I have been bad about this Journal...sorry
    Greetings all in blog-land.

Sorry to all those who read my blog to keep up with my comings and goings. I haven't been updating here as much as I should. I have a reason, and that reason is MySpace. Yeah, it is kind of addicting, and a lot easier to maintain than my own site. I will not be abandoning The Roach Motel! I just haven't had anything to update it with. But I will in the near future.
A little update as to what has been going on with me. Well, I am in school...still, and in fact I should be studying for an exam. But I have a lot of time to do that and I think I have a pretty good grasp of the material sorta.
I did manage to find a job. I am working in Nebraska's only Magic Store. It is really fun working there. Although I only scheduled for Saturdays, I do get extra hours too during the week. I am going to try and find another job, in addition to my current one, I need a little more cash! Since I work EVERY saturday, I am not sure when I am going to get to come home. Maybe after the semester ends!
As for school, I have been busy preparing presentations on System Analysis and Design, Database Management, and E-Business. It has been a lot of work, but I guess I am learning something too! Bonus!
I have met someone too, she is really nice and sweet...cute too! We have gone out a couple of times, I really want to get to know her better. So that's that!
That is about it for me...I have to go and study now, go over power point slides and whatnot. If you want to check out my MySpace Profile go to www.myspace.com/rob_beals

    I'm back...sorta
Hello all in Blogland, I will warn ya, this one is lonnnnnnng.
Some of you might be wondering what I have been doing since my last update? How did my trip back home go and what is going on now? If not, then why read this? I got on the road the day after my last post a little late, not too bad though and the trip to Scottsbluff was uneventful, I stopped once to eat and to get gas. So I made it home for the holidays and I hung around my Mom's house, doing little things here and there. The next day, I had a gig at my Sister-in-law's office for their Christmas party. The show went really well I thought, I was a bit nervous at first but in the end it turned out really good. I had a lot of fun, and I hope they did too! I did a lot of close-up stuff, well that is all that I did, I wasn't gonna haul in a bunch of illusions and a huge fan just so I could be David Copperfield, besides, I don't have any big illusions. Maybe I should build some....hmmmm.
So this was the plan for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Christmas Eve, no family activities although a bunch of us went to church with my Mom, even me. I was sure that I was going to burst into flames walking through the door, but I only smoldered a bit. Although during the sermon, I did start to think about my Religion of Late Antiquity class and some of the stuff that the professor talked about. Wow, I was remembering stuff from a class that I took! After church we all went back to my Mom's house for her famous Cheese soup, oh my god, if you haven't had this soup you haven't lived, it is like an orgasm in a bowl...actually no it's not, that is just gross. But the soup is damn good, and I can't imagine Christmas without it. So, I stayed up late and helped Santa fill Mom's stocking. She got a couple of DVD's and some other odds and ends. Even I got a stocking, and it wasn't filled with toilet bowl cleaners and half eaten beef jerky this year. It had some really good stuff, especially the pomigranite (I don't think I spelled that right). So the family plan for Christmas was that we would go to my Sister's house that evening, and open gifts and such. So during the day, everyone was going to different places for dinner(lunch), I got invited to go with my mom, but I couldn't since the place in question has a lot of cats, and being allergic, that was a no-go. So, I went over to Sandy and Gary's, in my new kilt. Just to show it off! It was supposed to be Sandy, Gary, myself, Josh and Cricket, but Josh and Cricket were ill and couldn't make it, they did turn up eventually. And drat, I didn't get any pics of me in the kilt. Foiled again! So Christmas evening comes along, and our family does a kind of white elephant gift exchange, except the gifts are good. After some debate and good natured ribbing, we all got something and decided on next year's theme, next year it would be the Ugliest gift! I should mention that Sandy's ugly gift for the Armstrong family gift exchange is perhaps the ugliest thing in all of the world. I would try and describe it, but mere words fail to convey the level of profound ugliness that this object oozes from it's every pore. I can describe this artifact as a car accident....you know you shouldn't look at it, but yet it draws you in, hopeing to see a severed head. I swear I didn't want to look at it, I swear, but it grabbed me by the collar and said "Stare at ME!", I looked at it, turning every so often (just to see if it changed somehow), for a good half of a hour. ARRRGGGGHHHHH, the memory of this frightfull thing shall haunt me to my dying day. I must switch topics.
So Christmas came and went, and in a couple of days, my other brother, Doug, and his family showed up, It was good to see them too, and we watched that spectacular Husker game! I was quite shocked, I didn't expect a win at all, but I will take it! So, Friday rolls around I headed back to Lincoln, once again the drive was thankfully uneventful. But I got home and made a gift for a very good friend of mine. So, I took it over to her house on New Year's Eve. She was going out with some friends and I was not. While we were talking my friend Cullen called and told me that he was having a little bash and that I should show up. Well, by this time I talked my self into going, I was actually looking forward to drinking a bottle of wine by myself, but plans change. So get back home to get ready, I have decided to go downtown to see the Killigans play at Duffy's before I get to Cullen's party. Before I head out the door to Duffy's I check my email and stuff, well there is a message from a very good friend of mine who says that she is going to be at Marz and I should show up and she would buy me a beer! I am not one to turn down a beautiful woman, and beer to boot, so I figured I would drop in there after the Killigans gig. Well, I get down to Duffy's and the show is sold out...But I do see Ben the drummer and says that there might be a ticket floating around...eventually I got in. The Killigans show was great, I had a blast! I got some great pictures of the show and they should be up on the site soon. So I headed down to Marz and ran into my friend, she and the group that she was with said that they were going to anoher bar, so I said ok, so we started walking out the door, well, my friend was getting a bit cold, she was wearing this very sexy black dress that she just looked smokin' in, so being a gentleman, I offered her my coat. Well, I started walking off toward the other bar, it was a couple of blocks away...and I hear "Where are you going?" and I responded..."To the Bricktop, aren't you?" She then told me that they had a bus and for me to get my fat ass on it...well she just said to get on the bus, I added the fat ass bit. So we are riding around in this bus, drinking and laughing and stuff. I thought we were going straight to the other bar, but no, we drove around Lincoln for a while and then went to the bar. Well, the line into the bar we want to go into was too long and we would be outside at midnight so we went to Mickey's, not my favorite place. On a sad note, I didn't get kiss anyone at midnight, I did get a peck on the cheek but that hardly counts. But on a good note, I did get to have the first dance of the new year with my gorgeous friend, and boy can she dance! Well, a little later on I had a really good talk with her boyfriend...damn my luck...no he actually is a great guy...damnit. And I told him just how lucky his is to have her in his life. But then the bar was closing, I would have liked to continue on with the group, but I did tell Cullen that I would show up at his place...so I took off.
Cullen's party was a small but intimate affair. When I got there they were playing twister. Anyway we drank and laughed and told stories. Maybe even so other high school games. But in the end we had a lot of fun, even the the bits about trying to scare the shit out of each other in the closet! Don't ask. Anyway, before you know it, it was 8:30 am...I had to go. Well, I got home and couldn't sleep. Such is life.
The last couple of days have been pretty uneventful, I have been applying for jobs and I did go to a movie with a friend. Other than that, not much has been going on. I have been staying in my apartment catching a cold, right now I feeling pretty bad. I hope I can kick it in the next couple if days...School starts on Monday...man I need to go get my books...Well I am out of here....L8r

I should be packing or sleeping or something!
    Hey There!
I hope you enjoyed my last entry...although I don't really remember writing it!
Here is what the skinny is. I should be packing right now, but of course I am sitting here writing, even though at this point, packing consists of throwing dirty clothes into a laundry bag, so that I can get some sleep. But then again, I haven't been able to sleep very well lately, so right now I am wide awake, and I know I should be asleep since I want to get on the road early. So this is what has been happening today. Well, I woke up really late today...puttered around my apartment for while and then went to get my oil changed and picked up some stuff for my trip. And then I started dinking around my apartment some more. I made a couple of CDs for my nephew, and then I realized it was 11pm...I still needed to get some gas, so I did that. Now I am writing this thing to put off packing!
The last thing that I need to do is Wish Everyone a Very Merry Christmas...I got to run!

