6:56PM - big risk time

so i've been pretty unhappy for awhile.. and i think i'm going to try something drastic to change that. don't worry its not self-inflicting, though it might mean blowing up all my savings in a year.
i'm goign to cancel my re-application for my current job, which means i will be unemployed in one week.
hopefully i qualify for EI, but if not i have savings.
Then in January i go to school, either the MA, or one of Ryerson publishing certificate or arts admin from humber college.
i just find most of the jobs i find interesting are ones that i dont' get callbacks for because they require "arts admin" training/experience. doesn't matter if i'm perfectly qualified except for that piece of paper.
i also really hate my job. so much that i might write up a huge rant on a few thoughts of mine on the working condition. super left wing irrational rants here we go.
maaaaaaaaybe.
ive been in a rut, doing things i dont' necessarily want to do because they paid well or i coudlnt think of anythign better to do.
no more.
it should be intersting.
anyways. if peopel have leads on pt jobs in toronto let me know.
i might be on the lookout.
furthermore,
i am relievesd to find out that getting wisdom teeth out *only* costs 900$ considering i have no ceoverage and soon possibly no income.
SWEET

2:30PM - quitting smoking

so how do you deal with the mental part? i'm 6 weeks gone and it seems like now i'm craving a cigarette more and more. mucuh more than after i had recently quit too. seriously any suggestions?

it's funny i feel sooooo quick to anger since i quit. one of my roomates said it wasnt' that i was moody just more erratic. isn't that shit supposed to be done after withdrawal?
so i've realized i haven't ever done any of the other parts of my musical autobiography... i' sure all the old links i posted are complately usless. i'm not sure i want to redo those. anyways. im also plannign on updating the dream log too.

not much else new.

7:01PM - stuff

too mm uch time has passed for me to recap. i just dont' feel like it often
ive been going crazy goign to see king khan & his shrines the 3 night stand for nxne. now doubling the amount of shows i've seen at that shitty event (i saw mooney suzki and maaow at the first one and some other show once a few years ago).
cpc gangbangs didn't bring drums with them so they're using my drums tonight to play some vice party.

also new york people...
i am plannign on being in NYC over june 30-july 3rd for massive kickball tournament.
i kinda need a place to play. preferably near brooklyn.
leads would be cool

2:23AM - fuck boozecans

if i can hear your shitty band playing for an hour and a half clearly through my window and i'm 100 feet away you're going to get shut down really fucking fast. which can't happen soon enough. its' also really really dumb to have a boozecan in a residential neighbourhood if bands are playing and soundproofing isn't taken care of.

10:19AM - long time no update

i've been sick all week zoning out at work with a fever and yesterday i had a massive migraine from about 10am on and i had to play a show.
last night went pretty damn well considering how shitty i felt - it was a return to the good old days of sloppy but energetic shows - only better because the songs are better and we play better. lots of people showed up too which was alittle surprising because it was looking pretty dead for awhile. early on we were watchign these crazy tcheck cartoons- pirate pirate and teh minstrel. the minstrel was stop motion and had some of the most beatufiul/fucked up imagery i've seen. the waves were fuckign insane and hypnotic totally real and unreal at the same time. i cleared out almost right away after the set ended so i could get rid of my headache (and as of now mission successful i haven't felt this good all week!). the cabbie was possibly the best one ever in a different way than car #4. this dude actually knew what show i'd been playing and had heard my band and a few others in town. he knew what garage is... mentioned 13th floor elevators and some nugget-y shite. he also helped me unload all my gear in the rain. that makes him ultra cool considering my many experiences with cabbies driving off as soon as they see me bring my drums to load up.

i've been meaning to post an update on my ottawa trip from my birthday. my memory ain't what itused to be so this'll be shorter than it wouldve been back in tha day. pretty much most of the trip was a blast. the only lows being slight indigestion from my attempted tofu/lettuce wraps on the sunday night and my wonderful host getting sick and feeling all yuck on monday morning.there's only so much that can be done.
some of the highlights include the norval morrisseau exhibit - i wasn't let down after that bio i saw on cbc earlier this year. the colours were intesne too. there was dinners and drinking. and my host being all wasted and trying to follow confessions of a dangerous mind -"i've seen this! i totally konw this movie, i konw what happens next.... i've never seen this movie before." also thank you for smoking was hilarious. we both felt weird lighting pu right after leaving the theatre. suckers i guess. also lots of fun was the nature museum around the corner- half of the museum was closed for renovations (until 2009!) but what was tehre was cool enough. the best part was the video we watched "devious defences" some show on animals natural defenses by the BBC. there was some flounder that had camouflaging abilities and could imitate a black and white checkboard pattern- CRAZY. i also particularly enjoyed the scene with the toad freaking out on the garden hose it thought was a snake - it started hissing then jumped on it and chewed ferociously.

