At the recommendation of a friend a few days ago (or was it yesterday?), I don't remember who, I watched Little Miss Sunshine and I don't know what to say.
While watching it, I thought it was kinda silly with all those tragedies happening in between.
But by the end, the message was clear.
"Little Miss Sunshine shows us a world in which there's a form, a brochure, a procedure, a job title, a diet, a step-by-step program, a career path, a prize, a retirement community, to quantify, sort, categorize and process every human emotion or desire. Nothing exists that cannot be compartmentalized or turned into a self-improvement mantra about "winners and losers."
- Jim Emerson, editor for RogerEbert.com
"Little Miss Sunshine teaches us to embrace that middle ground, acknowledging that life may just be a beauty pageant, where we're often going to be outdone by someone prettier, smarter, or just plain luckier, but if we get up on that stage and be ourselves, everything will turn out fine."
- Brian Tallerico, UGO.com
Well, in my opinion, somebody's always going to be better at you in some way.
But the trick is not to think of it as a beauty pageant and come from a place of competition.
I say come from a place of creation, for then only will you just be.
No first place or last.
You just are.
Come from a place of creation and be great!
Nobody competes with Oprah cause she's Oprah!
Nobody competed with Elvis Presley because he's Elvis Presley!
Nobody competed with Michael Jackson because he's Michael Jackson!
Be yourself. Just be.