    Woohoo...a drunk post!
    Hey there!
Yeah, here I am in Blog land posting a bit tipsy... I went out to comedy night at Duffy's tonight and had a great tiem! To tell the truth, I always have a good time on Comedy night at Duffy's, even though I have seen all the comedians, many many many many times. One of these days, I am actually going to get up there and do about 5 minutes myself...I am just working on a routine that will work on stage.
I guess I should let you all know what I have been up to. Finals just ended here at UNL, and boy am I glad. I really didn't enjoy this semester at all. I had one interesting class, but I admit that I didnt put all that I could into it. But I'll let you all know what happened finals week, it was kinda interesting and somewhat amusing. So there I was during Dead week (the week before finals), and the last thing on my mind was finals...mistake No. 1! So I really didn't apply myself. So there I am the weekend before finals and I have no idea when some of my finals are and when the paper is due for my Relgion of Late Antiquity class (it was my final and basically my grade depends on it). Let me fill you in on this one, I have known about this paper since the first week of class, but of course I have been putting it off! By the way, it is a 10-20 page paper on any topic that deals with religion during the Hellenist period. So there I am at the begining of the semester and I decide to do my paper on the the Mystery Cult of Mithras. It sounded interesting. So I put it off until about 3 weeks ago...and I go to the library...somebody has check out all the books that I need, well the obvious ones anyway. So during Dead week I go back to the library to see if any of the books that I need are back, of course they aren't. So I get about 7 books that sorta deal with my topic and go with it. But I put off the reading. There I am, on the weekend of Dead week, I haven't gone to class, so I am not sure when the last day I can turn in my paper is. I email a couple of people and they tell me that we are going to meet on Monday and the paper is probably due then...this is Sunday afternoon. So I start my paper on Sunday night...10 pages no problem, I forgot to factor in the reading of references. So I start reading and begin to write....I don't stop until 6am at which point I force myself to take a nap for 2 hours because I am beginning to get a bit loopy. Well, I get up after 2 hours and get back to writing....by the time I have to go to my class, I only have 9 pages....I figure...oh what the hell. So I get to class, and we have a really good discussion and the professor informs me that I can turn in my paper on thursday...crap. Well, I have three more finals to do, and I still haven't gotten any sleep...I am screwed. So, I just wing it. The paper is done, sorta and briefly go over my notes for the other three exams, one of which is take home exam, that I am not too worried about, but the others I am crossing my fingers. So all of finals week I have been going on a really messed up sleep pattern and not enough studying. Hope for the best.
I did have a really good Wednesday night though. It was a very good friend's birthday. Let's just say it was a wild party....Pudding! And Friday night was pretty fun too! My friday, the same birthday girl, and I were supposed to go the movies, but I got lost getting to here house and we ended up just watching a video instead. But before we watched the video, we went to Barnes and Noble at like 10:30 pm and got some coffee and bought some books. It was cool. Then we watched the video, and made Christmas cards. I don't think I have ever had so much fun do arts and crafts. I personally think that it was the company that I was keeping, but it was pretty fun.
Geez, I have been rambling for a while now...I am gonna go. Ihave a bunch of stuff to do tomorrow before I hit the road to go back to the Bluffs. So until next time....see ya

    Ok, I am back...
Hello all of you out there in Blogland!
And as both my brother and sister let me know, there are some people who actually read this! Not, only that but this entry should be a bit cheerier than the last. Oh, and about that last one, I was a bit upset about being stoodup, but as it turned out, the young lady had gotten ill...so I guess I over reacted just a bit. Anyway, here is the lowdown!
I did go home for Thanksgiving, it was a lot of fun... I was there from Tuesday until Sunday, so I got a good rest in there. Overall, it was a pretty normal Turkey day...in fact we had three turkies (is that the actual plural of turkey?) We had a fried turkey, a smoked turkey, and a roasted turkey...and then my mom roasted another one! Just so I could have some turkey to take home! Isn't she sweet? Love ya Mom! I took my nephew to the new Harry Potter movie...it was really good...yeah sure they cut a bunch of stuff out, but they had to, it was a 750 page book! Also, I got to hang out with my friends back in the Bluffs, we had a blast! So, Sunday I thought I would head out a bit later than usual, but my sister called and said that there was snow in the middle of the state and I should get going as soon as possible, well I did, and I am glad I did. I got to Ogalalla and it started to snow...it was on and off, heavy to light, and I thought I might stop in North Platte, but when I got there it was pretty nice, so on I went! Well, 15 miles past North Platte, I hit a full on blizzard, couldn't see shit. Well, I plugged along to Kearney and I thought I might stop for the night..but it was nice there, so on I went...hit more snow...around Grand Island it got nice again, and then about 30 miles east of Lincoln....I hit a freaking thunderstorm...rain, lightning, thunder, hail...I am pretty sure that I am gonna borrow a line from Lewis Black and say...I experienced 5 different seasons in one day!
then it was time for the last week of regular classes...oh boy...I had a bunch of stuff to do...finish up a project, prepare a powerpoint presentation, and work on a paper. I got everything done, except the paper...not much to say other than that...
I went to the Zoo bar on Thursday night, and saw my favorite Lincoln band...The Killigans. It was a great show and everybody had a great time. Actually, they are playing again this coming Friday at Duggans, so come on down if you want to see a great band! Oh yeah they are going to be at Duffy's on New Year's Eve, whiskey at midnight...woohoo!
I can't think of anything else to say, so I am gonna end this right here.

Yeah I haven't updated in a while...so what! Nobody read this anyway!
Hello there to the nothingness that is the Internet.

here is a little update to what has been going on with me in the past couple of weeks. Man, I can't even remember when I last did a blog entry. I guess this is just a way for me to vent. Since nobody reads it, no harm done. Well, a couple of weeks ago I turned the big 3-5...no big deal. It wasn't all that. it was pretty boring actually. Then in November, I went to see one of my new favorite bands, Blue October, actually I am listening to them right now. The show was really really good, and I had a really good time at both the concert and the after party, in Iowa of all places! The show was in Omaha but the party was in Iowa, go figure, well they do stary open a hour later there! Other than that nothing has been happening except that I put in my two weeks at my job, Yeah I know it was a stupid thing to do, but I was in actually physical pain after coming home...,my back was killing me evey time I worked, granted I am a fat bastard and back pain is a part of the deal, but I really wasn't enjoying myself at my job, I actually dreaded going to work every day. But enough of that.