that weekend i also had brunch with my cousin hilary who lived around the corner dfrom my host. it's the first time we've hung out EVER outside of family functions and it was totally a blast. we had lots of fun. it's nice to get to konw extended family in a way that isn't related to seeing them for birthdays/holidays with all the stress and arguing and BS.

i'm sure there's stuff i'm forgetting.

heads up New york people (specifically brooklyn). there's a good chance i will be in town the weekend before july 4th for the toronto/brooklyn kickball tournament saturday/sunday. also my band is triyng to ook up a show for that weekend too. you should come out and cheer for us short short wears.
-KB... i hope to meet up with you and buy some of your wares at some point. i'll browse your etsy and send you mail once i konw for sure i'm coming.

9:56PM - today was a productive day at work

and.. big deal?
i spent most of it writing emails and gettin invited to ottawa for my birthday weekend to eat home made vegan cadbury cream eggs and forcibly go on an easter egg hunt.
sweet deal that.
while walking home from work i had just started to cross the street when some girl on a bike fell into the middle of the road. i'm not sure if she fell on streecar tracks while tryin ot turn or whatever.. but some young business turk type ran into the middle fo the road and helped her and her bike up before she got hit by a car. a real heeroo.
i was all excited because i got an email from wired magazine askign about my video blog metioning something about an article. i emailed back and got a nice "thanks we'll let you konw if we need any additional information" response. looks like i'll be lucky to get a mention. even though i've hardly posted jack since i started my new job, i'm still one of only a handful of peopel posting live footage of indie bands online.
whatever.

3:14PM - childhood dreaming +angora bunnies.

my mom called me this morning telling me she found a whole bunch of dreams i told her from when i was abotu 4-5 years old. apparently she wrote them down. i'm getting a copy of them soon. thne i'll be postin them and archiving them in my memories like the other dreams. soon i'll have an almost life-long document of my dreams.
kinda cool, kinda freaky.
it reminded me of probably the first dream i can remember which is older than these ones - though i don't really know how old.
when i was about 2 or 3 i had a stuffed lamb ( in total i had 7 but i used to lose them or wear them out by picking at the loose fluff until the holes couldn't be patched up and they had to be replaced) and i lost it in my french grandpa's rabbit hutch. he used to breed these angora rabbits and i think killed them. i'm not sure what for really. it's kinda hazy. anyways i dropped my lamb in the hutch and i was scared abotu reaching in and taking it back because the bunnies had red eyes and they would bite me. this is all the real prelude to the dream which is kinda not that interestin because i dont' remember much. what i do remember is this:
the house where i grew up was being overrun by these sinister red-eyed angora bunnies. it was terrifying. first tehy were in teh garden, then they got in the house.
i'm glad i'm not still scared of angora bunnies.

so i've debating for a while whether to post the exciting revelation that everytime i look at my earphones to find out which one goes in which ear.. and everytime it's the left one and now today it's been the right one twice. this hasn't happened since december when i bought these shitty new earphones. over hundresds of examinations.
i'm busy translating this week so my mind is fried.

8:12PM - ottawa update

so i got back from ottawa last night. to sum it all up "fun despite trying circumstances"
in short form
i'm not goign to list the napping & tv watching because there was lots of it- too much to remember.
FRI-long busride 11:30-4:15 walk to friend's house - we walked around tons before trying to find a place to eat after stoppign by friend's work to find it closed. coudln't find anything so walked back to her place. sometim i got badly on the finger by bird. cry like baby then bandage it and get better. this was despite tryin to feed it fresh mango in order to befriend it. here is the handsome devil.

