Wow!
When you print a CD through Oasis, there's a lot of free nifty stuff--accounts at CD Baby, Sonicbids...all sorts of good things.  Another thing Oasis does is take a track of yours and put it on one of their compilation disks.  They do compilation CDs for all sorts of genres, then send them out to industry people, magazines, clients, radio stations, etc.  Today, we received four copies of the Oasis Acoustic sampler.  'Persephone' is the very first track!  Mind you, we get no say at all as to track order.  I'm really psyched--people will actually listen to the cut simply because of its placement!  Hooray!!!

The end of the road is in sight!
I'm about 24 hours away from sending off the completed album to Oasis for print. This is so exciting!! Going through the Revel Moon Website right now and rewriting/organizing it to reflect the changes in our lives as well as market 'Revel Moon.' I can't wait. Also, fantastic news--as long as we get all the info to Oasis by Nov 29th, the album will be available by Christmas. And we'll definitely have it to them by then ;)

As soon as the web page updates are finished, I'll post them here. We'll be taking pre-orders online at that time :)  ::happydance::

Some girl/girl action

Bet ~that~ got your attention ;)

Today was girl group vocals in studio, one of the very last recording passes.  On a couple songs we felt the need to pull in a few more female voices that aren't mine--namely Ladychant and Brick by Brick.  Ladychant is kind of a 'girl power' song, so I always imagined it with all-female backing vocals.  Brick by Brick's center chant, 'One Planet, Many People, One Mother, One Tribe' just sounded a bit unbalanced with all guys.  As Andrew said, we were going to have to change the lyrics to 'Half the Planet, Half the People' if we didn't pull in some ladies ;)

So I nagged a few friends for their assistance--Samantha, our graphic artist, Kim ([info]odilla ) and my buddy Tatyanna.  Everyone did really great--the songs are wonderfully filled out now.  Didn't take us long, either--only a few hours.  Part of what I love about the finished product is that we don't sound too...polished, I guess?  It doesn't sound like I went out and hired a choir, you know?  It sounds good, but you can tell it's real people doing the singing.  I think it really suits the two songs.  It was fun for me, too--I got to sit upstairs, listen and critique rather than be the one in front of the mic.  Although I did end up doing one little high harmony part on the chant and end of Brick by Brick.

But yeah, all in all, quite the productive day.  Jay goes in tomorrow to do a final percussion pass and then we mix.

Did you see that?  Then we mix.  Music to my ears!  I can't believe it's almost done...

News from the land of Revel Moon

Work continues apace on 'Fire and Water' -- we are ~finally~ almost done.  Brett added the last of the lead lines a couple weeks ago and BJ, Jay and Ben did the last of the male harmony vocals at roughly the same time.  I had surgery on the 12th, which slowed things down a bit during my recuperation, but we're back on track now.  The only things that remain are a session on February 8th to record some female harmony vocals and one more session for extra percussion.  After that, we mix.  Andrew, our fantasticsuperrificmarvelous engineer is hoping to have the majority of the mixing done by the end of February.  We should be able to go to mastering in early March, which puts the cd release in April sometime.

Now, I have a question for you.  We're working on the content of the little booklet that goes in the CD.  I know you want to see the lyrics and of course we'll have a page listing who played what on the album, but what else would you like to see?  Any particular information you're curious about?

Show this Saturday!
Hey everyone!

Just wanted to send out a brief reminder that we have a show this Saturday at Esoterica.  We're probably going on sometime around the 8:30 time frame, after the Holiday parade ends.  Remember to come early and park in the free parking deck behind the store.  The streets will be closed down starting at 4 pm.  All manner of fun stuff going on that day, this is from the website:

The Town of Leesburg, Virginia will present an old-fashioned holiday celebration featuring carriage rides, pictures with Santa, tree lighting, a parade, and live holiday music on Saturday, December 3rd from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. Holiday music will fill the streets of Leesburg’s charming historic district, decked out for the season with fresh greens and holiday lights. Horse-drawn carriages will take people on a tour through the historic district. Santa will pose for pictures with children, and there will be a children’s hands-on art activities area. Refreshments will be available for purchase.  Choral music will herald the town Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 3rd at the Town Green, 25 West Market Street. At 6:00 p.m. the Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin featuring a festive display of lights.

The annual Holiday Parade will begin at 7:00 p.m. and travel from Ida Lee Park along King Street to Fairfax Street. Santa is expected to take a break from pictures and be the last float in the parade.

Carriage rides will run from 5:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Rides will be offered first come, first served (no reservations). Various carriages will be available for a 10-minute ride through downtown Leesburg. The rides will depart from the corner of North Street and King Street.

So, hope to see you there!