Ok here is how my day went today. Ok work sucked. As it always does. Then I called up this friend who said that she wanted to go out with me tonight... So I called her up and we talked for awhile and she told me about her past boyfriend and how he would say that he was going to do something and then he didn't show and how much that upset her. Well, she said that she and a bunch of friends were going to go to this bar across town, and that she wanted me to go too. Well, I said I would and I did. She told me that they usually get there about 9:30pm so I said I would meet her there. So after I watched LOST I headed over there. Nobody was really there so I had a couple of Guiness and just sat there playing with my cards and coins, every once in a while playing solitare on my ipod. Well, 10 comes, she is there, 11, then 11:30, and Midnight... By this time I have had a couple of three Guiness. Well, lets just cut to the chase, I got stood up. I guess it wasn't a date or anything...I mean how could this girl actually be interested in me anyway. But still, I am a bit steamed that someone told me to meet them somewhere at a certain time, and then they don't show, without a freekin phone call. Ok, I am a bit buzzed right now, and I am probably not making much sense, but I am a bit pissed. Granted, I would love to go out with this girl, and I also know that I am probably not her type, just a friend...my curse. But a little common courtasy would be nice. Just a damn phone call would have been nice.

Oh and I haven't even bitched about school yet. Well, I am in this class that I am in a group and we have to give a presentation tomorrow, well today, now that I think about it. Well, one of the people in the group emails me and says that she can't do her part because of an emergency, so I have to do her part as well as mine. So I give up going to go see Gaelic Storm so that I can get both her part and my parts of the presentation done.... Well, yesterday I emailed my part to the person putting together the power point slides. Today I get the presentation in my email and a third of it is missing. The other person doing the diagrams hasn't done them yet and is having trouble with them, even after I helped him come up with them...jesus...I basically told him what to diagram the other day, gave up my concert, and all I expected is that he would get it done. I guess I will find out tomorrow, or today if he actually did it. To be honest, I will be surprised if he gets it done in time for the presentation.

I guess I am in pissy mood because I got stood up...I suppose I should be grateful that this wasn't an actual date tonight. I am all to well acquainted with being stood up for dates. This was just hanging out, but then again, if I didn't go I would just have stayed home and saved some money. but I guess I was being optimistic, big mistake for me, in that I actually DO want to date this girl. But looking at all the facts, this looks unlikely...

Well, I am going to quit writing since I don't think that I am making any sense at all and I am getting hungry and tired. So until I ever get back to this thing.
    peace.

A brief bout with a razorblade cut me,
I freaked out, thinking people didn't love me.
I watched closely, as the you I knew forgot me.
In letting go, I am so proud of what I've done.

    Guess what...I made an update!
Greetings to all three of you that read this thing!

The thing is, I was kinda bored tonight...not much going on, just watching the extra features of Episode III dvd, and the Office Space Special edition...Yeah....I'm gonna need you to read the rest of this...Mkay? Yeah...

So I decided to post the pictures from this past weekend. It was my birthday and my favorite holiday...Halloween! As for my birthday, I went to eat at El Toro with my buddy Micheal and then we went to Libations Too for the rest of the night...it was pretty low key. The next night was the Halloween party at Libations Too, that was a lot of fun. A friend of mine John, well he is Jay's friend, and I think he is a pretty cool guy, but anyway...he was dressed as a Cenobite from Clive Barker's Hellraiser Mythos, that I later named Slackjaw! Jay's costume was pretty cool too, he was a zombie and it looked really good. I was in full Kilt, with the flyplaid and everything...and I had a glass of water...so I was Scotch and Water! :) Well, I thought it was clever! Oh yeah Jer came as Ash from Evil Dead, it was really cool. But that was weekend in a nutshell, and on Monday Night...Halloween, I did absolutely nothing. Pretty exciting huh?

I am gonna go now, gotta watch Office Space...yeah.
So here is the top 10 on my ipod right now!
    1.Hurt - Johnny Cash
2.Take On Me - Reel Big Fish
3.Punk Rock Girl - Dead Milkmen
    4.Halloween - Stephen Lynch
    5.Boyz n da hood - Dynamite Hack
    6.Adam's Song - Blink 182
7.Street of Loredo - Johnny Cash
    8.Calling You - Blue October
    9.Goodmornin' Da - The Tossers
    10. Bandits Revelry - The Killigans

    Busy Busy Busy...
Hey Everybody, all six of you!
Well, I thought I would give you guys and gals (hopefully, there are some gals reading this!) ;) an update as to what is going one with me...I'm BUSY! As most people know I am dividing my time between work and school, not leaving much time for anything else, but that isn't all that bad, although I would like a day completely off for once, where I don't have to do a damn thing. Actually I had a couple of those at the beginning of this week, it was fall break. Although, I did homework and went to the Library so that doesn't really count. Oh crap! I just remembered something...

Happy Birthday Bonnie and Dennis! They are my sister and brother, born the same day, but a couple of years apart. So I guess they are like twins, only different! :) I have to send them e-cards...I will do that right after I finish this.

Well, next Saturday (not tomorrow, but the 29th) is my birthday. I don't have any plans for the day itself except watch the game and probably go out to a bar or something. I took it and the day after off. Of course that is the weekend before Halloween, so I might dress up on my birthday, maybe not, but I will on Sunday, there is a party I want to go to.

Anyway, I went to Knickerbockers last night. It is a bar that has live music, both national and local acts. Anyway, I went because there is a local Irish/Punk band that I wanted to see. I am gonna be writing a review for the band, just for giggles. Not that I am a professional critic or anything. Plus, I will be linking their site to mine, so go and check them out. And if you happen to be in Lincoln when they play, definately check them out, you won't be disappointed. Look for the review soon. Oh, I guess I forgot to tell you all the name of the band....The Killigans!

Anyhoots, I am going to make some dinner now...Shrimp Scampi and fettacini...I can't spell, sue me! So, I will let you all get back to surfing the net...so until next time....I'm Roachman!

Ok so I have been naughty and not writing...
Yean I know I haven't written in a while but to be honest, I have been pretty busy with school and work, I don't really have days off...I am either on campus or at work, so that kinda sucks. Anyway, other than work and school, nothing really has been happening with me...
Although I did attend a pretty cool on stage discussion today at the Leid Center on campus. The Collage of Business Administration (of whom I am a part of) hosted a discussion between the students and a couple of fairly successful guys. Ok, so it was the two richest men in the United States, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates. First off there were these videos showing how the two of them are just normal guys, I know what you are thinking, I was too, these guys can't be normal like you and I. But the videos were actually really funny, Arnold Schwartz.....Schwartzen...you know the governor of California, was making Mr. Buffett do sit-ups and pushups and the lot..."There will be no Dairy Queen!" And Bill Gates did this awesome thing with Napoleon Dynomite. But once the videos ended, about 100 students came out on stage (they were chosen by the faculty to ask questions) followed by the two Billionaires themselves. It was pretty fun listening to their answers to the students questions both serious and funny. I got to tell you, Warren Buffett is a very witty and funny guy. I think the whole thing is gonna be on tv next year sometime and they are gonna use parts of it for recruitement for the university.

Well after that, I walked around campus just enjoying my day off. Headed downtown to get some lunch at Ali Baba's Gyros. Had a beer at Yia Yia's, and while waiting for my bus, I decided to go say hi to my friend Gene, he is a barber and a magician and an all around great guy. Got my hair cut. By then I missed my bus, so I wandered back to campus to kill some time till the next bus. Played some pinball, bought a really engrossing book called "I, Lucifer". It is really cool, it is a book written from the point of view of Lucifer who has been given a body for 1 month to try and gain access back into Heaven. I have just started, and it has me laughing out loud LOL. But I am only about 30 pages into it, but so far it is great!

