FRIENDS ONLY, v.21
Oct. 15th, 2025 | 07:28 pm
My entries are personal a lot of the time, so unless I know you well in real life or well through the fandom, I don't see why you need to view my entries! However, there will be some entries that I'll make public.
If you'd like to be a friend of mine, comment please! Tell me who you are and why you think we'd be good friends. You can look at my interests page to see the things I like. If you friend me without commenting, I won't friend you back so you won't be able to read my entries anyway.
That being said, I really don't have any qualifications as to who gets to be my friend & who doesn't. As long as we have some things in common, you're good to go. Just a note, though - I really can't stand it when people type lIkE tHiS andthey tHink its s0 gr8.
Commenting
I'm not the world's greatest when it comes to commenting on my friend's LJs. I read the entries of my flist, but sometimes I just have nothing to say. And sometimes (because my flist is so darn big) I might just not see an entry you make at all. If there's ever any time when you make a post you really want me to comment on, link me to it & by gum, I will. :)
I can also understand if you don't comment on my journal often. As long as you comment every once in awhile, it's all good. I've only had to delete a couple of people for not commenting (and these people were those who NEVER EVER commented on my LJ).
♥ ♥ ♥
So, you still want to friend me?

Holy freaking moly. It's 6:00 in the morning and I haven't gone to bed. Stupid screenplay, keeping me up. I've been working for hours and hours on it and I only have five pages to show for it. Those five pages have to be workshopped tomorrow, so I'm glad they don't have to be perfect. But, geez, is the formatting for screenplays ridiculous or what? I still have no clue if I did it right, but I sent my prof. a frantic little email, so I'm sure everything will be okay.
My dear prof. did point me in the direction of a site that's turned out to be verreh interesting to me - http://www.simplyscripts.com. I've been reading a few, and it's been fun. I loved reading the one for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. There were some scenes in that one I would have loved to have seen. It's also fun to see what's different in the script vs. the movie. Really interesting read.
Speaking of movies, I am PUMPED for The Dark Knight. I won't be seeing it this weekend, tho (I know, for shame!). I'm going to Pittsburg instead, for a retreat that Agape's having down there. As I told my dad, I'm choosing God over Christian Bale. :) I will be seeing the movie the next weekend, tho, so I'll probably be avoiding spoilerish posts until then.
Also, omg! Speaking of spoilers! If you haven't seen it, you guys need to watch this season 3 promo thingy for Heroes. Those last couple of seconds! My prayers have been answered! Ohhhh, I have high hopes for this season. Please, please don't suck as much as season 2.
*looks at clock* Ho ho, it's now 7:00 in the morning. There's literally no motivation to fall asleep - I have to go to class in two hours. *eyeroll*

Cramps, Screenplays, Movies & Edward Norton

music: My lolz
Ugh, I'm glad today's over.
Throughout most of it, I had these KILLER cramps, plus nausea and all that jazz because of, well, because I'm a woman. I doubt I need to clarify. I seriously felt like I was going to die, I was in that much pain. And I was so pissed because I had a lot of stuff planned for today - I don't have class on Fridays, so I've decided to label Fridays as my homework day.
I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but at around 6:00 or so tonight, I started outlining the screenplay for Lombardo's Law. I outlined the whole freaking thing (took me about four hours, ha). But now I'm really, really excited to start writing it. I would love to start tomorrow night, but I'm going to King's Dominion tomorrow, so I might be too tired. Maybe Sunday after church.
I also ordered a lot of movies online. Barnes & Noble is having this $9.99 sale on lots of flicks, and I haven't bought a movie in so long (yes, I consider a month "so long"). Plus, I just couldn't resist that sale, y'know. But anywho, I ordered the following, all of them $9.99 or cheaper : Merlin (the miniseries with Sam Neill), I Love You to Death (Kevin Kline and River Phoenix), Forever Young (Mel Gibson and a very young Elijah Wood), American History X (Edward Norton and Edward Furlong), The Fugitive (Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones), Double Jeopardy (Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones), and The Client (Brad Renfro, Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones). Typing all that out made me realized how much I ♥ Tommy Lee Jones. I wanted to buy The Usual Suspects, but that cost around $20, so I didn't get it. Ah, well.
Ohhhhhhh. Watch this video, ya'll. It made me laugh so hard. Edward Norton with Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel. I particularly love his comment to Guillermo as Hulk - "Wall-E could kick your ass." And the one where he's all, "Want your face on the curb?" OMG.
I ♥ you, Edward Norton. And I now have the icons to prove it. ;).

