10 things you already know
I like [info]cereta's "10 Things" meme. It's like I get to do a FAQ on myself.

10 Things You Probably Already Know About Me

1. Slasher. Smut-writer. Here there be adult content. Duh.

2. Female. 41. Married. One child (a girl, in first grade). Note: "Monogamously involved with a male person" does not equal "heterosexual."

3. American. White. Southern. I've lived in the Midwest for twenty years, but I'm Southern on corpuscle level.

4. Don't have cable. Mostly don't watch TV. Actually not very fannish. Just here for the porn and the friendship.

5. On dial-up. Hence, not looking at a lot of art or downloading a lot of trailers or watching a lot of vids.

6. Former journalist and technical writer. Attempting to become a pro fiction writer. Currently unemployed, or to put that another way, enjoying a spouse-sponsored arts grant.

7. Wildly introverted. Possibly this translates to "socially inept." I wouldn't know, would I?

8. Like [info]cereta, I consider anything I say online to be a publicly published text. If I didn't want it quoted, discussed, etc., I wouldn't post it. This also means that if you wanted to, say, play Sunday Coneskey in a role-playing game, you wouldn't need to ask my permission (any more than you'd ask Rowling's permission to play Draco Malfoy), though I (unlike Rowling) would get a nice warm feeling if you sent me an e-mail and told me about it.

9. Depending on how much free time I have, how much your interests and mine are overlapping at the moment, and how much I feel like being involved with other people, I friend and unfriend freely. Go thou and do likewise. If you really can't bear to read one more post about Christmas music, you can unfriend me for the season, or forever, without hurting my feelings one bit.

10. I'm an Episcopalian. I live in a horribly conservative diocese where ordaining women is still controversial, so I'm a member of a Presbyterian church, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm Episcopalian. However, I also believe that anything humans say about the Divine is necessarily partial, provisional, and metaphorical. Which means that I don't believe my religion is any more correct than yours -- the most I can say is that it's probably incorrect in different ways.

Tis the first thing I ever memorized! I wanted to be like all the other people and just sing it instead of have to read it out of the hymnal :) It's the Doxology, Dude

Wildly introverted.

Did you possibly once upon a time say something along the lines of "...when I say I need to be alone I don't mean it like I need chocolate, I mean it like I need air?" Because I've been looking for that exact quote for forever, and digging through the last five months of the journals of a lot of people, but now that I think about it, it might have been from you.

I always feel a little funny posting about religion on LJ, because in my normal experience, people who talk about their religions in public tend to do so because they want to change yours.

And then I think, But, hey, why not be part of changing that?

There needs to be some religion-related equivalent to that bumper sticker that says, "Straight but not narrow."

Nice to further meet you. I feel similar about posts. And the founder of the Druidism I espouse, Reformed Druids of North America, became an Episcopalian priest. Did not cease being a Druid, I don't think, and some present elders of RDNA are also practising Episcopals.

Not me though. I married into the Native American Church. But if you want to know more, I'd better bite the meme. oh--age 48

Do it! I love this meme. It's nice to have a sort of capsule of information on people -- and especially interesting to see what people consider significant enough to include in a list only ten items long.

It's quite a luxury. I try to be suitably grateful, even when I feel that I would sell my dumpling-shaped body to have a little cash that I didn't have to account to anyone for.

Actually not very fannish. Just here for the porn and the friendship.

See, yes. Exactly so. I'm the only person I know who went to ConneXions this past year and attended fewer panels than I have fingers on one hand. All I really wanted to do was connect offline with people I'd met online and see where that took us.

Well. And I wanted to write porn, of course. But that, perhaps, goes without saying.

I also believe that anything humans say about the Divine is necessarily partial, provisional, and metaphorical.

Beautifully said. I've never quite understood how some folks can be so certain they know exactly what God thinks and wants when, by definition, God is unencompassable by the human mind.

I spent ten years as an Episcopal church musician (nine, strictly speaking, but the tenth was in the oldest Episcopal church in the US which veered only slightly off into Christian Unitarianism [!?] some time back). I sometimes think by now I'm Episcopalian by association. Certainly if I ever joined another organized religion after the one I got out of at 20, it would be the ECUSA.

Firstly, Christmas music LOVE. I have now bought for Deller Consort CDs after listening to their version of "Patapan" that you posted. I am immensely grateful for your posting so much excellent music.

And as a fellow Southern, sorta-Presbyterian, monogamously-involved-with-a-male-straight-but-not-narrow, non-TV-watching person who loves key lime pies, it's nice to meet you :)

Note: "Monogamously involved with a male person" does not equal "heterosexual." WORD, my friend (literally, because I'm friending you. Thought I'd pop in and say hello. Hello!).

Hooray for the over-thirty crowd! I am not one of you, but I like meeting you. We twenty-somethings like seeing REAL grownups in fandom because it reassures us that we're not totally insane for playing around with a kids' series like this. Actually, I lied, I'm really 19, but who's counting?

I know you said you don't need to know when you're friended, but I just wanted to let you know where I found you. Your story 'Higher Education' thrilled me beyond belief, and when I later discovered SGA, 'Advantage' became one of my favorite fics in the fandom. Anyway, I just took a peek at your journal and friended it. Me, I'm a 41yo displaced Texan living in Canada now, my journal's mostly fandom/music-related with some RL thrown in for spice. I'm thinking I need to write one of these "10 things..." posts now for my info page. Anyway, I babble. Just wanted to tell you that I love your writing and I'm looking forward to reading more!