Wow, I just looked at my webpage, which I haven't done in ages, according to the counter, I am getting close to 1000 hits! Hooray for ME! Actually I think about 800 of those are me, but anyway. And no, I haven't been taking any pictures, because I haven't been doing anything to take pictures of. The Halloween/My Birthday pics will probably be the next update, although I am thinking of walking around campus and snapping some shots of where I go to school, for the three or four of you that are interested.

Anyway, I am gonna wrap things up with my favorite songs that are currently on my Nano (yeah I got an Ipod, it is my birthday present to myself). So here it is.

    1. Calling You - Blue October
    2. Brian Wilson - Barenaked Ladies
    3. In Defense of Dorchester - The Street Dogs
    4. Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz
    5. Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
    6. Almost - Bowling for Soup
    7. The Green Fields of France - The Dropkick Murphys
    8. Praxis (Bold as Love) - Consolidated
    9. This is Your Life (Feat. Tyler Durden) - The Dust Brothers
    10. Du Hast - Rammstien

Well that is it, they all are great, and I should know I have great taste in music!
Oh yeah, I went and saw The Aristocrats last night, it is a very funny documentary about a very nasty joke. I laughed my ass off! Well, I got to go...Seeing Bill Gates today inspire me to watch a movie I haven't seen in awhile....Pirates of Silicon Valley. So I am outta here...Peace

    Hey There...
Not much happening here in Blogland.
But I just thought that I would write one of these here blog entries thingies...
Like I said nothing really exciting is happening, I am either at work or just sitting at home, doing not much of anything, since I can't afford to actually do anything like go to the movies or a bar, or actually buy food for that matter. Let me tell you ramen is getting really old! Hell, I actually opened up that can of Spam, I had sitting in my cupboard. Although, I must say that I spruced up rather well.
Well, the new semester starts at UNL in about 2 weeks, so next week I think I am going to go get my books for the new semester. I have actually started the classes specific to my major in MIS, so it should be interesting. Although, I just found out that one of my classes is being taught by one of the most illustrious Professors in the field of Management, which is a good thing...but I have heard that his tests are a bitch! But I shall prevail, at least studying will keep me occupied, that is if I actually keep on track and actually study, but since I don't have a social life, that shouldn't be a problem. My english teachers would be so proud of that last sentence! All seriousness aside! I am actually looking forward to school starting, I have be a bit stircrazy lately. I have also been a bit lonely too. But there really isn't much to do about it.
I do have to tell you all about the most bizarre email I recieved yesterday. Well, it wasn't that bizarre, but I thought it was funny. I recieved an email from one of those online dating services, not only that but it was a Christian online dating service. The thing that I thought was funny was the name...it was something like Meet Sexy Christians Online...well, I thought it was funny. The thing that is absolutely hilarious is the fact that I almost went to the site... I have considered going to an online dating service for a while, since the odds of meeting someone in the real world seem to be astronomically low. And doing it at a Christian site, would just be hilarious, especially since I am pretty much an Agnostic, and firmly believe in Evolution, a woman's right to choose, and the fallibility of the church, any church.
Speaking of the Theory of Evolution, I saw one of the funniest things on tv a about a month ago. For those who don't know up for about the last year, I haven't had cable and with my rabbit ears, I could get about 5 channels with any level of clarity, three of these happened to be religious programing...that was hell. Anyway, this nut was going on about the fact that the Earth was only about 10,000 years old or something like that, you know the biblical account. Anyway, one of his proofs was the age of Niagra Falls, which he pointed out were only about 10,000 years old. Which according to him was concrete proof of the age of the Earth, or at least the great flood. It is amazing that to this nut, geologic age determination is fine, but when it is used to date the Earth as far older, it is flawed...I love these guys logic. Well, he got me thinking...ok...the age of the falls is 10,000 yrs...how can this be? Well, the last Ice Age ended about oh 10,000 yrs ago. Yeah, I think that it makes sense that wouldn't be any falls there before that time, since it there was a big ass glacier there instead!
Another show on one of these channels stared Kirk Cameron, you know that kid from the 80's, who apparently found God, I think he was behind the couch, that is where I find stuff all the time. Anyway, his idea of a good time is scaring people into finding Christ, by telling them that they are lying, adulterous thieves, who are going straight to hell. He does this by asking them if they have EVER told a lie, if they have ever looked at the opposite sex in lust(which according to him is adultery) and if they have EVER took something that wasn't theirs....I really wanted to ask Kirk when he goes to church, if it is on Saturday or Sunday, just to see what he says. If he attends on Sunday, then by his own standards he is doomed.
Another kick I got was watching these guys preaching about the End of Times profecies. Aside from the fact that they would take completely unrelated passages from the bible and somehow make them fit together to show that the End Times are here and now, but they go on and on about who the is the Beast, and they always point to the Catholic church, also they never say it by name. They also seemed to ignore the fact that these "profecies" were "fullfilled" when the Roman Empire fell. Not only that they have been "fullfilled" several times since. Amazing how these "profecies" could fit just about any political or religious climate. But hey who am I to judge.
Wow, I have been ranting for a while now, I guess that is what not having human contact, aside from work, and I would actually classify that as human contact, gets ya. Well, I am gonna go now, I have to actually get ready for work and do some dishes. So I am outta here!

not really that much going on...
    Hello there,
Not really much to report here. I have just been working and watching tv. I haven't been going out or anything like that. I have been reading a bit, and working on some new routines for my close-up act.
Of course I have playing around on the computer, you know surfing the web, immersing myself in pop-culture and all that. I went to a friend of mine's web site and she had a cool link on it. It is the Jedi quiz. So, I did it a couple of weeks ago, I think I scored "Chosen One", but I decided to do it again tonight and whammo! I am a Jedi Master! So I put the link on the home page of my site, so check it out, it is kinda fun, in a well-lets-waste-5-minutes kind of way.
Oh after work today, I headed over to the Magic Shop here in Lincoln to say Hi to everybody there. Had a grand ole time. I really dig hanging out there when I can. I love just looking at all the stuff and looking at the stuff that I would put on my wish list, if I had one. Slowly but surely I will pick up a couple of these items that I have had my eye on! In case you are wondering here is the website of the shop.
    www.magickits.com
check out the site, there is a lot of good stuff there...including Lou's new magic kit.
Well, I am going to get going, I think I am going to watch a movie, or jut veg out watching tv....
    color me gone.

