[META] A Suggestions Page
I'm still uncertain about the direction of my blogging. What should I do to get a better blog? How can I make this blog more interesting? What should I do to boost traffic?

To this end, there's now a suggestions page. Feel free to make suggestions here, anonymously or not. I'll be linking this page to my blogroll, since this campaign for improvement is going to be ongoing. And please, serious suggestions only.

What should I do to boost traffic?

You should be your own top search engine hit for your username at least. You aren't in the first page of results for "rfmcdpei" and I didn't look any further. Make sure you're pinging weblogs.com now and again - manually or through your LJ preferences. Ask friends who read your blog to link to you - as in, with a sidebar link, not just through LJ's friends mechanism. All of this will increase your search engine ratings and up the odds of random readers running across your posts.

One of the hard things about your blog is that there is such a breadth of subject matter. I might suggest joining a political blog aggregator, such as Progressive Bloggers (http://www.progressivebloggers.ca) or The Blogging Alliance of Non-Partisan Canadians (http://www.nonpartisancanadians.org/index.shtml), but only a fraction of your output is political in nature (not that either of those sites demand a quota of any kind, OTOH). You might also find it helpful to submit your entries on CanConv (http://canconv.boundbygravity.com/), which is a project to document the online Canadian conversation. Hope this is helpful! RP. I hear you keep goldfish. A little more detail please. Are they hard to keep? Should I get attached? Possibly name one? Is Oscar an appropriate name for me to use? He (Oscar) was pretty trashy in Sesame Street. How do I keep my filter running? Would you recomend them as a pet? Can I put them is a sealed bag, so I can have them sleep between me and my cat?

any other thoughts?

Hey Randy - Don't remember how I found your site, probably drifted in from AFOE at some point in the distant past. I enjoy your posts, especially those on ethnic and minority issues in europe. Keep it up!