I'm a big old mix of emotions at the moment.
I am incredibly happy because my class is going so well. We finished Chinatown, which was quite an intriguing film, and today we started The Grapes of Wrath.
Tomorrow we're going to take the scene where Ma Joad is looking through the box of photographs and other family things just before they leave to go to California, and rewrite it. Our professor gave us the passage from the book, and after we've seen the rest of the movie, we're supposed to rewrite the scene to make Ma Joad a "stronger" character, like she was in the book.
I got my copy of Lombardo's Law sent to me in the mail today (thank you, mommy!), so I'm going to start outlining ideas and stuff for the script tomorrow. Thanks to everybody who voted in my poll. :) I asked my prof. if we're supposed to write an entire screenplay or just part of one, and he said he just wants sixty pages (a lot of screenplays are around 120 pages long, apparently). He said we can write the beginning, the end, skip around to scenes we like, whatever, but advised that the middle part of a movie is always the hardest to write. Still, I think I'm going to go on ahead with this thing. I'll finish it out over the rest of the summer.
My other emotion at the moment is rather undefined, because it's sad and anxious and shocked all at the same time. I just finished watching American History X, and that's why I feel this way. My God. What a terrifying, beautiful film. It's very rare that I find films that touch me on such a level, to the point where I tremble and cry my eyes out, and can't stop thinking about it afterwards. It is an AMAZING film that touches on racism in such a realistic way. A lot of the film was hard to take, but I couldn't tear my eyes away. It was so compelling, so touching on so many levels. Edward Norton and Edward Furlong give phenomenal performances. If you haven't seen this movie, I would highly, highly recommend it.
I really, REALLY need an Edward Norton icon.