    July Jamm and other things...
    Hello all,
Well I thought I would give you all an idea of what has been going on here over the pass couple of days. The big thing that I did was attend July Jamm here in Lincoln. July Jamm is an annual two-day festival and concert that takes place on the streets of downtown Lincoln. I had never gone before, but I got wind of the line-up, three celtic rock bands! The Dust Rhinos, Gaelic Storm, and The Young Dubliners. Well, the day of the show, I called my buddy Micheal to see if he wanted to go, and he said that he did, but that he didn't want to go until about 7:30pm, since it was damn hot that day...I think it was around 105 degrees. So we headed downtown and wandered around waiting for Gaelic Storm to take the stage, we had missed the Dust Rhinos, they had just gotten done when we showed up. Once 8pm came around the Storm took the stage and needless to say, it was a brilliant show! Words can't really describe it, but it lots of laughs and lots of great music. After a few beers, well quite a few, The Young Dubs took the stage and rocked the crowd. By this time, I was feeling the music and the beer, well mostly the beer, so the rest of the night was a blur. I did meet a really cool family from Omaha, mainly because the littlest boy was wearing the same design Flogging Molly T-shirt as me. I hope that they got my email and website info, I am pretty sure that I wrote it down... Anyway, overall it was a great night, although the heat got to me a bit, seeing as I wiped out the next day and pretty ill. Then again it could have been the beer.
Now I have to talk about something that I saw on tv tonight. Tonight was the season finale of Average Joe. This is one of those reality dating shows that has a beautiful woman looking for Mr. Right. In the case of this show however the men she intitially meets are...well average. Later one during the run of the show they bring in a bunch of studs to compete against the average joes. In the past two seasons the woman has always ended up picking one of the studs to run away with...no real big suprise there. This season however the woman, Anna, ended up with the Average Joe. On the surface this is all fine and dandy, there is at least one beautiful woman on tv isn't caught up style but in substance. But there is one thing that is bugging me about this...during the finale she was gushing and gushing about the stud, and although she liked the average joe and thought he was sweet, she didn't seem that attracted to him, which she all but admitted. Now watching all this I was sure that she was going to be as shallow as a baby pool, but in the end she picks the Joe... Somehow, I have a gut feeling that she was pushed into this by the producers of the show, just so they could keep it going...I mean who would want a show with this premise, if the Joes always lost out to the pretty boys? Not only that, but the guy she did end up acutually got booted off the show earlier and AFTER he had a makeover, he made it to the final two...
Now, don't get me wrong, and average guy like me actually got the beautiful girl. But lets be honest, the only reason that he did win her over (if in fact he did) was because she was forced by the rules of the show to spend time with him and get to know him. If she had met this guy in a bar, she wouldn't have given this guy the time of day. She would have went off with wannabe model guy. Now I know that I sound as if I saying that all women are shallow, but I am not. I know that all woman aren't that shallow, but but from my experiences, they do all go for looks at first, just like guys by the way. I really don't know why I am so bugged by this show and the whole situation but I guess I had to vent. Anyway I am going to get going. I'm out. And if anyone can fill me in on the mystery that is women, I would be truely grateful. I mean hell I would love to have a girlfriend again, but they just seem to dig me, well they do, but as a friend. And believe me, the friend zone sucks. Someone asked if my standards were too high, and they really aren't. I mean all I really want is to meet a nice girl that I like the look of, and who the look of me doesn't make her ill. (Thanks to Four Weddings and A Funeral for the quote) Who knows maybe I will find that someone, and maybe she will be a knockout and maybe not, it doesn't really matter. I'm gone.

Ok, so here is what happened....
    Greetings all in blogland!

As most of you know ( all six of you ), I went home to Scottsbluff for the valley's annual Oregon Trail days. Here is a rundown of what happened.

Ok, to start things off, a couple of days before I left I came down with a cold, never a fun thing in summertime. Well, after I got off work on Thursday, I went home and started to pack, throwing dirty clothes into a duffle bag, not too difficult. Then I got a call from a friend of mine who was in town, and I talked to her for a bit and made her a compilation CD of Dropkick Murphy songs, Hope you liked them!
My original plan was to go to bed early and get on the road early on Friday. Well, I decided I wanted to see my friend and I went to see her. I was going to try and be home by 11pm, but it ended up being more like 12:30am. No regrets though, I got to have a good talk with my friend so alls good.

Anyway, that old monster of mine insomnia struck and I could get to sleep so I burned a couple of music CDs for the trip and finally drifted off. I wanted to get on the road by 7am but that was completely out, so I finally hit the interstate around 9am. The drive was uneventful, so that is a good thing. Well I made home and started on the old laundry. I didn't bring that much so it didn't take any time at all. But that afternoon, I decided I wanted to sit outside and try and sweat out my cold, I still have the cold and now I also have a bit of a sunburn.

Then I to the mall, and talked to my nephew Josh for awhile, also giving him a CD with pictures from his wedding. We talked and joked, listened to the new Dropkick Murphys CD and that was that. I then went over to chat with Gary and Sandy (my brother and sister-in-law). I checked some email...none worth mentioning, and showed Gary some of the kilt pages I found on the web, then we decided to do some research on my Mom's side of the family, since we thought that getting Irish tartan kilts would be cool, and that we know for certain the origin of that side of the family. Well, we located the ancestral seat and all that...Galway. I had always thought the Kirwans were from Cork, but then again maybe there are a bunch of Kirwans there too!

After that I went to my mom's a jumped in the shower, that was when I noticed the sunburn...and got ready to go over to the Beer Garden at the Union Bar. For a while there I just wandered around since I didn't know a soul there, but I finally bumped into a couple of people I knew...Robby, Eric and Phil. We listened to the band and drank some beer...Every now and again, I did some magic. Well everyone started to disappear on me, so I left when they closed down. I went to Walmart and got some food and the new Harry Potter book. Went home and eventually went to sleep.

I got up the next morning at about a quarter to 8. My mother's reaction was, "What are you doing up?" Don't know, just got up. Well Gary showed up to prime the pump on the well so my mom could water her lawn. Well it didn't work since the foot valve on the bottom of the pipe into the well was gone. So I went over to his house to pick up a tractor sprinkler and a hose...When I got there...about 9am...Sandy asked "What are you doing up?" Still don't know! Well, I had a couple of cups of joe, and a nice converstation with Sandy...Gary went to bed, he had worked all night long. Then I went back home to start watering the lawn.

I was thinking about going to the OT days chili cookoff but by around 11am it was already in the 90's and approaching 100 degrees....not gonna doit! Well, Bonnie and Leroy came over and we all went to eat lunch at Taco de Oro, it was really good, I had been jonesing for some good Scoblo Mexican food for a while now.
Then Mom and Bonnie went to a quilt show or something while I stayed home and continued to water the lawn. After a while Gary came back over and we went in search of a foot valve for the well. We when to Ranch supply stores and looked at all sorts of stuff, cowboy shirts, leather jackets, 14 piece cast iron cooking set (great deal but how the hell do you carry it!? The stockman offered to throw in a dolly!) At one of the places the was a guy spinning a lasso in the aisle, which I thought was just funny...only in Nebraska! Well, we got the foot valve and headed back to my Mom's to put it on, took no time at all...got the well primed and the sprinklers were working! Not bad at all.

On and off during the day, I started reading the new Harry Potter book...really good...sorry no spoilers! Well, eventually I went to the OT lounge to see Phil's band Loaded Dice play. They were really good and Nicole the singer is a real hottie! Wink Wink! After awhile though I decided to go to the beer garden at the Union. The place was packed, really hard to find anyone at all...but I found a couple of people I knew, then I realized that I hadn't been taking any pictures, except for a couple of pics of Loaded Dice. So I took a picture of Paki, Candy, and Carissa...it was a great pic. Then I found some other people and was just snapping away. Then I decided that I had had enough of the crowd, and I wanted to find my buddy Danny, so I went to where he normally hangs out, the Silver Saddle. I got there and nobody was there, well nobody of importance, just a couple of drunks. While I had my last beer, when I ordered somebody remembered me from a month ago, and asked where my kilt was...) I decided to go through my pictures, I wanted to delete some that were already loaded to my computer and so I started to edit....well, I got carried away and deleted some of the ones I took that night...Grrrr...sometimes I am an idiot. So the picture of Paki, Candy and Carissa is nowhere to be found. Sorry girls!

