| I bet Goren has that Discovery Channel Boom De Yada song stuck in his head and is driving Eames up a wall (some more) by randomly humming it. Is the Discovery Channel an NBC affiliate (I think it is)? That could be canon. | |
| For the record, I love Jeff Goldblum.
*** Probably, considering how low the ratings were.
| Well, that was a kick in the gut. Again. But at least it was dramatic without being melodramatic. It'll be interesting to see what the shippers do with this. It'll also be interesting to look for CI fics again.
Spoilery thoughts later if I get the time.
eta: So I just realized that my subject line was technically filking on my part. What is this world coming to?

| Wow, I've been negligent with this journal. The good thing about that is that I can now do a catch-up post. I never posted the link to my yuletide story. I wrote a Chronicles of Riddick fic called "Test Run" (which gives me an excuse to bring out this icon I made *years* ago). The prompt called for an adventure story and a transgender Jack instead of the Kyra character from the second film. I write navel-gazy, inward-looking stuff that mostly takes place in the heads of angsty characters or stories where people stand around and talk and talk and talk, so this was a (welcome) departure for me. It was fun writing actual scenes. Like most of the longer fic I've managed to write, it's kind of incomplete (I have a *huge* backstory in mind for Jack and for the Imam and his family & their lives on Hellion Prime that didn't make it in, for example, and those scenes I mentioned? Still kind of lame). I may revisit it one day (I know I say that a lot, but I mean it every time :-/ ). The amplificathon challenge that I co-modded ended yesterday. We're going to have a rec/feedback-a-thon soon, which I'll post about when we get to it. In the meantime, here's what I recorded: ( my podfics, let me show you them )I'll be posting more now that that it's summer. I'll also be posting more because CI's coming back (yay for USA promos! Goren! Pie! CI returning on my birthday!). Maybe I'll even get around to writing the, "Character development, yay! Melodrama, boo! Let's find a happy medium, and please, please, please give us more Eames backstory" post about the season 7 episodes so far that I've been meaning to write for forever now. We'll see, 'cause you know how that goes. | |

| I'm *way* behind on most of my fannish activity, and I've woefully neglected this journal (busy doesn't begin to cover it), but I'm making the time to post because I'm involved with something cool that I hope the readers of this journal will participate in: Come join the fun over at amplificathon. What's amplificathon, you ask? It's a podfic extravaganza that runs from April 7th through June 2nd. What's podfic, you ponder? It's fan fiction read and recorded by fans just like you, and we want you to contribute. Who's "we", you wonder? We're anatsuno, general_jinjur and raz0rgirl (that's me!), the mods of this challenge. Podfic is too much fun, but it's unfortunately limited in terms of the fandoms and characters represented. We're looking to expand what's available. We're also looking for new readers. If you're a podfic vet, come on over. If you've never read, give it a try. You don't have to sign up for anything. You get points for what you post, and the person with the most points will be declared the winner (bragging rights galore!). But the most important things are more podfic for everyone (yay!) and celebrating fan creativity ( \o/). There's a full FAQ on the challenge, here: http://community.livejournal.com/amplificathon/2140.htmlFeel free to ask me or any of the mods any questions. Also, feel free to spread this far and wide. The more readers and fandoms, the better. | |
| I did a couple of covers for some podfic general_jinjur recorded: "Two Dimensions" by Frostfire ( Read more... )"Thirty Below" by Shalott ( Read more... )ETA: Podfic available here. The "Two Dimensions" cover needs some credits info. that will come sooner or later. | |

| femme_fic is taking sign-ups for their multifandom ficathon through the end of January. Gen, slash & het prompts (2 prompts within the listed fandoms, one wildcard prompt) are all fine as long as they're female character-centered. Yay! Also, it's not too late to claim a prompt for choc_fic's February Characters of Color Love Fest ( Details Here). | |

