Bet ~that~ got your attention ;)
Today was girl group vocals in studio, one of the very last recording passes. On a couple songs we felt the need to pull in a few more female voices that aren't mine--namely Ladychant and Brick by Brick. Ladychant is kind of a 'girl power' song, so I always imagined it with all-female backing vocals. Brick by Brick's center chant, 'One Planet, Many People, One Mother, One Tribe' just sounded a bit unbalanced with all guys. As Andrew said, we were going to have to change the lyrics to 'Half the Planet, Half the People' if we didn't pull in some ladies ;)
So I nagged a few friends for their assistance--Samantha, our graphic artist, Kim ( odilla ) and my buddy Tatyanna. Everyone did really great--the songs are wonderfully filled out now. Didn't take us long, either--only a few hours. Part of what I love about the finished product is that we don't sound too...polished, I guess? It doesn't sound like I went out and hired a choir, you know? It sounds good, but you can tell it's real people doing the singing. I think it really suits the two songs. It was fun for me, too--I got to sit upstairs, listen and critique rather than be the one in front of the mic. Although I did end up doing one little high harmony part on the chant and end of Brick by Brick.
But yeah, all in all, quite the productive day. Jay goes in tomorrow to do a final percussion pass and then we mix.
Did you see that? Then we mix. Music to my ears! I can't believe it's almost done... Tags: recording Current Mood: cheerful Current Music: Jay practicing to Sevatividam

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to send out a brief reminder that we have a show this Saturday at Esoterica.
We're probably going on sometime around the 8:30 time frame, after the
Holiday parade ends. Remember to come early and park in the free
parking deck behind the store. The streets will be closed down
starting at 4 pm. All manner of fun stuff going on that day, this
is from the website:
The Town of Leesburg, Virginia will present an old-fashioned holiday
celebration featuring carriage rides, pictures with Santa, tree
lighting, a parade, and live holiday music on Saturday, December 3rd
from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. Holiday music will fill the streets of
Leesburg’s charming historic district, decked out for the season with
fresh greens and holiday lights. Horse-drawn carriages will take people
on a tour through the historic district. Santa will pose for pictures
with children, and there will be a children’s hands-on art activities
area. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Choral music
will herald the town Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 3rd
at the Town Green, 25 West Market Street. At 6:00 p.m. the Tree
Lighting Ceremony will begin featuring a festive display of lights.
The annual Holiday Parade will begin at 7:00 p.m. and travel from Ida
Lee Park along King Street to Fairfax Street. Santa is expected to take
a break from pictures and be the last float in the parade.
Carriage rides will run from 5:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Rides will be
offered first come, first served (no reservations). Various carriages
will be available for a 10-minute ride through downtown Leesburg. The
rides will depart from the corner of North Street and King Street.
So, hope to see you there!
