It's amazing the little things you find here and there while cleaning out closets. Just from cleaning out the closet next to my computer room (that leads to the cats' room in the garage), I've found my high school yearbooks, an old baby photo album, and tons of little knick knacks that just got stored in a box. I've tossed a good chunk of the knick knacks, kept some for sentimental purposes, and set some aside to try and sell on Craigslist.
It's just funny, because I keep getting distracted coming across stuff I haven't seen in years and skimming through it or looking and just reminiscing. It's a mess, but it's not a bad way to spend a Saturday. Plus, now I can finally tear up that carpet that Pretzel continues to defile despite my best efforts to stop him...

Is it too much to ask that I be able to sit in my living room and watch my TV without either a running commentary or playing 21 questions about what's going on in the show?

One of the things that happened on my last night in Miami last week has kind of stuck with me, and not in a good way. On our last evening, Kyle
kyleholl, Daniel
inqueerer and I opted out for a big after party with the Boston chorus and instead decided to go to the bar and spend some time with a founding member of the chorus who had joined us on the trip.
I would consider this gentleman a friend of mine, as we bonded a few years ago when he briefly re-joined the chorus. He still has close ties with the chorus and decided to come to Miami to join us for GALA. As I always enjoy spending time with him, and I wanted him to get to know Kyle a little better, we all decided to go to one of the hotel bars for a few drinks.
While we were talking, the inevitable subject of politics came up. I don't remember the exact verbiage of the conversation, but someone made a comment about enjoying a politically scathing song by a lesbian chorus we'd heard earlied that night called "I Wanna Be A Republican", a song all about being greedy , selfish and only liking white people. I replied "Well, you tolerate me pretty well". While not a Republican by the party's current standards (I identify as Libertarian, for those who haven't been around very long), I definitely lean more to the right than your average gay man.
The look I got from the founding member wasn't entirely unexpected, one of complete disbelief and shock! He immediately asked me "You aren't voting for McCain, are you?".
"I'm not," I told him. "But I'm sure as hell not planning on voting for Obama either"
What he said next was what has stuck with me since last week, and I'm quite frankly, a little annoyed by it... Again, paraphrasing here, but the idea was "Well, don't you worry, hon! Just give me a little time and I'll fix you"
??? o_0
Fix me??
Seriously? I need to be fixed? Because I don't subscribe to the same beliefs that the majority of the gay community does?
I don't think so.
I listen to office and chorus political debates all the time, and I always try to be respectful of others' opinions, even when it feels like I'm always in the minority on my views. Just because I'm in the minority, though, it doesn't mean that my ideas are "wrong" and that I need to be "fixed". I feel like, in general, I just happen to be the other side of the same coin as most people. I believe in generally the same ideas... It's just the approach where we differ on issues.
Yet, I find too often that people tend to dismiss my opinions or make comments like that when they find out that I don't march to the same gay drum that they do... and it just annoys me. For a group of people who are always talking about diversity and tolerance, there just seem to be so many people who want neither when it comes to opinions or viewpoints.
I don't need to be fixed. If anything, I should be tolerated for having a diverse opinion.

Is it sacreligious to say that Jesus is kinda hot in this production of Godspell I'm at now? Did I just get my suite in Hell upgraded to a penthouse?
*yawn* On the MARTA train now heading to the airport and then off to Miami to sing with the gays
I find myself feeling a bit mopey this 4th of July evening. It's been kind of a lackluster day overall, and I just find myself feeling quite alone at home tonight. I had no 4th plans to speak of, but even if I did, I likely would have had to pass, as I'm on-call. And sure enough, I've been called off and on for stuff that needed to be fixed, deleted and/or looked at.
So even if I had tried to sneak out, I likely would have had to turn right around and come home as it wasn't stuff I could just do over the phone.

So I just discovered yesterday that the evil Bitch Next Door neighbor lady has hired MY yard guy to do her lawn. When I came home from work early yesterday, I saw him working on her yard!
I feel so betrayed! ;)

So I finally hooked up my XBox to my new computer since it's Windows Media Center, and now I'm streaming the first episode of the TV show Dexter straight to my XBox from Netflix.
It's a beautiful thing!
Although I must admit I was a little creeped out when my XBox turned on my PC for me...

I look forward to the day when a text message to Kyle consists of "What do you want for dinner?" instead of "I miss you already! Don't get on the plane!" :(
Finally moving again :-)
We're not going anywhere anytime soon. Just walked up to the front of the accident and there are 7+ cars still mangled on the road plus a semi
We're bored so we're playing a game of Who's Hot In The Traffic Jam? Lots of hot DILFs on the road today!
Stuck on I85 N just outside of LaGrange sitting behind a nasty accident. At least the company is handsome and entertaining
How does one pronounce the dessert wine, Steindorfer Trockenbeerenauslese?
Be vewy, vewy quiet! I have LJ access from the office today....

Happy birthday to
rileymccarthy today! Hope you have a great day today! :)
In watching this special, it makes me wonder why Hollywood even bothers making movies or having the Oscars if all of the "best movies" were made 40+ years ago.
