The Double Standards
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/F/FBN_MCNABB_NAACP?SITE=NYNYD&SECTION=FOOTBALL&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

The head of NAACP chapter in Philadelphia threw some pretty harsh criticism at Eagle QB Donovan McNabb, saying that he isn't just that good. Its funny, well more sad than anything when you think about it but last year Rush Limbaugh said pretty much the exact same thing on ESPN and he got fired for it. Unreal. I've always been a firm believer that sports mirror society, the good and unfortunaley the very bad and this is falls under the latter.

Let It Snow, 24 and other thoughts
Its snowing here in NYC, can't say that I'm liking it. Its all nice when its coming down but trying to get around really sucks. Hopefully it'll rain and warm up a bit and the snow won't freeze up. I'm really not a fan of the snow and cold. Reminds me of something Lewis Black said, "Where is global warming when you need it?"

After much pushing I finally talked "the" girl into watching 24 and with the weather as bad as it is, I predict the watching of many episodes this weekend. Fox is starting to run promos for the next season which starts January 15th, I can't wait. Big shout again to JM to turning me onto this show. "The" girl has set a goal to watch all 4 seasons before the new one begins. Will she do it? Stay tuned.

Last but not least the Yankees have actually been showing some patience with keeping and signing players. I haven't seen this type of behavior from the team since the mid 90s. Hopefully it will lead to the results of the late 90s.

A First
Last night I played softball, it was the first time I've ever played baseball or softball in December, luckily the weather wasn't too bad. Unfortunately half of our team was missing and we lost and the season is officially over. In a way I'm kind of glad because the thought of playing another game or 2 in 30 degree weather was not not something that I was looking forward to and I've been playing almost non-stop since the first week of April so its good to give it a break. Now I get to concentrate on basketball, last season our team finished 10-20, we can't get worse. At least I hope not.

Happy its Friday. Should be a great one. Giants vs. cowboys on Sunday. Go Big Blue!

Hell And Back
I took a walk around the area where I lived for a year earlier tonight. So many emotions and memories come rushing back but what seemed like a death sentence once upon a time was in reality just a bump in the road...a considerable one at that, but just a bump nonetheless. Someone once said that time will prove everything. So very true.

Thats pretty much how I remember it:

Ups and Downs
Yesterday we had 2 of the most dramatic wins you will ever see by the Knicks and Rangers. Today, not so good. Giants lost in overtime when the kicker missed 3 yup, THREE game winning field goals, un-freakin'-believable. I won't even get into the hapless Jets, no sense in kicking a team when they're down.

Back to work tomorrow, I am so hoping that this week flies by.

Pretty Cool
The Knicks just beat the 76'ers at the Garden on a last second 3 pointer in overtime and the Rangers are playing at the Garden later tonight and MSG is showing updates from the turnover from basketball court to hockey rink. I've always been interested in that type of stuff so its really cool to watch it being done.

The weird thing about extra long holiday weekends, while very good always throw off my sense of time. I woke up today thinking it was Sunday. Regardless, I'm trying to enjoy this long weekend as much as possible.

Stuffed & Thankful
I ate way too much yesterday, but lots of good at both Thanksgiving dinners I went to made it hard not to eat too much. Can't really complain about Thanksgiving although some people were missing it was still good. Its good to stop and think about all the good that you have because its pretty easy to forget at times.

Now its all about enjoying these couple of days off before going back to work on Monday.