Well, I went home and talked to my Mom for awhile, and eventually went to bed after watching some tv. Got to love those infomercials. Well, I don't know what time I went to sleep, but I woke up around 10am...and decided that I was in no rush whatsoever to get on the road. So I hauled in some salt, read my book and did a final load of laundry...anything to put off the drive back to Lincoln. Well, I got on the road around 2:30pm and by about 9:30pm I was home and that was that.

I had fun this year....not quite as exciting as last year, but I had fun nevertheless. It was a lot more relaxing, which is what I really needed. That is That in a nutshell...

Not much to talk about, but I will anyway!
    Hidy-Ho~~!

Well, I have a day off, and I have absolutely nothing to do. Well, that isn't true, I have a bunch of stuff that I should be doing, but I am putting it off...I will get around to it though, probably after I write this. Then again maybe not...I might Adult Attention Defecit Syndrome...Odd, I thought it was just procrastination...oh look a pretty bird! Actually the stuff I have to do is just boring, but it does need to be done.

So, what did I do today? Well, I did an update to my site. I put up some pictures from a party that I went to over the 4th of July weekend. I went to the campus to exchange a book that I bought yesterday...I picked up the wrong one. It was a computer book. It is a book on Adobe PhotoShop Elements, I actually trying to learn how to use the program effectively. What else did I do? Hmmmmm...oh I started reading Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix...again. After all the new book comes out on Saturday at 12:01am! Yeah, I know I am too old for kid books but these are really good, besides my sister likes them too! I have also been dinking around the internet looking at nifty stuff...well not all that nifty, but it passes the time. I burned a couple of picture CDs of Josh and Cricket's wedding....Oh and I watched one of the coolest movies EVER! Goonies! Yeah I love that movie...While it was playing I was playing solitare on the ol' 'puter....and I was saying the dialog right along with the movie. I watch that movie way too much...nah...

Anyway, in a couple of days I will be heading off to the bluffs to attend Oregon Trail Days. I got to tell you it is a great time in the bluffs. Lots to do...Beer Gardens, parades, beer gardens, carnival, chili cookoff, music, beer gardens, crafts, and oh yeah beer gardens...
I know that is almost word for word I a post that I made a year ago, but damnit it is true! Not only that but I get to spend a bit of quality time with the family, hopefully the weekend won't be as hectic as the last time I was home, but you never know! Which reminds me, packing is another of those things that I need to do, but that isn't too hard since packing just involves putting dirty laundry into a duffle bag so I can do it at home...

Well, since I can't think of anything else that is going on...I am gonna end it here, I mean I could rattle on about serious things like the....Oh look! A squirrel!

Now what do I talk about?
So what has been happing? Not much here. The Fourth is over and there are still a few fireworks here and there in my neighborhood, actually, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I stayed home, I really didn't feel like doing anything, besides it would have sucked going out by myself, so I didn't do anything.

I did go to my buddy Jer's house on the 3rd, they were having an early 4th/Chris's birthday/last party in the house. Jer is moving, and so is everyone else for that matter. So we got together and had a last shingding, it was pretty fun. I had to leave relatively early, I had to work in the morning. Apparently whatever I was drinking hit me when I got home, because about 30 minutes later I was feeling really horrible. The morning wasn't any picnic either! But I went to work. My original plan was to get some extra hours on the 4th, but that didn't happen, I just wasn't feeling it, and I wanted a nap really bad!

So after I got home I got comfortable and put in the Watership Down DVD, and watched it for a bit...not too long, I feel off to sleep shortly after. I woke up about an hour later and watched The Stand DVD. Later on in the night I noticed that I had a message on my cell, which is odd because it was right next to me and I didn't hear it ring....Anyway it was my friends Crystal and Julian wishing me a happy 4th. So I called them back to say hi! Thanks for thinking of me! Anyway, I went to sleep around 1am and that was it.

Today, I didn't do anything particularly interesting, I sat around playing Civ II most of the day. I also read a bit of Watership Down, what can I say I love that book. And now I am writing in my Blog-thingy. So I am going to wrap up here and give my top ten songs on my Computer!

    Independence day...well almost!
Greetings all out there in Blog land.
I just wanted to send out a greeting and wish everyone a happy 4th of July. I hope everyone has a good time and plays it safe...I can already hear the fireworks here in my neighborhood, then again it could be gunshots, you never know.

Not much is going on with me. I change the look of my site a wee bit. I have been playing around with Photoshop elements, trying to make it look a little neater. I have been working a bit too. I worked yesterday, today, and I will be working tomorrow. Although, I am only scheduled to work 4 hours, I gonna see if I can get another 4 hours. 1) to help out and 2) I want the extra money!

Well, I am gonna tell you all to go out and buy the new Dropkick Murphys CD. It is amazing, my friend Jer let me listen to it, and then I just had to go and get it. It isn't as punked out as many of the other DKM albums, but it stills rocks when it counts! Also there are some very beautiful and touching tunes on this one. DKM does a cover "The Auld Triangle", which they pump up a bit and it sounds great. There is a song called "Your Spirit's Alive" which is a tribute to Chickman, a friend of the band that died tragically, in a motorcycle accident, I believe. There is one song which is answer to all the so-called "hard" punk bands that have sprung up, it is called Wicked Sensitive Crew...it is pretty damn funny!
A very touching song is called "Last Letter Home" which is a tribute to all those serving overseas, and those who didn't make it back. But probaly my favorite song on the album is "The Green Fields of France" which is a cover of "No Man's Land". It is simply beautiful...kind of hard to believe that the Dropkick Murphys can play something like it! So go buy it!

I am gonna start doing something different here, at the end of all my posts I am going to put down the top ten songs that are playing on my computer as of the writing of each posts. Feel free to ask questions about the songs or even give me your top 10 list!

Top Ten Song's Playing of the Roachman's Computer...Right Now!
    1. The Green Fields of France - Dropkick Murphys
    2. Under The Milky Way - Seven Nations
    3. Mad World - Tears For Fears
    4. The Snake With Eyes of Garnet - Shane MacGowan and the Popes
    5. If It Be Your Will - Leonard Cohen
    6. Rocky Road To Dublin - Dropkick Murphys
    7. If I Ever Leave This World Alive - Flogging Molly
    8. Right Now - SR-71
    9. The City Sleeps - MC 900ft. Jesus
    10. Goodbye - Gravity Kills

All right I am outta here, I am going to go to a party for a little bit...I don't think I am going to stay long, after all I do have to work tomorrow.

    Life sucks...
Well Hidy-frickin'-hoe all of you out there in Blog land.

I am not too worried about what I write here tonight, because only a handful of people actually read this thing. It isn't like I draw a big audience with this blog.

But I just got the shit kicked out of me...not physically, more of an emotional ass kicking.
yeah, but I suppose it really is my fault, I opened myself up to it, so therefore I have to live with it. What it comes down to is that someone I really cared about, and who I thought was my friend was decieving me. And to add to it, well I won't get into any details, but this person gave the knife in my back a severe twist. I guess I am truely finding out who my REAL friends are. I do know that I still have a couple of friends. I guess I am just not the kind of guy who is meant to have a lot of friends. But the ones I have I cherish more than they know. Man, I thought I was depressed before, but the more that I think about it, the deeper down the spiral I go. I guess it is time to rebuild the Wall. If I don't let anyone in, they can't hurt me, they can't love me either, but they CAN'T hurt me.