AFI Movie List & a Meme
Jun. 18th, 2008 | 03:48 pm
location: desk
music: Acceptance; "So Contagious"
So, being the movie freak I am, you guys probably know what I was doing last night. Watching AFI's Top 10 Movies of the Top 10 American Movie Genres. Let me tell you, I had so much fun watching that three hour long show! I was a little weary with all the commercials, tho, gotta say.
( Here's the list! )
And now, for a meme that seems to be making its away across my flist.
You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.
Please copy my response below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-word answers seldom help anyone out. :)
1. First Name: Natalie
2. Age: 19. I'll be 20 in December and then proceed to have a mental breakdown.
3. Location: PG County, Maryland, good ol' USA.
4. Occupation: Kenette Dealer at Jaycees, CC Desk Worker at Towson University. It amazes me how I went from having no job to having two jobs so quickly.
5. Partner: None. It's funny, 'cause this question reminds me of a conversation I had with my stepmom the other day -
HER: *looking at me* Don't you have any other pants?
ME: *looking down at my too-big jeans* All my clothes are too small or too big.
HER: Why?
ME: Because I went to college and became a fat-ass and I don't have the money to go buy new clothes.
HER: Well, maybe when you do, you should go shopping. Because you look -
ME: Like a boy, I know.
HER: *smiling* Yeah, a little. Can't look like a boy if you want to get a boyfriend.
ME: Yeah, 'cause that's my number one goal in life.
HER: *shakes head*
Sometimes she reminds me so much of my mother, LOL. Anywho.
6. Kids: None, of course. But I've come to the conclusion that I'll be one of three people when I get older. I could be one of those women who is single and adopts, then finds ~true love~ when I'm in my sixties. I could get married and have one or two tykes, or I could get married and have a bunch of them. Lots of kids are kind of a trend in my family.
7. Brothers/Sisters: I have five. Two step-brothers, Justin and Gunther - 19 and 17. Two half-sisters, Ashley and Christie - 12 (almost 13!) and 11. And one half-brother, Charlie, who's 10.
8. Pets: Two dogs (Jack and Buddy), a turtle (Link), three fish (who are, sadly, nameless), a bird (Pecker)... and my brothers have three snakes, Miller, Gunny, Jr., and Samuel.
9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
- Summer Training with Agape. Lately God and I have been struggling a little, but that's my fault, of course, not His, and I'm trying to connect with Him again. That's the biggest thing going on.
- My job? I'm officially a dealer now, so that's a good thing.
- Preparing for my summer class, which starts July 7. Very, very happy about that.
- My fanfic, What's In a Kiss. Chapter 4 has been posted HERE, btw.
- Just hanging with my family. :)
10. Where and for what did you go to school for?: I go to school at Towson University. This fall I'll be a Junior, which is mind blowing. I was explaining to Ashley the other day that getting older is so weird. When I was her age, I only had a few memories and they felt like they were from such a long time ago. Now all of my memories feel like they were just yesterday. I still feel like I'm 14 years old most of the time. Anyway, I'm majoring in English with a concentration in Creative Writing, and minoring in Electronic Media & Film.
11. Parents: Mom, Dad, Ms. Beth. Love 'em all to death and I don't think I'd be the person I am today if I hadn't had all three of them with me.
12. Who are some of your closest friends?: Hmm, sometimes it's so hard to define who's a friend and who isn't, you know?
But I'd probably say that my closest friend from HS is Kris, who I haven't talked to lately. I miss her and all, but sometimes I think she doesn't want to be bothered by my phone calls. Jennifer is probably my closest friend at school, but she hasn't answered my calls either. Being pregnant = busy, I guess. I love all my other girls at college to death, tho - Monica, Madeline, Alex, and Emily. :) And Terry is also a very good friend, but she's probably closer to a mentor.
Okies, I'm done! :)

