    Franz's World
    New Franz's World today.

I'm making progress on my Halloween costume. I usually don't bother, because I find the whole thing silly, but this year I have the opportunity to terrorize small children. I'll post pics when I'm done. For now, I'll just say it involves a bunch of yarn, some stuffing, and a track suit. No, it's not a sushi roll.

Also, while I'm going to continue to practice and to play the mandolin, I'm switching lessons to guitar for a while. I've had one gathering dust for years, so I'd like to at least be able to strum it convincingly from time to time...

    New Franz's World today.

I was going to record this weekend but watched House instead. Hugh Laurie, I blame you. :P

    Franz's World
This morning I said I'd post a new Franz's World tonight. By a remarkable twist of fate, I did just that.
    9:36 am
I forgot to upload this week's Franz's World this morning, darn it. I guess that'll be this evening.

In other news, I moved a litter box three feet yesterday so that we don't have to step over it all the time. Wyeth and Ling came over to note the move, but Bogart freaked the hell out. It was kind of funny watching him panic and be all terrified of the same box in a slightly different location.

Brain. Walnut. Not even as big...

A headline link on cnn.com reads "Bush lands in Texas; Residents urged to leave".

Sometimes, the jokes just fall on you like a gentle rain. Or, you know, like a hurricane.

    Franz's World
Ladies and germs, a new Franz's World.
    6:21 am
Yesterday was nice. I worked on perfecting the crochet tarantula leg while watching movies and most of a disk of "Eureka".

I should get back to the music now...

Also, there's a new strip at Franz's World.

    Franz's World
I'm pleased to announce the first new venture of Retrozombi Media - "Franz's World".

"Franz's World" is a comic about a state of mind - a mind filled with confusion and paranoia. Franz attempts to makes sense of a reality that actively repels him by exploring the connections between seemingly separate images. He remains behind the scenes, leaving only his revelations for us to consider.

I woke up around two o'clock last night to the realization that I was petting a cat. Wyeth, I think, from the volume of his purr (he's the one in my icon photo). Apparently, I'd been loving him up in my sleep.

I have to wonder how long this sort of thing has been going on...

Today I recorded 17 takes of the rhythm mando part of my song. Hopefully there's enough there that I can cobble together most of a track, though I know I'm going to have to do some more recording of the middle bit, where I run through a dozen key changes. Something always goes wrong, like timing, fret noise, missed notes, coughing... I understand why sensei advised not trying to get one perfect take.

Start of a Media Empire (of at least several square feet)!
It's official as of July 31st. My company is now on the books as Retrozombi Media, LLC.

The first product, a song that some of you know I've been working on for waaaaaay too long (Hey! I had to learn how to play some instruments first!), is slated for release in late fall, and if all goes well a second will be available in time for Giftmas.

No logo or website yet, but these things will come.

Bogart lost a kitten tooth today while nomming on Wendi. He was a bit dismayed, but then she gave him catsip which made everything mo' better. Silly Bogie.

Today I sent in paperwork for a change in my LLC's name. This is stage one of my plan to own teh interweb. :)

When the paperwork is approved, I'll post the new name. The current one is Bi-Frost Consulting, LLC. The Bi-Frost part had originally come from a proposed name for handling our joint endeavors. See, 'cause there are two of us, plus the puns on the Bifrost bridge and 'by', etc. The consulting came from, well, my need for a front for my consulting work.

Well, I haven't consulted through Bi-Frost in about 3 years, and I need a name more befitting of a media empire. Media small hut in the woods. Whatever.

    Anyway, more on that later.

I've been practicing the basic rhythm part of my first song, and that's coming along fairly well if not speedily. I've been looking into selling music online and believe I have a good lead on a service. I've started investigating song and performance copyrighting, as well as trademarking.

So much to do, and I haven't finished my next podcast yet!

I picked up a bottleneck slide to experiment with while on vacation. It'll remove the problem with my inherited mandolin by avoiding the frets altogether. Plus, slide is just a really cool sound!

The downside? I have to actually be a good player to use it...

Wendi's been getting into digging up the past, and she uncovered that our genetic lines meet about 6 generations back. Whoops. No wonder we've always felt close...

Why do I always get sick on the weekend? That seems spectacularly unfair.

Note to self - My cellphone takes movies with sound. Whoops.
    8:10 am
Yesterday Wendi introduced young Bogie to one of our beaten and eaten cat toys - a pole with two mangled feathers at the end of a string. Bogie went nuts for this thing, and when he'd catch the feathers he'd growl and try to make off with them. It wound up with Wendi playing tug of war with four pounds of fluffy fury.

    Such a goomba.

So it turns out that the melody for "You Can't Win" is entirely in Ab after all. The changes to Eb and Db don't alter the notes one bit. I'm pretty happy because it sounded so right that I couldn't imagine the melody actually demanding the chord changes.
