So, I bet you hate junk mail, too, right? It's annoying. It's also unbelievably wasteful - credit card offers, crapass catalogs, all sorts of other shit, all mostly printed on unrecycled paper, much of which can't be recycled by municipal recycling centers that don't accept colored or shiny paper, all just going to landfills. Millions of tons of it, every year.
Get this, though:
1.
Catalog Choice: register for a [free] account, and you can opt out of catalogs that you no longer wish to receive in the mail.
2.
National Do Not Mail Directory: get yourself removed from ALL standard direct mailing lists.
3.
OptOut: stop sending me those goddamned pre-approved credit card offers! (Yes, they require your SSN - because many credit card companies that send you pre-approved offers have yours, and use that to track your info in their databases)
How awesome is this?
Many thanks to
Clean Air Gardening Blog for the post and the links, even though there's hardly any gardening on the gardening blog anymore (like I'm one to talk).