Hopefully, this meloncoly(I don't think I spelled that right) will pass. Actually, I know for a fact that the situation is for the best. but it hurts like hell damnit. I don't need people who would do this to me in my life.

Admittedly, I am a moody prick. And I am not the easiest to get along with. But if I was such a burden why didn't anybody tell me. Say "Hey Rob, you are a asshole and I don't want anything to do with you." instead of acting the part of a friend. I could respect that.

But since I am a moody prick, I guess I got what I deserve. Fair Enough.

Well, it is late, early actually, just after 5 in the morning. I should get some sleep, hopefully I will dream...at least there, I am somewhat of a hero to someone. Then I will wake up and this will be the past and I can put it behind me.

    Brick by Brick

no real topic, just thought I'd write!
Hello all out there in the great void that is the Internet! Hope you don't get lost!

Well, I have some time to kill, so I thought I would write a little on my blog thingy! Not much is really going on here. I have been going to work and staying home. I have been watching tv, goofin' on the 'puter, listening to the Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly etc. Not really doing much of anything. I bought a cheap computer game, kind of a ghost hunting puzzle solving thing...I thought it would take me at least a month to complete it...it took me about 3 days...it really wasn't that challenging. So I guess it is back to Solitare!

Work has been...well work. Not much to report there except that I am becoming a scanning fool! Scan this, Scan that....Don't take the dog food out of the cart....I'll come out there and scan it! I have a scan gun! Being a cashier, I do get to see a lot of cool products that I can't possibly afford, so that is good...sorta. But one item came down the conveyor belt that I just had to try...Microwave Pork rinds...what will they come up with next???? It is a package just like microwave popcorn, you know flat. Pop it in for 1 and half minutes and watch the bag expand...it doesn't "pop" so you have to watch it... After the bag expands you take it out and Bam! you have pork rinds. Spicy pork rinds. Although they didn't pop while being nuked, after I opened the bag, they started to crackle and snap... Kinda neat.
Yes, that's right...Microwave Pork Rinds, you too can be a red neck in under two minutes...(times vary according to microwave's power output)

The Fourth of July is coming up, and you guessed it, I have to work, but it won't be that bad, I am only scheduled for four hours, but I might try to get some more hours that day...Holiday pay! Besides I have no plans. No invitations to BBQ or anything like that. Just going to try to ignore the fireworks, even though Lincoln has an ordinance outlawing fireworks until the day before the Fourth, people in my neck of the hood have already started. Can't wait till it is over, but then again that won't stop them.

It does look like I am going home in the middle of July to see the family and enjoy Oregon Trail days. It is nice little festival that celebrates the pioneers that crossed the great prairie, even better though, they have HUGE beer gardens! And I will probablly be getting a new car!

That's it for now, nothing left to say, not that I said much in the first place. Until next time...

    Real Men Wear Kilts!
    Greetings all!
I am back from ScoBlo with a recap of my weekend there and Josh & Cricket's Wedding.
To start things off, I took off pretty early in the morning, just so I would get back to ScoBlo in plenty of time. The trip itself was uneventful and my car made it ok. I ended up back home about 1pm, and by 1:05pm I realized that there really isn't anything to do in that town so I did some laundry. My sister, Bonnie showed up and we decided to go to the Thrift store to find a jacket for me to wear to the wedding. I called my nephew Jason to tell him I was in town and ready for the stag party and my Mom's phone started cutting out, so I jumped in the car to go get it another battery.

By the time I got back, my brother Doug and his family had arrived, and after a bit of chit chat and finishing up my laundry, I headed over to see my brother Gary and his wife Sandy. We talked for a while about the prep for the wedding and the plans for the weekend. They had to go get something for the rehearsal dinner, so I took off to my sister's house, where I would be staying for the weekend. Eventually, my sister showed up and we were off to find a suit jacket for me. The first one I found was a tux, but unfortunately it was too small...Big Guy in a little suit! Anyhoots, I found a decent looking black jacket that would work and as a bonus, it fit! I keep looking a bit and found a brown corduroy jacket with patches on the sleeves and everything! I got that one too, I must say I look quite scholarly in it! The best part was that there was a new clerk working the store and didn't really know how much the jackets were supposed to be, and got both for eight bucks and change...about half the real price. We jump in the car and headed back to my sister's place and I got ready for the bachelor party.

I headed over to my brother's house where we were meeting for the party, eventually we all arrived (Jason, Josh, Mike, Ryan, Brandon, Dan, Phil, Gary, Doug and me! sorry if I forgot anyone..) and we jumped in the RV my brother had borrowed and we were off...then it stalled...and then we were off again! We went to the first bar, in the basement of a hotel, and had a beer. The main reason we went there was for the free food they set out. So we noshed had a couple of beers and took pictures with a guy with no teeth in front, who said he was a felon and couldn't be photographed...yeah right. Also while we were there, we bought Josh several shots...I think he did like 5 shots in five minutes....and we were off again!

We stopped off at Kelly's liquer store and got some beer and headed out to the State Line, because we needed to see strippers...Side Note: 98% of the time I have been to the "Line", the dancers were nothing to brag about, you were lucky if they had most of their teeth! The Line is about 30 miles from ScoBlo, so we drank and sang songs on the radio...it was pretty cool, they did played two Queen songs on the radio, but didn't play Bohemian Rhapsody, but we sang it anyway...Gary, who was driving, said that it was actually really good! Gotta Moosh, Gotta Moosh, Will you Do the Fandango? Well, we got to the Line, and Jason handed out our nametags....with names like Slim Johnson, Hugh Jorgan, I was Drew P. Balz. Anyway, the only things about what happen at the line was that we had a dancer attach a 10-pound ball and chain to his leg....Cricket had the key! And let's say that I was actually impressed with the quality of the dancers, nuf said. Eventually we dragged everyone out of the bar, Ryan was occupied....but we eventually hit the road to meet up with the bachelorette party... We met up at the Silver saddle and I saw a couple more of my friends at the bar. I did some magic, which apparently impressed Gary! He said I had the table wrapped around my finger. The bar closed, and we headed back to the RV....outside Phil (We call him Cheese...I have no idea why) was the only one to make with the technicolor yawn, poor guy. Once back at my brother's house, I walked over to the quick stop, for some smokes and a cup of java juice...let's just say the next morning was rough.

Like I said, it was a rough morning, but eventually I headed over to Gary's to help out decorating the church and reception hall and setting up with the rehearsal dinner. My other brother Dennis showed up with the big tent. He apparently speared a bird on the way up from Colorado. We put up the big tent and got everything ready. The boys from the party showed up to try on their kilts and decided to wear them to the rehearsal...Eventually everybody started showing up for the dinner and we started drinking beer...the weather was a bit rainy and cold, but we had a great time anyway. I rand to my sister's and got my kilt, since we decided we were going to go walk around the mall, it was kinda neat watching people stare at us and even one quy wanted to know why we were wearing "quilts". After we explained that it pronounced kilt, we headed back to the party. Eventually, my mom left and the only one's left were my brothers Gary and Doug, the boys and my sister-in-law Sandy. Unfortunately we got a call that my Mom got into a fender bender on broadway, and 5 guys in kilts took off running ( it was a block away ) I think that we scared the crap out of the kids were in the other car, one just doesn't expect that. Mom and everyone was ok, so we took off once the authorities got there, and we headed off to get smokes. While we were walking along, a couple of girls in a car pulled over to take our picture, we invited them to the party, shortly thereafter I took off, I was really tired. Turns out they were only 18! We didn't need to get busted the night before the wedding, so I guess it ended shortly thereafter!

