The Life and Times of Rohanna - Addendum

My cell phone apparently decided to go walkabout to the laundry yesterday. I currently have 2 forms of available telephony until I am released, my room phone 816-691-1860 (landline) and Skype (rohanna1).

I am getting really tired of this s^%t.

The Life and Times of Rohanna - Part 4

And now back to your regularly scheduled program........

I had an appointment with my Oncologist last Friday. As expected, I am no longer eligible for the short form radiation therapy. Instead I will be doing one eight week round of chemotherapy and one five week round of radiation. The doctor wanted to start in two weeks but that was the Friday of ConQuesT so I asked for and got a reprieve until the Friday AFTER ConQuesT.

Of course, this means I get to spend a miserable summer but that it will all be over by the end of August, pleeeeeeeeease?!

stay tuned for fun with hair color later this summer!!!!

The Life and Times of Rohanna - Part 3

Last night, I had emergency surgery to remove a large hematoma from that pesky left breast and I feel much better. The doctor was here this morning and indicated that I shall not be released until the swelling and redness has subsided to his satisfaction. The cultures won't be back until tomorrow so I am getting a general antibiotic now. This means I am here at least until tomorrow when the labs are back. At that time I will be put on a targeted antibiotic. If the redness is down to the Doctor's standards, I can go home with the antibiotic. If not (which he expects), I stay. So, I could be here for a few days.

I will keep you posted. I have email and phone access, if you want to talk to me.

Cancer Update

As is the case in most of life’s challenges, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that the surgery went very well. I feel good and have had no pain. The bad news is that the cancer showed up in the Sentinel Lymph Node. They had to remove all the nodes under my left arm.

Now we wait some more. The worst part of the whole thing is the hurry up and wait thing. It will be another couple of days before I know the results of the pathology report. Then we march on to Alternate Plan B whatever that turns out to be.

In the meantime, life marches on. As soon as I have information I will research and devise a plan to beat this thing. It can be done and it will be done. And, who knows, maybe I will get to have fun with wigs along the way.

I Danced!!!

I did my first FULL dance practice since my surgery this morning. 2 full hours and I didn't run out of gas until the last 20 minutes. Fortunately, by that time everyone else was tired too so we slowed down.

I learned 2 of the new dances Clanna Eireanne does now and we worked on updating one of our old dances.

I am a very happy dancer right now.

Copious Free Time

Since a worry about this showed up in 2 comments on my other post, I will address it here.

This is voluntary free time. My employment is quite intact.

I have been working all day and then coming home and working on a Worldcon Bid all evening and on weekends for 6 years. With no bid anymore, I perceive myself as having copious free time. I am kind of looking for a part time job to fill in some time (and earn some extra money to pay the bills).

BTW, the soccer game was a hoot...a bunch of 5 year olds running around trying to kick the ball.

More later.

I can haz Do-Over?

As cheesy philosophers say, this is the first day of the rest of my life.

I am starting over on my journaling.

With my recently acquired copious free time, I have decided to see some of the things I have missed over the years.

For instance, Dr. Paisley and I are going to one of my granddaughter's soccer games this afternoon. We have seen my grandson play but haven't seen Lauren play yet. It should be fun.