You maaaaaake me feeeeel so beautifuuuuul
Jun. 13th, 2008 | 02:14 am
location: Kitchen Table
mood:
sleepy
music: Faith Hill; "Beautiful"
Hello, dear friends of mine. I come before you to make a delicious fandom-esque entry. Love me for it, ya'll. ;)
Okies. First things first, my dahlings. The third chapter of my Narnia fic, What's In a Kiss has been posted. Focused on Peter and Susan, 'cause you know them I love them. Not incestuous at all, though some reviews have said it's seeping through. I just can't seem to get away from it, can I? *headdesk* Anywho, chapter three might be found HERE if you're interest has been piqued. I'm actually quite proud of this one so far - my first ever chaptered Narnia fic. Maybe this time I'll actually finish it. *feels so bad about Destined*
Secondly. This is not fandom-esque, but I found it hilarious all the same. This lady has been calling my house every day for the past week and half, asking to speak with my sister Christie. Every day Christie is out, so that's what I relay to the woman. At the same time, I start to get creeped out a little at the fact that some random lady keeps calling her. Today, I couldn't help myself.
RANDOM LADY: Hello, can I speak to Christina Griffin?
ME: Sure. But first may I ask what this is in reference to?
RANDOM LADY: She has requested some information. May I speak to her, please?
ME: What kind of information?
(This is where it gets good, you guys.)
RANDOM LADY: That's none of your business, nosy Rosy.
ME: *thinking OMGWHATDIDSHEJUSTSAYTOME* Um, excuse me. The 11-year-old that so wish to speak with so much is my little sister, so everything about her is my business.
RANDOM: I wasn't aware that she was 11-years-old.
ME: So, you wanna tell me about this information she ~requested~?
RANDOM LADY: Your sister went to our website and asked for information about starting her own home business. I suggest you monitor her internet activities more closely.
ME: I'm her sister, not her mother. But thank you for the advice. *hangs up*
I mean, GEEZ. I'm normally a nice person to these annoying people who call the house, but calling me nosy Rosy? What is that about? And her snooty tone was not appreciated.
I called Christie downstairs a couple minutes later and she had no idea what I was talking. She actually burst into tears and was all, "I wish these people would stop calling me! I didn't do anything!" I told her she probably didn't realize what she was doing, but probably clicked some button by accident. Silly little one. :)
Now. Back to the fandom-ness. I saw two brilliant movies this week. I absolutely ♥ed them. The first one I watched was All the Little Animals with my bb Christian Bale. Christie wanted to watch a movie and I figured that even though this one was rated R, I'd let her see it. I generally tend to view the R movies before I let my siblings watch them, just to see if they can handle it, but I didn't with this one.
I figured that a) a movie with a cute title couldn't be that bad, and b) no should be denied The Bale. Besides, my sisters love the guy (I influence these girls waaaaay too much). Ever since my Bale admiration began, I've been trying to get them to watch a lot of his movies. So far, I've exposed them to Little Women (which Ashley loves), Newsies (which Christie loves), and Batman Begins (well, I've exposed Ashley; Christie doesn't like action flicks too much). Eventually, I'll get them to watch Equilibrium and 3:10 to Yuma. I would let them see Rescue Dawn and The New World, but I know they'd be bored by those. And they definitely wouldn't understand The Prestige.
A lot of his movies are innapropriate for them, though, which is sad. I don't think I would ever let them see Velvet Goldmine or American Psycho, even though Christie has actually expressed an interest in seeing the latter. I told her she was still too young for that one, but to compromise I showed her the business card scene. Which she loved. So, yeah, maybe in a few years.
Ms. Beth would kill me if she knew some of the movies I've let her kids watch. I remember when I tried to show them Dirty Dancing and she freaked because of the whole abortion plotline. I tried to tell her that I saw the movie when I was like six and didn't get that scene at all, just thought Penny was sick, but she was so pissed. If she knew that those girls have seen Braveheart and Leon: The Professional, she'd flip her shit. Ah, well. What she doesn't know won't hurt her.
ANYWAY. Movie reviews. Spoilers (though not too bad) and pics below the cut (and in addition to Christian Bale, there is Ryan Gosling)!
( Have I enticed you? )
And now... for another spoiler (Heroes related) and a spoilerish pic (Half-Blood Prince related)...
( Click! )
And... I'm off to bed. Am exhausted from typing all that out.

Movie Meme!