The big day finally arrived! I had to head over pretty early, since I was helping out with getting stuff done so at about 3pm I headed over to Gary's, donned my kilt and headed to the church. All the boyz were there and we went over to the quick stop to see if they had some flasks, they did and right then the Scotch began to flow! We took a bunch of pictures, and the official photos were done before the wedding. During the photo shoot we did one of Josh seeing Cricket in her dress for the first time, he had his back turned as she walked up the aisle....then we told him he could turn around...The look on Josh's face! The wasn't a dry eye in the church...must have been a lot of dust, no just kidding, it was a beautiful moment. The forecast for the day was 66 degrees and cloudy, but they were wrong and it was sunny and hot...especially in the kilts....we found a good way to keep cool though...floor vents! Did I mention that we were all going "traditional". Then we got the news...the piper got lost. he was about 2 hours away, and the wedding was to start in two hours. Long story short...he got there and we only had to stall for about 5 minutes. The Wedding was absolutely beautiful! After the wedding, the piper lead the guest on a walk to the reception, we walked down the street while he played...it was pretty cool. The reception started and the party began. We drank alot (free beer), danced and all that. It was a lot of fun. One of the highlights was that a Older Gentleman, Myron Tylor, was there in full kilt and he sang a couple of old Scottish songs to the happy couple. Everyone thought it was really cool, and a highlight. Then came another moment...All of the boys from the bachelor party got up in front of everyone and sang Bohemian Rhapsody, since everyone had heard how good we were! I think it went over well. Then I had the DJ play "The Scotsman", which alot of people got a kick out of. The reception ended about 1130pm, and we headed to the Saddle.

I don't know what the people in the Saddle thought with a bunch of guys donning the tartan! We had a pretty good time there too, I got roped into doing some magic for a couple of people, and the owner of the
Saddle bought us all a shot of Bushmills, ok so it isn't Scotch, but Irish Whiskey is good enough) We did the shot and Mike immediately threw up on my hand...although he claims the contrary! But I felt it damn it! Well, the night was winding down...and some asshole was starting shit with Dan...I don't understand some of these rednecks...If we have the balls to wear kilts in the first place, do you think that we are scared of some yokel with no culture...I found out later what the guy said from Dan, and it is a good thing that Jason and I didn't hear, because we WOULDN'T have held back Dan, we would have killed the guy.

Once calmer heads prevailed we headed over to Josh's and Cricket's apartment. Which we trashed, drank their beer, removed the labels from the canned food and some other stuff....Well, I got back to my car and suddenly realized that I didn't have my digital camera....I was certain that some punk from the bar stole it, I couldn't remember using it even there. Well, the next day, the photographer had the boys in kilts come by the portrait studio at Wal-mart so that he could take some shots of us, which he gave us one free and a decent discount on the rest. After that I went to the Saddle to see if they had found it, they didn't, and it wasn't in Jason's truck either...I knew it was gone...which pissed me off since I had took like 150 pictures. Well, I tried to relax the rest of the day, had dinner with my mom and my sister and her husband, and then eventually I headed back to my mom's with my stuff to do the last of my laundry.

Well today, I woke up and diddled around the house, not really wanting to get on the road and putting it off and putting it off. Well, I decided that time was a wastin so I had better get a move on. The phone rang...it was Jason...he told me that Josh would give me a memory stick of pictures if I came over to his place to help clean up....I had left my camera there! You have no idea how relieved I was! I didn't really care about the camera itself...but the memories of this weekend were what I really wanted! So I got them! I went over to Josh's and fessed up to trashing to the place...got my camera chatted a bit, and headed off to fuel up, got the rest of my stuff from Mom's, and hit the road about one o'clock.
The ride home was uneventful, except that it was really windy and I hit a bird, I have no idea what kind, I didn't stop! All I saw was this big black mass of feathers coming at me and the thump on the windshield.
Well, I got home and began to relax and write this!

I have gone on way too long, but there was lots to tell, I hope you managed your way through it and it wasn't too boring! But I am getting sleepy, so I am going to wrap up...aren't you glad?

Getting ready to hit the road!!!!
Hey all out there in Blogland!
I am currently getting ready to hit the road in the morning. I am heading out to Scottsbluff to attend my nephew's wedding. Josh, my nephew, and Cricket make a great couple and I am sure that they will be very happy together as an old married couple. The wedding has a Scottish theme, so the wedding party will be in kilts and such. Even though I don't have to, I am going to wear my kilt as well. It really isn't a formal kilt, but I think I can get away with it. So there will be pics from my trip, as well as pics of me in my kilt! Even I look good in kilt. I might have to get another one, this time a tartan one. For the uninitiated...Tartan = Plaid.
I am looking forward to getting back to the Bluffs, being around the fam, and my friends. I have really been needing to get out of Lincoln. Lately, this place has been driving me a bit stir crazy. Hopefully, I wil be getting on the road pretty early, I am looking at a 7 am departure time. Those who know me, know that I am not a morning person, so that will be a challenge, but I will give it a shot. I am trying to leave as early as possible so that I can get there in plenty of time to do some laundry, rest up and go to Josh's Stag party! There is another reason that I want to have plenty of time, my car has not been the most reliable as of late, so I want to have time to have some cool down time for the engine if I need, not only that but I have stocked up on oil, and anti-freeze. So cross your fingers that nothing goes wrong!
Right now I am having a bit of a nosh! I am eating Shrimp Scampie with Linguini...pretty fancy eh? Actually it is on of those Bertolli's 10 min skillet meals, they are fast, easy and really good. Unfortunately, they are a bit expensive, but I can splurge every once in a while!
So I have a question for you! Have you seen Hell's Kitchen or House? These shows rock! Since Lost has gone away for the summer, except for reruns, I have had to find something to intrigue me. Well, House is in reruns too, but I have never really watched it before and it is really good. In case you haven't seen it is a medical drama, based around Dr. House, a take no prisoners diagnostic doctor, I think or something like that, but then again I have only really watched it once. Dr. House, has the bedside manner of a rock, but that is part of his appeal. The show really pulls you in when they are trying to figure out what is wrong with the patients, each one seems to be an enigma...
The other show I started watching is Hell's Kitchen, it is a reality show to find and groom the next great chef. I just got a kick watching these people, some with no experience in a kitchen, trying to perform in a functioning swanky Hollywood resturant. Chef Gordon who is the one looking for his new chef is great, they have to bleep half of the stuff he says while in the kitchen, demanding excellence. One of the coolest things about the kitchens at the resturant are that they are open to the dining area...so in the first couple of shows, patrons of the resturant have come up to talk to the Chef...not a good idea. They start to complain, and Chef Gordon just rips them a new one. He REALLY doesn't like customers coming up to talk to him. Still it is a lot of fun.
Other than me just working all the time, nothing has really been going on with me. I really don't have any friends to speak of this town, well maybe a couple, well more than a couple, but regardless I have been keeping to myself, supposably to save money, but that hasn't been working. So if you would like to make a donation to keeping my lights on, please feel free to email to find out where to mail the check, remember giving makes you feel good! Just kidding, but who am I to stop people from giving me money!?
I have been yapping for quite a bit now, so I had better get back to the packing, so I can go to bed early and hit the road early to, so until I get back...later daze...
