05:41 pm We've been having such nice weather for the past week, it's hard to believe we're in the Maritimes.
It had been sunny and warn and feels like SUMMER!!!! It's reminded me why July is my favorite month of the year.
I woke up naturally this morning, feeling refreshed and satisfied. After spending a little while playing video games, I set out to make lunch for myself. I whipped up a creamy broccoli soup and lazed about on the balcony while it simmered.
After that, I quickly dropped in WoW to obsessively check on my auctions (MONEY!!!) and spent a few minutes to help out a friend finish a quest. I then took a beach towel and made my way to the library to try and find a fun book to read. I seem to do most of my reading in the summer, because I have to be in certain comfort zones for me to be in the mood to read. The thoroughly un-helpful library search didn't produce anything I wanted, so I just browsed through the available paperback racks displayed at the front. I found an alternate history adventure set in early 20th Century america being invaded by some yet unidentified threat from eastern Europe. So far I went through the first chapter and it seems entertaining. I shall read on!
I took my book and plopped myself in the grass under a tree of a nearby park, next to the water. Sipping a lovely iced cappuccino, I browsed through the local artsy paper and proceeded to start my book.
After a couple of lazy hours, I made my way back home and spent MORE time lazing about in the hammock, reading my book.
I'm a little bit loopy from the sun exposure and the heat, but this feels great.
I love summer! More please!! Current Mood: content

09:45 am - Prince of Persia movie news It is not a secret that I am very excited/apprehensive about the upcoming Prince of Persia movie. It is my favorite game franchise of all time (so far) and I am looking forward to seeing it on the screen.
I just hope they don't screw it up.
According to this link, the two principals have been cast.
http://persia.moviechronicles.com/
I'm kind of annoyed that while the two main characters in the game were Persian and Indian, the movie actors are blatantly caucasian. Still, I'm okay with Jake Gyllenhaal playing the Prince. It somehow fits for me. But I don't know who Gemma Arterton is and she definitly doesn't fit what I would see for Farah. But in the movie they changed the princess to Tamina, described as being "feisty and exotic". While Farah technicly was ... she was also strong, courageous and --useful--. And she could squeeze through cracks like nobody's business!! I just hope they don't turn her in the damsel in distress.
We'll see. As long as there's wall-running!

09:30 am I just saw the preview for the next Mummy movie (of which I knew nothing about until a couple of days ago) and I'm excited!
Looks like fun! I like the Mummy movies. I've never seen the Scorpion King though. I don't think this one really counted and now with a new one coming out, it's a proper trilogy.

09:55 am - Random trivia Someone told me that the It's A Small World rides in the Disney parks are being refurbished because due to increasing patron weights. The boats sink too low and get stuck on the tracks.

10:09 am - Pre-caffeine rant An irrelevant pet peeve of mine is when I see characters drawn/rendred that have the buttons/overlapping of their clothes on the wrong side for their gender.
I'm a stickler for spotting wrong little details like that.
This brought on by looking at screenshots of a new game where the guy is obvioulsy wearing a girl's shirt and jacket.
Argh!

04:09 pm I think I remember maybe ranting about it at some time in the past, but what the heck.
When did "nucular" become an accepted word?
It's pronounced "NUCLEEEEEE-AR".
The whole basic of the humour of it was because Homer worked at a NUCLEAR power plant, but couldn't say it properly. That's why it was funny.
Saying it wrong isn't right. It's WRONG!!!!!!!1111
GRRRRR!!!!

09:37 am It always makes me chuckle (and feel a little sad) when in TV shows or movies, a character is supposed to be a great artist and they show the art and it's looks like crap. But other characters look at them and say how great it looks. NO!!! It doesn't!
It usually looks like it's some inept person from the prop department that poorly scribbled a stupid drawing five minutes before the shot.
Art gets no respect, I tell ya!

10:11 am - For online comic creators ... in particular shenlo and smuu :
a really interesting podcast I found about webcomics.
Webcomics weekly.
I highly recommend it, even to non-comic-making people. Just for sheer entertainment. But they give a lot of useful tips and anecdotes.
It does get technical sometimes.
But they're hilarious!
Anyone. Go listen while you work.
GO!!!

05:20 pm Recently, I've started listening to some Gorillaz.
I like most of the ones I hear and even it even makes more hip-hoppy tunes border-line tolerable. That's a big step for me.
And I like their visuals.

12:10 pm One thing that I was glad about Crocs was that these dumbass rubber clogs are too cold for winter weather. So my chance spotting idiots wearing them in the colder wet weather were lessened.
Well, no more!

Now, you can look like a finger-giving fashion dumbass even in winter! Weeeee!
