Political rant.
See, a lot of the Republicans I know here in RL (and I'm not saying the ones I talk to often are representative), forever complain about how the Democrats just want to spend-spend-spend. How the Democrats want more taxes and they want to pour money into the poor and people who don't deserve it.
*Sigh*
And here are the Republicans pouring money into Iraq without an exit date, giving money to both people who have enough oil to fund their own darn army AND big corporations who are already MAKING money.
To be fair, to run a government is to spend-spend-spend. It's like criticizing a person for breathing. But I'd much rather that money be spent on on our own people than on others.

WHERE'S ALL THE BEBES!?!?!?!
The Baby Monster came to our house today.
I crawled through the living room after getting home, emitting my fearsome cry that sends all babies to flee in a cloud of giggles: "I'M HUNGRY! HUNGRY FOR BABIES!!!"
I crawled into the kids room. No babies there.
I crawled and looked into the bathroom. No babies there either..
I crawled into the bedroom where the three children in our household were holed up, wrongly thinking their mommy would save them from the Baby monster.
I checked each kid, though. Sniffed 'em and prodded 'em. Not a single friggin' baby. The eldest curled up and said "goo-goo-gah-gah" in a feeble attempt to trick the Baby monster. The Baby Monster wasn't fooled.
The Baby Monster slunk away, dejected.

We have a township here in Allegheny county called Leet.
There's an internet speak called "leetspeak" or "1337".
I never made the connection before reading that headline. Or mayhap I need to stop playing so much World of Warcraft.

The plot tinkering possibly goes into overdrive on Harry Potter....
New pics have been released for the up-and-coming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and one of those pics has a book-plot enlightening or busting image in it. These pics are MASSIVE so they're behind an LJ cut. Naturally there's a spoiler for the final Harry Potter Book.

Grumble @ Comfort Inn
We stayed in a Comfort Inn over the weekend to see my parents in Toledo. Everything was fine at the hotel. It was a little old and worn, but had clean sheets every day, good service, tasty continental breakfast (they even had a waffle iron and hard-boiled eggs!).
Upon return to Pittsburgh, I noticed I'd forgotten my cellphone charger. I called them up and told them my room number and it turned out when they find cellphone chargers they just toss them in a box. They're asking me what kind of charger I have - but my cellphone is a "Verizon" and I eventually (after the call), had to pry off the battery cover to find the model number. I tell them it's got an off oval end and a wide part that plugs into the phone.
The girl at the desk asked if I could drop by to look at them. *sigh*. If I lived in Toledo, I would have just gone over there, but if I lived in Toledo probably wouldn't have been staying at Comfort Inn!
No complaints about the actual service while I was at the Comfort Inn on Alexis in Toledo - it was a nice stay! But could they at the very least tag each thing in Lost & Found by the frickin' room number?