| I should change my user name to under_the_wire (except it's taken, of course). I signed up for teylafen's 12 Days of Teyla because, hello! Awesome. I had this idea for a fan art project that I'd wanted to do before I signed up (figured this would be a great opportunity to actually do it), but then I ended up not having the time. Then I had a fic idea, which I also had before, but it turns out I'm still working on that. So I decided to make some icons so I could post by my assigned deadline (today). But of course there's a family situation that resulted in an unexpected out-of-town trip. There's also the Great Hard Drive Crash of 2007 that keeps biting me in the ass (Photoshop filters? What Photoshop filters?) and the hotel wireless choosing not to work due to the previous day's power outage (screencaps? what screencaps?) and the day full of stuff that I traveled 600 or so miles to do in the first place and my kind of last minute decision to make a bunch of brushes (hello, time sink!). So even making icons, which I normally love to do and get into a kind of Zen zone with, got to be hairy. I made something like 50 bases, but I only finished 16 icons. That said, I made it by the deadline, so yay! I'm still working on the fic, too, which I completely plan to finish, so yay again. Not so sure about the art project, though (that was a tad ambitious and does not merit a yay). And all of this is to say go check out the 12 Days at teylafen because Teyla kicks ass, as does fan creativity. Rawk. ( duty, honor & respect )Screencaps were taken from the Abydos Gate Rachel Luttrell/Teyla Emmagen site & were used under their guidelines. These are free for the taking. I love comments and credits but don't require them. Enjoy. The end. | |
| So I didn't get these done before the reveal, but these were the stories I'd *planned* to rec before today... ( Batman Begins, The Closer, Eastern Promises, The Fast & the Furious, Invader Zim, Little Miss Sunshine, Live Free or Die Hard, The Simpsons, Snow Crash, Spaced, John Stewart/Stephen Colbert, The Thirteenth Floor, Ultraviolet )Now off to see who wrote them. | |
| Hi there. I was remiss in getting my Dear Yuletide Writer letter up, but I noticed that my prompts went up on the pinch hit list, so this gives me another chance. ( quick and dirty yuletide note ) Basically, I pretty much love fan fiction. I like that we as fans can take these things we enjoy and make something new with them instead of being passive consumers. You rock for writing this stuff. I'm thrilled at the idea of someone writing something for me, and I'll be happy with whatever you come up with. | |
| "Untethered" has me writing CI again, though who knows when I'll get this thing finished (Yuletide fic takes precedence due to rapidly approaching deadline, and I also seem to be writing SGA for the first time. Who knew?). It might get me reading CI again, too. | |
| best episode in *forever*. | |
| It's been all kinds of busy, and this journal has been all kinds of neglected. The busy is part of why I wasn't going to sign up for The Twelve Teylas of Christmas even though I really wanted to. But then ladyjax suggested people sign up, and I did because she was right and Teyla doesn't get nearly enough fan love and she deserves an a-thon, so there. Also, I realized that 1) the due dates are in January (read: after Yuletide stuff is due) and 2) I can finish something for it I'd already been planning to work on, so I signed up. Yay. | |
| It's been a month since I've posted here. Geez louise.
Watched BSG Razor tonight. Always good to get a Michelle Forbes fix, even when the character she plays scares me. - Mood:tired
- Music:The Prisoner - "Chimes of Big Ben"

| All of the writer jokes are cracking me up. The show's writers need to send some jokes over to Goren & Eames. ETA 10:40: ( spoiler ) | |
| My Yuletide notes and snippets have surpassed the 1000 word mark and are well on their way to coalescing into something more than just notes and snippets. Yay! Now if only I could stop writing fics that are composed mostly of characters indulging in navel gazing introspection. One of my goals for this fic is to have *scenes* where things actually *happen*. And setting. Setting would be nice. | |
| All keyed up to write my yuletide fic. Hooray for requests! Also, if the person who has my requests stops by, 1) thanks! and 2) I'll have a "Dear Yuletide Author" letter up over the next few days. | |
| Whoa to that last exchange there. Srsly. | |
| Listening to lots of Radiohead, which has me tempted to make icons with Radiohead lyrics in print too small to read.
Also, Luna Lovegood icon, because I'm pretty much convinced she's the best thing about the Harry Potter franchise. - Mood:blah
- Music:Radiohead - "Videotape"

| I'm in some serious need of some Teyla/Elizabeth. Anyone have any rec's? | |
| If it weren't for the CI premiere tonight, I'd be in bed already. I am *tired*. Like, completely wiped out.
In other news, I'm thinking about using this LJ only for posting fic & icons (which I do, what, once in a blue moon?) and posting any other fannish noodling in my primary LJ. I've had this one for over a year, and frankly, the experiment of trying to keep a separate fen journal isn't working for me (never did, really. For example, most of my Heroes posts, movie posts, etc. go in my other journal). If I do conflate the fannish stuff back into my primary LJ, I'll give anyone who's interested the other username. - Mood:exhausted