location: armchair
mood:
bouncy
music: The Temptations; "My Girl"
Gacked this movie meme from
shirehobbit2002! Can't resist movie memes, because they're just made of awesome. ♥
1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times. There's a lot of these, but the first one that comes to my mind is Braveheart. I first saw it when I was 7, and have watched it sooooo many times since then. I couldn't even begin to count how many times.
2. Name a movie that you've seen multiple times in the theater. I see a lot of movies multiple times in the theater... the Harry Potter movies probably have racked up the most times watched in a theater, tho, especially Prisoner of Azkaban, which I saw at least five times.
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie. Christian Bale.
4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie. I'll pretty much see anything, no matter who's in it. Paris Hilton jumps to mind, but I don't consider her an ~actress~. But I did watch House of Wax, which was surprisingly good. Hmm.
5. Name a movie that you can and do quote from. Oh, my. I don't really quote from movies anymore, tho I used to quote Harry Potter like a mofo. My British accent was terrible, so I'm sorry for all of those who had to endure it. I also like saying certain lines from Braveheart, like "Burn it" or "I love ya, always have." My Scottish accent is also horrible.
6. Name a movie musical that you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs. Newsies. Or Sound of Music.
7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with. The Lion King. "Oh, I just can't waaaaiiiittttt... to be King!"
8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see. Oh, geez. Um. Stand By Me. I don't think you can go wrong there. I haven't met one person who's seen it who hasn't liked it. A couple days ago my 17 year old brother stole it from me and watched it, and he loved it. :)
9. Name a movie that you own. Uhhh. The Other Sister.
10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting skills. Ummm, Jamie Foxx? Didn't he start out as a comedian?
11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what? No, but I would love to.
12. Ever made out in a movie? If I'm paying to watch a movie, I'm gonna actually watch it. So, no.
13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven't yet got around to it. I want to see Taxi Driver soooooo bad. Like, REALLY bad.
14. Ever walked out of a movie? If I'm payin', I'm stayin'. Tho, the first time I saw Titanic, I had to be taken out of the theater. I was 10 when it came out, so I was at an age where my mom still saw fit to cover my eyes when bad things happened. When the little boy was reunited with his father and they both drowned, she made me put my head in her lap and I started sobbing uncontrollably. So I had to be taken outside. When I came back in, I cried throughout the rest of the movie, but I was quiet about it. Until Jack died.
15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater. Ha, a lot of movies make me cry. Titanic was probably my most memorable crying experience, but I also remember crying at Troy when Achilles died (I still cry, btw) and Goblet of Fire when Cedric died.
16. Popcorn? Sometimes, if I have money. The buckets of popcorn are so darn big that I feel overwhelmed if I have to eat it all.
17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)? Heh, less often than I used to. I have no money nowadays. But I make exceptions for movies that I feel are "theater movies", where you can't not watch them on the bigscreen.
18. What's the last movie you saw in the theater? Prince Caspian, with my mom. Some stupid lady brought her baby and would have ruined my moviegoing experience had I not already seen it with friends.
19. What's your favorite/preferred genre of movie? Oh, anything. I'm not too big on the horror or sci-fi genres, tho. Most romantic comedies I don't like either, because they're not original anymore.
20. What's the first movie you remember seeing in the theater? Hmm. I vaguely remember Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. I was around 3 years old and can remember my mom asking the ticket guy if I would be alright seeing it. He just shook his head. :)
21. What movie do you wish you had never seen? Closer. God, I hated that movie.
22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed? Probably Idle Hands. Devon Sawa. His killer hand. I was high when I saw it, so yeah. Velvet Goldmine could also be classified as "weird", but I liked it.
23. What is the scariest movie you've seen? Hmm. I'm not scared by horror films, for the most part. But I remember seeing a couple parts in The Shining when I was little and supposed to be asleep. The skeleton in the bathtub and the whole "redrum" business scared the crap out of me.
24. What is the funniest movie you've seen? There are a couple movies that just crack me up every time I watch. I loved The Pink Panther with Steve Martin. American Psycho is funny, too. Most recently I saw I Love You to Death, which I thought was hilarious in its odd, quirky way.

Hiatus, Vids!

cranky

So, I wish I had time to post about the past couple eps of Lost, but I don't. Maybe when the season's officially over and I'm relaxing at home, I'll have time.
As for now, I've decided to take a break from the internet, especially now that it's finals time, which = crunch time. I just have so many papers to do, so much studying, etc. that it's not beneficial to be on the net all the time. Plus, my whole right arm has been in utter pain for the past week because of the damn computer, so I need to put a stop to this. I'm restricting myself to doing only schoolwork on the comp for the next couple of weeks, with maybe the occasional LJ entry ('cause I may need to vent, and I ♥ it on here), but nothing else. I'm a bit sad about it, but at the same time, I need to heal. My wrist needs to stop hurting. GAH. So, hiatus.
Oh. My Windows Movie Maker finally started working again, so I have a couple vids to post. The first one is a Heroes vid about Claire with the song "Hands" by Jewel, which I made before season 2. The second is a Lost vid about Jack/Kate to the song "Guardian Angel" by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus which I made a few days ago (and really, really shouldn't have). I hope you guys like them!
( Vids thisaway! )
Mkay, talk to you guys later! <333

