Fri, Jul. 18th, 2008, 10:23 am quick no spoiler Dark knight review
Holy Shit. If that isn't up for Best Picture this year, there is something horribly wrong with the universe. Even Helen, who is far less of a geek than I am when it comes to these things said, "Wow. I could sit here and watch that entire thing again right now." immediately following the credits. Fantastic.
Thu, Jul. 17th, 2008, 03:18 pm Dear gawd I'm such a damn geek
I have Helen's and my tickets to see The Dark Knight tonight at 12:05 at the Cinema De Lux 14 in Fairfax tonight. I'm freekin' psyched! [bounces up and down making little excited noises] The wait for this movie has been almost unbearable. The Joker and Two-Face are my favorite Batman villains and from what I've seen it looks like I will be happy with what is in the flick. Here's hoping what they say is correct and it's even better than Batman Begins (which I loved). I'm going to take a nap as soon as I can in preparation of being up so late on a work night. Woot! Note: Should I wear either my Nightwing or Green Lantern t-shirts to the movie? Or would that be too much like wearing the shirt of the band you are going to see? (I did bring a lightsaber to all of the new Star Wars movies)

woo. go me. Mon, May. 19th, 2008, 04:33 pm Personal viewpoint on life, in blazing 2d text!
I first started writing these back in 2003, and the last time they were posted was 2004. They started out as 18 one sentence long entries and over the years has expanded to 6 pages of solid text. So here it is in it's most updated glory. A lot of it may seem familiar to those who have read my earlier drafts, but there is a lot of new stuff in there as well as reworking almost every entry for clarification. If you want to skip it I understand, it's a lot of reading. If you do take the time to read the entire thing though (if you read it at all please read all of it ;) ) I would love feedback. This is a living document and I am looking for intelligent discourse on these subjects as I am always looking for new view points to potentially assimilate into mine. Thanks! A pic of the makeup for Two-Face in The Dark Knight was posted yesterday. Much better makeup than the 1995 travesty of Batman Forever. Don't look if you don't like spoilers. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/news/articles/4489.aspTue, May. 6th, 2008, 12:16 am New user pic...
I made it tonight on a whim. I know at least some of you will get it. :) Tue, Jan. 29th, 2008, 08:23 am QotD
"The problem with (Uwe Boll) movies is that, by the time you have chugged enough booze to be able to enjoy the damn thing, you will have already been classified as an air-fuel bomb by the US Government and dropped on a Taliban goat-herders convention in Afghanistan. And for some of them there just aren't enough fermentable reagents in the world. And I'm willing to try fermenting rocks." - Blank Slate, Sluggy Freelance forums Tue, Dec. 11th, 2007, 10:15 am Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon
http://shop.lego.com/Product/?p=10179I won this in a charity raffle over the weekend from my friends in the Timberwolf Household and my clan brother Goat. I'm freekin' stoked, this is fantastic... the only problem was when I opened the box... and I finally got a real chance to look upon the diseased, putrid black depths of the box with it's unholy gibbering hordes of pieces in such multitudes a god has not yet even seen. The madness of even the contemplation of building such cyclopean edifices chills my blood to the core. But delve into it's sublime darkness I shall, and when it's finally built at the rise of the 6th moon I shall weep tears of blood in joy as I dance the dance the ends all creation. Oh yeah, and it kicks major booty. Thanks Goat and T-Wolf! Wed, Oct. 31st, 2007, 09:20 pm Today in WoW...

I need to build a new computer. This one is old and a few components are obsolete making it impossible to upgrade without a full overhaul. I like to create a computer that can last me about 3 years before another upgrade of the proc or vid card if I can, but without going nuts with the latest and greatest tech. So here is what I'm thinking (after plenty of research). Any advice, recommendations, etc would be appreciated. Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz proc (already owned) $239.99 Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard $126.99 WD Caviar 320GB SATA 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 3GB/s HD $74.99 EVGA GeForce 8600GTS 512MB PCI-E x16 Video Card $209.99 Kingston HyperX DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) ram (2 1GB sticks at $69.49 each) $138.98 OCZ GameXStream 700W 24 pin power supply $139.99 XION Onyx XON-303 case $69.99 Asus SATA 18X DVD+R 2MB Cache cd/dvd drive $32.99 Rosewill RFX-100B 90mm PCI slot case fan $3.99 Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease $5.99 Viewsonic Optiquest Q20WB 20" 5ms Monitor $199.99 Link Depot 6ft. DVI cable(monitor doesn't come with one) $9.59 Total cost: $1253.47 Total I would need to spend: $1013.48 I already have a perfectly fine working keyboard and trackball, so those are a non issue. My current setup is a nice processor (the 2.13 core duo) with a really cheap mobo and ram to just get it running (though it crashes a lot), and old ATI X800 256MB AGP 8x vid card and a 350W 20 pin power supply. *added monitor at Chryst's recommendation
Tue, Jun. 19th, 2007, 12:40 pm Geekdom: Fights I would like to see
Sauron VS Palpatine VS Voldemort for the title of Dark Lord
Megatron VS Cy-Kill VS MechaGodzilla for the title of Evil Robot Overlord
Mr. Rogers and Captain Kangaroo VS Barny and the Teletubbies for Children Entertainment Kings, (oh, Mr. Rogers and Captain Kangaroo would be given Uzi's)
Voltron VS The Power Rangers to watch the Power Rangers get their ass kicked.
The Smurfs VS The Care Bears VS My Little Pony VS The Snorks. Doesn't matter who wins, as long as the casuality rate is high WE win.
and finally in the spirit of "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny":
Thundercats VS Silverhawks VS GI Joe VS He-Man and the Masters of the Universe VS The Transformers VS Voltron One, Two and Three VS She-Ra Princess of Power VS Batman VS Spider-Man VS all of the Pokemon. Just cause.
Trying to think of more... Mon, Jun. 4th, 2007, 06:21 pm I'm 30... ugh
Well here I am. 30. Still alive. That's a surprise. Let's see how the next few years go. Woo to me.

Mon, Mar. 26th, 2007, 09:01 pm TMNT
Just saw it, if fricken rocked! I'm a big fan of the old comic (though not the idiotic cartoon) and I was very impressed. Characterization and story were both dead on, it was obviously written by fans. If you are into the Turtles at all I highly recommend it. Mon, Mar. 12th, 2007, 11:36 pm No-Spoiler review of 300
Really liked it.
It's the sexiest, bloodiest art film I've ever seen. Troy wishes it had been that. |
