last night) that the IP they assign depends on the device's MAC address... at least until they reset/expire them all. So I used the nice MAC clone thing in the router setup to make the router look like the laptop. Voila, new IP, and the TiVo connected on the first try.

*SALT LAKE CITY**, UTAH*
Salt Lake City will be hosting the 16th Winter Deaflympics in February of

I am building the couch I ordered from Home Reserve (.com). It is
definitely the most thought out, best designed, piece of
ready-to-assemble furniture I've ever bought. It's fun, in a Giant
Plywood Puzzle kind of way. It is quite a bit of work, but nothing
strenuous.
An hour and 20 minutes to get to this point... with an interruption of
at least 15 minutes from the freecyclers who want the old couch.

I should have tried to sell the Apothecary chest the previous owners of our house left behind. I posted it on cville's freecycle last night and had 21 replies. It's gone now. I'm still getting replies even though it should have been marked TAKEN.
As far as new jobs go, at least I have work to do and I'm Not reading

It's weird to think that I'm sitting here in my kitchen eating breakfast
at 7am. I used to arrive at work about now in order to beat traffic.
My commute is 20 minutes, and people actually show up Early. Which
means I need to keep moving. No sandwich to make though, I have
leftover macaroni and cheese that we made last night.