I've ranked Star Wars...and other stuff
Apr. 6th, 2008 | 10:56 pm
location: bed
mood:
contemplative
music: Sugarcult; "Counting Stars"
Life has been so busy! This past week/weekend feels like it's been a month.
Ahhh, some random things...
a. I got back the grade on one of my English midterms! I got a 91%! Yay! :) Also got back the grade for my Physics exam, which wasn't so good. That was a 65%, but it was 11 points higher than what I did on the last one, and it was higher than the class average, so I don't feel too bad about it.
b. I worked out. Ran for a bit, pumped some iron, you know. I don't feel that sore either, which is a good thing. My challenge is going to be finding time to work out during the week, when I'm the busiest. I should probably do it in the mornings, but that means I'll have to wake up even earlier. Lord, give me strength.
c. I finished up my Star Wars marathon. Words cannot express my love for that series, yes, even the prequels, which I think get a lot of unnecessary hate. Anakin Skywalker is, like, the most tragic character ever. I still bawl like a baby during Revenge of the Sith, btw, which I found out tonight. Also, I think I've finally ranked the movies. It's taken me long enough to do. Least to greatest:
6 - The Phantom Menace
5 - A New Hope
4 - Attack of the Clones
3 - Return of the Jedi
2 - Revenge of the Sith
1 - Empire Strikes Back
Alright, I'm prepared for the OMGWTF comments for not having A New Hope up higher.
I feel like making an Anakin/Padme picspam, like I used to do way back when. Awww.
d. Apparently Charlton Heston died last night. :/ I am so glad he lived a long, happy life, but it's so sad to see another icon gone. Watching The Ten Commandments on TV on Easter has been a longstanding tradition in my family (who isn't even that religious), and I love the movie Ben-Hur. I also rememeber when he guest-starred on Friends - he was hialarious! My mom is going to be devastated when she finds out. So sad.

Aches, Tears & Tests
Mar. 29th, 2008 | 05:49 pm
location: desk
mood:
tired
music: Bryan Adams & Barbara Streisand; "I Finally Found Someone"
Ohhhh, I ache all over. Just spent the past three and a half hours playing volleyball and soccer. I haven't actually exercised since the summer, and I am in pain. My chest feels so raw; it's quite similar to the feeling of smoking three packs of cigarettes in a row. But the good thing is that I've jumpstarted in a way, so I can continue to exercise every couple of days or so. Yay.
So glad this week is over. I had a midterm in my Ethnic Lit class, which I'm glad is out of the way. Been waking up early (around 6:00 or so), and going to bed before midnight, except for Wednesday night, when Katelyn went to McDonalds. I had to stay up and wait for her to bring me a cheeseburger home and decided to watch Empire Strikes Back. Katelyn didn't actually get home until about 1:00 or so in the morning, at which time I ate my cheeseburger and burst into tears when Han Solo was frozen in carbonite. :o
So the next day it was a bit hard to get out of bed. I've been trying to study this weekend, 'cause I have two exams next week (one English, one Physics), so we'll see how the going to bed early, waking up early thing goes now. :)
Also, new layout!
And, just because I can, a picture. :)

Meme answers, Stop-Loss
Mar. 28th, 2008 | 11:15 am
location: desk
music: "Our Father"
Okay, so here's my answers for this meme. :)
( Thoughts on yaoi. Or political leanings. Whichever is easier for you. )
( What's the last nonfiction book you read because you wanted to (rather than class), and what did you think of it? )
( How about where you would like to travel? )
I went to go see an advanced screening of Stop-Loss last night. It's about the stop-loss policy the government has been using in Iraq (and has used in previous wars), where a soldier's enlistment contract is extended beyond the regular term of duty. Ryan Phillipe's character is stop-lossed in this film, and he decides to fight against it, because he's sick of seeing his friends die around him.
I actually really enjoyed the film. It's the first one I've seen that's dealt with the conflict in Iraq, and I was skeptical going in, but the fact that only the first 20 minutes of the movie are spent in Iraq, I liked it a lot more. The focus was really on the characters and how they've been affected by the war, and how their families are affected by their new attitudes. I shed a few tears at some parts, I have to admit. Good flick.