hours later take a bus ride to get roti. this is with the one and future roomie who is loud but fun withotu beign obnoxious. good food but wait is looooooong we is all famished and drink wine. go back to appartment & drink screwdriver then go drop in on friends of friend's friend. they are jamming radio friendly songs i dont' konw. they aren't bad but i really dont' like hanging around a roomful of dudes who have been drinkin and are all playing accoustic guitars. especially when i first meet them. make excuses leave and pass out.
SAT-go out for brunch, miss st patrick's day parade. see lots of stupid jester hats.
-make mango stirfry. dont' realize i'm using sticky rice. over cook rice because pan keeps boiling over (and i'm continuously takin pot off the stove and turning heat on and off). realize mango isn't ripe. still tastes ok (and apparently better as leftover today). go see the movie cache. which is really long but not noticeably so. really intense with an infuriating ending that doesnt' really resolve anything satisfactorily. good though. also i realised taht brenda from 6ft under looks a lot like juliette binoche does now.. facially. decide to go to zaphod's because once and future roomie is going there withi other peopel later. we drink 3 drinks in a hurry and leave when it is clear nobody else is coming. minorly drunk. try to watch march fo the penguins.. stomach decides to get sick on me and so i puke lots and sleep only 2 hours.
sunday
dont' eat until late because people are comign to see freinds' apt. so cleanign is done then we vacate for coffee and food maybe? i forget. i drank much liquids and had leftover veggie roti.
go back and finish watchign march of the penguins. go for pita pit. leave.
long bus ride home..this time with movies (mr jordan -remade sometim in teh last 10 yaers with chris rock as a comedian who has his soul taken too soon by eugene levy and gets to make good in an old white man's body) and spiderman. busses go by faster when you can watch movies.
edit: so while it may seem i had a bad time - not so. i am good at complaining and i mostly mentioned eitehr very brief recaps of stuff or little things that irritated me.
fun memories from trip:
-my host interacting with her birds- especially the handsome devil.
-seeing gorgeous lavender finches (much prettier than what's behind the link).. at a petstore (too bad).
-generally relaxing
-HUGE saturday breakfast. especially the fruit plate and the garden salad.
-findin vintage clothign store after brunch and finding a cool shirt that didnt' fit me (too big instead of the usual too small) and a cool tie which i did buy.
-going to the bytowne for the first time and seeing an interestin movie.
- seein parts of ottawa i didn't konw or remember. and feelign confident that i will be better equipped to wander around on my own if need be another time
-going to zaphod's. this is a total +/- case
-surprisingly, not being online except for 2 minutes to check email.

8:20PM - 32 alarm fire

today was the first time i had to deal with a REAL fire alarm. every couple of weeks or so we get an alarm, and someone comes on the building PA and says "please remain calm. building staff are investigating. do not use the elevators." then 5 minutes later we get anotehr message giving the all-clear. today the alrm was beeping twice as fast... and one coworker said " that's the evacuataion alarm". i was a little nervous because i wasn't quite sure where teh stairs were... and i'm on the 32nd floor of my building. i followed one coworker, and thankfully we grabbed the "little-used" stairwell (seriosuly 10 peopel took the stairwell we were in and abotu 100 people took the other one). it took abotu 5 minutes to get downstairs but it seemed really long. by the tim we got outside the firetrucks were pullin away and people basically just went back inside. we had no meeting place instructions or anything.
going down 32 flights of stairs is tough - my calves were sore. so sore that my legs were a little shaky. at least i got a free smoke break and an awesome workout. i'll bet my ass looks pretty good right now.

8:08PM - sometimes when you fuck up you still look good doing it

which might sum up last night's wavelength. we didn't play our best - there were a couple of obvious fuckups - but overall it was probably our best show. instead of draggin a 22 minute set into 35 minutes takin braeks between songs we took a break halfway through the set and ploughed through the songs. we got called the "the best shut the fuck up and get to the point band" by MC doc pickes... ironic given our usual performance. apparently our friends were impressed enough to buy 9 cds. i almost convinced the girl who played the megabitch on edgemont into buying a cd by tellign her i used to watch the show (she had no change). also despite hurting my back on friday i was not only able to play but able to walk my drums over and back. the general consensus was positive and i efel good about the show.
there was tons of other shit i was gonna post but i dont' remember anymore.
oh yeah. raptors get a real gm.
i think i will post audio for friends who want to download.. at a later date.

8:37PM - i'm not in the mood to update much

every time i feel like updating i'm at work and dont' have access. by the time i get home i just dont' want to anymore. i had another stupid fight with one roomate. i will be movign out in june. i refuse to make an effort for someone who wont' compromise and demands shit his way all the time.

even though i like my job it's kinda depressing. i'm not sure which is worse.. finding out how badly some companies rip people off, or finding out how many people are stupid and gullible and let themselves be ripped off.
